  • "The Cottage was super clean and tidy on arrival."

Owners met us immediately and were very helpful and professional. I loved the hot tub and cute garden which was fenced off perfectly for the dogs. Although the property was on the farm we were given complete privacy but also the owner was helpful and approachable if we needed to ask any questions. Lovely relaxing stay. Thank you

  • "The cottage is on a working farm, so as long as you’re okay with expecting the smells and noises of a farm, it’s perfect."

The hot tub is right on the decking now and it has been made extra private with a gate inbetween the cottage and the glamping pod, just the cows that can see you from the field. It is located right in the middle of the Dales and the Moors giving you the best of both worlds with loads of things to do within an hour drive. The hosts couldn’t be anymore friendly and welcoming, providing a book of recommended restaurants, taxi services, and days out. It has a log fire that has roughly 3 days worth of logs and newspaper to get it going. The hosts now have two curious little kitty cats who have no fear in roaming the grounds so if they let them outside, they will tend to venture over and say hello through the gate, and peak over the hot tub, and even venture into the cow field if they are feeling brave. Their dog Holly is also very friendly even though from a distance she will bark your ear off, that’s not an aggressive bark though, that’s her saying hello. The farm now caters for everyone possible, campers and walkers have the shelters on the left of the farm, glampers have the pod and hot tub and the luxury revellers have the cottage with a seperate hot tub. I could not recommend this place any more than, it has been perfect enough for a week away 2 years in a row just because there was so much we didn’t get round to doing the first year. Loved every minute of it. Won’t be back now as will be exploring other areas of the UK but definitely worth going back in a few years.

I am not entirely sure this could have been sorted, due to high ceilings ect. But at least ten times my partner had to move spiders which were in and around the kitchen/bed area. Also, no iron was inside the cottage which would have been appreciated. But overall, a really lovely trip, I could not fault the host who was very helpful and polite. Although beside a main road you don’t hear traffic. The owner, Mary, was there and helpful if you needed her, but didn’t intrude. We wanted a quiet, romantic week away and that’s exactly what we got. Great views from the bifold doors, would be lovely in the summer to sit with them open. You can also book breakfast or dinner in the farmhouse b&b should you wish. The only small negatives were that the bed was very short! My husband is only 5ft 8in, but his feet were pressed against the footboard. If you’re over that height you’d have to sleep on your side with your legs tucked up! And a shaving mirror by the sink would be useful, as the main bathroom mirror is behind you.

About the location

NORTHALLERTON

Thirsk 9 miles.

Northallerton is a County town and administrative centre of North Yorkshire, located at the foot of a ridge dividing two river basin areas, the Wiske and the Cod Beck, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, on the edge of the Vale of York, between the Hambleton Hills and the Yorkshire Dales. This thriving town boasts market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays, when both sides of the High Street are home to stalls selling a wide range of goods and produce, plus on the fourth Wednesday of the month the market is joined by a farmers' market. Despite its modest size, Northallerton has a number of independent and national shops, including Betty’s Tea Rooms, Lewis & Cooper, an outstanding delicatessan and wine merchant, award-winning butcher’s, artisan baker, greengrocers, two department stores, several supermarkets and bookshops. With good rail links to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Durham and York, the activities are not just restricted to the countryside. Situated equidistant between the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors, the opportunities for exploration are endless. These include a day at the races at one of the many local courses, including Thirsk, a family trip to the unique Forbidden Corner at Middleham, a trip to a country house such as Newby Hall, Kiplin Hall and Castle Howard, or a round of golf. The restored Victorian resort of Saltburn, plus the pretty beaches and coves of Runswick Bay, Sand's End and Robin Hood's Bay, along with the town of Whitby, are all within one hour's drive away.
