  • "Great little house with everything we needed and more, Lovely new bathroom (not in pictures) with a great shower."

Downside was we couldn't get parked near it for first couple of days. The french doors at back of house are faulty as we could only open one and the outdoor furniture is needing replaced. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay.

We are delighted that you have had such a wonderful stay. Thank you for commenting on our lovely new bathroom, and particularly the shower! We love it when we visit as a family too. We spend a lot of time each year considering how we can improve our lovely holiday cottage. A lot of thought goes into making sure it has everything you could ever need, so thank you for your lovely comments. It is a shame that The Bay did not plan more parking when they were building it, but hopefully you managed to get parked nearby. We will get someone in to look at the rear doors, and are aware that the outdoor furniture would benefit from replacement at the end of the season. The salty sea air is not great for wooden furniture unfortunately! Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately we were unable to access the key as the key safe was jammed and we had to call out assistance."

Although they came quite promptly it did put a bit of a dampener on the beginning of our stay. Otherwise the cottage was excellent apart from the comfort of the sofa where there was no support in the seat. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our cottage so much. Prior to advertising it with Sykes Cottages, we spent a long time making sure that it is the very best it can be for our guests. It is a lovely cottage in and of itself, but it also benefits from easy access to the facilities on site at The Bay, as well as some of the most amazing beaches and venues in the local area. We will be there for our own family holiday in a couple of weeks, so we will evaluate how comfortable or otherwise we feel the sofa is now. Thanks for the feedback. Property Owner

  • "Puffin Cottage is a very comfortable and well appointed cottage with the benefit of access to nearby site facilities."

The cottage itself is beautifully appointed and maintained and the owners have literally thought of everything and more. Arriving in early spring was worried about how warm it would be so came prepared but the cottage was so warm and cosy. Reading the visitors book can see that the owners are proactive and as soon as any defect is noted it is resolved. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to family or friends you can literally bring your clothes as everything you will require for your stay is supplied or close at hand. Thank you for a lovely break

Thank you very much. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at our wonderful holiday home. We have taken time to make sure the cottage is comfortable, and that everything you could ever possibly need is available. The firestick ensured we had our personal choice of TV after a hard day being a holidaymaker. It was a little temperamental but behaved after switching it off & back on again!

We are delighted to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your holiday at Puffin Cottage. We pride ourselves on ensuring that we provide everything a guest could need, so it was wonderful to read that part of your comment in particular! Well done for fixing the fire stick - I will add that instruction to the Guest Book for next year. Take care, and hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

We appreciated the very comprehensive guest handbook and the good selection of games, books and dvds (the weather wasn't great). The X-box was a hit with the boys! The site itself is very well appointed for family holidays; with lots of available activities, handy shop and pub, and walks and beach close by. Would definitely recommend.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Puffin Cottage. We are pleased that you found the guest handbook useful - a lot of time and effort went into producing it. The Bay and Filey Beach are perfect for families, dog walkers, etc. and it is lovely to hear that you had such a wonderful stay - despite the weather :-) Property Owner

Overall the cottage was clean and comfortable my only concern was the sofa was a little too low for someone with mobility issues and on lighter note maybe they could invest in a better frying pan apart from that we enjoyed our stay

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Puffin Cottage. We note your comments about the sofa - it is on our plan to update this at some point in the future, although we would respectfully point out that elderly family members with mobility issues have visited and not found the sofa to be a problem. We do hope that you come and visit us again in the future :-) Property Owner

  • "Absolutely loved the location of the property and the cleanliness of the whole site, however, on the first day of our arrival we noticed that the clamp that holds the shower head was broken."

We contacted the house owner by messenger, as per the instructions in the welcome b pack, left a voicemail on the emergency maintenance/cleaners phone, again as per instructions in welcome pack and also emailed yourselves. We received no reply from anybody, so had to use the shower by holding it over ourselves. We managed to buy some superglue to fix it and on doing so, noticed that it has obviously been glued numerous times due to the amount of old glue on the clamp! Not very impressed that out of 3 points of contact made, not one replied to us, however, this didn't stop us having a fab time and would definitely return to the complex.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us at Puffin Cottage, and were pleased with the facilities available at The Bay, Filey. The Guest Booklet provided in the cottage does not ask customers to contact us if there is an issue during your stay. We use a local company for emergency support: customers are asked to ring them using either of the two phone numbers provided. We have been informed by them that they did not receive a voicemail. They have asked us to reiterate that customers in need of support should ring the phone numbers and speak to a member of the team. If this had happened as instructed, support would have been given. • "I found it hard to find the property - in the dark."

I must say that the Receptotion staff at the 'BAY' were wonderful and got me into the house and my car in the nearby parkway. The house was well equipped and ideally situated. The kitchen was brilliant, the bathroom and shower were stunningly great. Because of the poor TV transmitter the TV did not work......evidently its the same all through the 'The Bay Resort' - an alternative should be sought till the Billsdale transmitter is finally fixed. But I had a good set of books/novels. The Resort facilities were brilliant, pub, shop and pharmacy! Well done.

We are delighted that you enjoyed staying at our lovely cottage. We recognise the frustration that the Billsdale transmitter has caused in the local area, but we are pleased that you were able to enjoy using our free book library. Our Guest Booklet explains that if the transmitter fails, you can still access TV channels through the Amazon Firestick or Xbox console, as this is achieved via our free Broadband. Property Owner

  • "When we arrived on the Friday 22nd we discovered that the cottage had not been cleaned or the beds changed."

There were no towels obviously either. We did text the Sparkle and Shine cleaning company and they got in touch on the Saturday morning- they had had no record of the booking. They came on the Saturday afternoon. We had to sleep in beds with no sheets, duvet covers or pillow cases. This was not very nice. Luckily the cottage had been left pretty clean by the previous guests but the bath was dirty and the bins hadn’t been emptied. We were not given the owners number to complain -only the cleaning company. The visitors book requested ‘ haven of happiness’ comments only!! I suppose it works both ways. We weren’t very happy !! Apart from this bad start we had a lovely holiday and the cottage was great. It was modern, well equipped and had a lovely feel to it. It is a fabulous spot to explore a lot of the Yorkshire Coast.

Our cleaning company, Sparkle and Shine, are available for emergency phone calls at all times. They were sorry that they had missed the booking, and have assured us that it will not happen again. They have stressed that if the guests had rung them rather than leave a text message, they would have sent a team around to remedy the problem straight away. We are pleased that you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our cottage. Property Owner

  • "The Bay near Filey is a lovely place to stay."

Its quite expensive and our accomodation was very good but parking is a problem mainly because there isn't enough of it! Every time we went out we were worried that we wouldn't be able to get parked near our accomodation. The property was advertised with designated parking which wasn't true. The parking problems caused a lot of bad feeling and some arguments it really needs to be addressed!Apart from that we had a good holiday at the Bay.

Thank you for your comments. We recognise the frustration regarding the provision of parking by The Bay, and have fed this back to the landowners responsible. The property advert mentions that parking is available, rather than promising a designated parking space. Property Owner
