  • "Pheasant Cottage is lovely, hence our 2nd visit!"

. We love it's remote location with all the walks from the doorstep, the wildlife (had 2 grouse in the garden!) and the night skies are amazing. Although remote, it's not far down to Reeth or Richmond for provisions and you can easily get around the Dales by car to visit other locations. We did a lovely circular walk from Keld to Muker. We last visited in May so this was the first time we had used the coal fire. It made the cottage lovely and warm and so cozy on a dark night. We cooked each night in the kitchen which is well equipped. Would recommend to anyone wanting a cozy cottage to get away from the stress of everyday life.

Thank you for your lovely feedback- we are thrilled that you returned and enjoyed your visit. Would you publish this feedback so future guests can see your opinion if possible? Property Owner

An adorable little cottage with everything we needed. Absolutely loved the remote location and it's peacefulness. An abundance of wildlife to see, a nature lovers paradise. So nice to hear the cuckoo and the curlews. Great walks directly from the cottage on country lanes and moorland are such a bonus. We will return

  • "A great stay at Pheasant Cottage during half-term; lovely accommodation which met the expectations set by the website photos."

Well furnished while providing space, and with a quality feel. Master bedroom, bed, and bed linen throughout were really comfortable, and the bathroom was well presented too. I’d easily recommend this - off the beaten track but with good access, and short journey only to Grinton, Reeth and their facilities, and then further afield.

  • "A microwave, vacuum cleaner, and a small saucepan would be beneficial."

We didn’t feel safe getting in and out the bath, a modern style bath with hand grips would be better.

Thank you for your feedback. We have since purchased a microwave for the cottage. There is also a small upright hoover and more pans. The double ended roll top bath will be staying as it is a welcome feature of the bathroom as shown in the photographs and I’m sorry that on this occasion it didn’t meet your needs. Property Owner

It is obvious the owners care and want you to have the best stay possible. They have thought of everything! It's perfect....I'm sure we will be back really soon. Anyone thinking about pheasant cottage.....do it....I promise you won't regret it.

About the location

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
