  • "We had the most fabulous week with 3 generations celebrating special birthdays & an engagement."

The Lodge was spacious & very well equipped with everything we required. The garden room was an amazing space for everyone together. The location was very well placed for trips out & walks & David’s welcome pack was soo comprehensive & full of suggestions you wouldn’t need to research yourself. David was also a very caring, friendly host before & after the visit. Having The Dudley Arms on the doorstep with an extensive menu & welcoming owner was the icing on the cake.

  • "We had a very good week at The Lodge."

The property is well equipped, comfortable, clean and very nicely located. Two small suggestions would be to cut down the hedges somewhat so that the outstanding landscape can be better appreciated and to provide more comfortable and flexible outdoor seating options so that sunny days and evenings can be better enjoyed. Otherwise, all was good!

  • "We had a lovely family holiday with our grown up children and our dog."

The Lodge has a lovely garden, enclosed for the dog and has a lovely BBQ. The central location of The Lodge allowed exploration to markets, sea-side, ride the steam train and a visit to the Yorksire gliding club. The Lodge is spacious, has a beautiful day room, spacious bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms and a huge functional kitchen. There is ample parking space for all the cars. The walks around Ingelby Greenhow are beautiful and many start around The Lodge. We had a wonderful holiday and would definately return.

  • "An excellent stay in a quiet, well appointed and comfortable home."

Plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing, with good views and ease of access. Great nearby pub and cafe, with walking and cycling routes right from the doorstep. Ideal for accessing the Cleveland Hills directly from the cottage.

  • "We stayed at The Lodge for a family holiday with our adult children, 6 of us for the first few days, then (unfortunately for them!"

) a couple had to return to work. There is lots of room and plenty of bathrooms. The beds felt quite soft when we tried them on arrival and I was a bit anxious that I wouldn't sleep, as ours at home are much firmer. That wasn't the case, we all slept very well. The garden room is fabulous. We could have spent the entire time there. The house is in such a lovely setting and the garden is huge. David was a great host, very helpful and informative. He answered questions before we arrived very quickly and was there to meet us at check in. We cooked several times; the kitchen was equiped with everything you need to cook a big meal. If you don't want to cook The Dudley Arms is great for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We visited it for each over the week we were there; as it's only a 5min walk away it seemed rude not too! The Lodge is well situated for exploring North Yorkshire and the East Coast. All in all it was a lovely place to stay, we would definitely stay here again.

  • "We all enjoyed our stay at The Lodge."

It is a spacious, comfortable property in a private, secluded location looking over beautiful views and friendly ponies! With three bathrooms, three TVs and sofas in two of the bedrooms, there were plenty of options to be together and to also be apart. Our favourite room was probably the stylish, airy dining room where we met for family meals and enjoyed chatting around the table. David was a welcoming and helpful host. His information pack was the most comprehensive I have ever seen. He was willing to answer any questions and provide suggestions. There are numerous walks of varying degrees of difficulty starting at the house. The local station at Battersby is a good alternative to driving, particularly for a day trip to Whitby.

The property is ideally located just on the edge of the Moors with amazing views and complete privacy. We felt like we had truly escaped from it all, yet there were plenty of amenities close by. The children loved swimming in the sea a short drive away (definitely bring wetsuits for October sea swimming!). The Lodge was comfortable, warm and homely, and spotlessly clean on arrival. We would have no hesitation in booking there again but notice that it is heavily booked up this year. Perhaps Sykes in this regard could help us by filtering through similar properties that are not so heavily booked at this time in advance? We will definitely look to book this property again in the future.
