Comfortable bed. We did find the property very small and dark that was rather depressing when the weather was dull and raining. We didn't really use the garden as it was across the car park.

We were out exploring most of the day so we didn’t really use it for more than cooking dinner and watching tv at night. Everything was clean and the kitchen was nicely equipped. Nice outside area to sit and listen to the birds and watch horses in the field while enjoying our morning coffee. Will be back again!

  • "The log burner doors are loose , when lighting the fire smoke came out so we had to put the fire out."

when told the owner, he did not seem bothered about it. no safety certificate was to be seen. the bathroom needs some tlc loose panels on shower base . we had to cut our stay short because of rain water coming through the bedroom ceiling soaking clothes underneath . also rainwater was coming through the safety light . we were only given £70 as compensation for cutting our trip short and having soaking wet clothes with no ware to dry them . We were offered to move to another property on site but would have to wait two hours or so for it to be cleaned which would take up half a day in total after reporting the problems .

Hi Steve. Thanks for your feedback. We deeply apologise about the leaking roof, this was due to the extremely heavy rainfall & winds the whole of Scarborough & Whitby area received. ( local roads and other businesses suffered too ) The rain unfortunately found its way in. These were only a few drips from what you showed us. As soon as you left we contacted our builders and have since had the roof fully stripped, re felted and reroofed under great expense to ourselves. The log burner's plated certificate is behind the log burner, when you showed us the door, we then showed you that you had not quite closed it properly ( was also a night of very high winds ) - we have also resealed this as an extra precaution. We asked you what compensation you would like and you said £70 so we gave this in cash straight away. We have also given you an extra £75 you requested through Sykes for any inconvenience. We offered you another cottage for your last day & night - we said this would take 1 hour max to sort this for you when you rang at 8.50am. Your response was you did not want to unpack as you were already packed and ready to leave. We would have also gladly helped to dry any wet clothes for yourselves. We do take all feedback on board and we are proactive owners. We do try our hardest to resolve any problems that may occur throughout our guests stay. Thanks Ben & Wendy. Property Owner

Loved the log burner, which I had going on two of the colder nights. Lots of hot water, which was great. I found the lounge diner small, but it was OK as I was on my own. I found the dining chairs and table very hard and uncomfortable - wall shelves mean chairs cannot be used where they tuck under the table.

Spotlessly clean and very well thought out. The bed was comfortable with lovely bedding. The shower was very small and the water temperature erratic but not a show stopper. Wifi is also erratic. The lounge area is very dark with no window but cosy. It is in a great location with parking right outside. A table and chairs outside the door and a private garden give some outside space. The Cinder track is a few yards away so easy access for walks.

Many thanks for your feedback. It is a shame that you did not contact us during your stay as our phone number is in the property for any guest to call if they have an issue during their stay. As we live next door, we could have resolved the issue that you had with the freezer straight away. You will see from the photos and description there is no garden advertised, however we are currently creating one which will be added shortly. It is a compact property but there is a large mirror in the hall with a socket next to it to dry your hair and there are coat hangers on the back of the door. Thank you again for your feedback.
