The information sent to us by the owners prior to our stay was very comprehensive and everything was thought of. on arrival the cottage was warm and clean a super welcome on a dull day, all the extras in the kitchen are a bonus, not what you get when you normally book let only accommodation, for example, extra crockery, a wide selection of glass wear, huge selection of oven wear and utensils, how often have you holidayed and not had enough utensils to even rustle up a full breakfast for four? all i needed was at white rose cottage. even a selection of melamine plates/bowls for outdoor use of for younger guests in your holiday party. and a slow cooker, throw it all in in the morning switch on, set off for a hike across the moors or a walk over Filey Brigg and its ready on your return. dishwasher and washer/dryer in kitchen also. the lounge area was light bright airy and very comfortably furnished. the bedrooms were comfortable with beautifully clean linen and towels provided. the second bedroom was more than adequate for our 14&12 yr. old for space and comfort, with beds different ends of the room to give them each space and their own storage & lamp. the bathroom had a good shower and large bath with constant hot water supply. a small well kept area outside patio doors to have a bbq and sit at the garden furniture. the free Wi-Fi coped with multiple devices connected at once. The Bay as a site is well kept. we used the pub for a drink but lots were having meals there they looked good. the swimming pool has long opening hours and the times we used it, it was clean and of a reasonable temperature. i consider a week at white rose cottage to be good value for money and we certainly were not dissapointed

A delightful walk along the shore will bring you into Filey, which is refreshingly different and after one visit you are sure to be addicted.

The town offers something for everyone, but it remains unspoilt and retains an Edwardian elegance.

There is a great choice of places to eat, some quirky shops for a memorable souvenir and Filey's very own Coble Landing with its colourful boats and kiosks.

For children, the nearby Playdale Farm Park is a must, come rain or shine as there is a huge indoor play area and interactive paddocks where children can join in and feed the animals.

The countryside around and about provides an endless choice for walkers, cyclists, history buffs and anyone wanting to enjoy the beauty all around.

About the location

Scarborough 7.5 miles; Bridlington 11 miles.

Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set beside the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels. There is a small coble landing, a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated, with donkey rides available on the beach, children’s play areas, crazy golf and candy floss! Nearby, Flamborough Head boasts high cliffs with exhilarating walks and Bempton Cliffs are a haven for bird lovers. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where for family fun you can visit the Alpamare Waterpark, a waterpark unlike anything the UK has ever seen before, as well as plenty to explore and discover in this lovely area.
