  • "As other people have mentioned the two ring hob in the boot room needs a work surface, I found cooking between two rooms awkward."

The table and chairs in the little garden could do with improving, the bench against the building was better. A superb place to stay, one to go back to.

  • "A wonderful cottage in a truly idyllic location with a super friendly landlord at the local pub just a stroll away."

The cottage had everything we could have wanted to make the week so enjoyable. Thank you to the hosts. This is possibly the best cottage we have rented from Sykes.

  • "We did enjoy our week in Levisham which is a delightful village, very quiet, and with ample walks in the area."

This property has been converted to a very high standard with top of the range equipment and fittings. The entrance/utility with boot bench and coat hanging space was very practical. The kitchen was a good size and well equipped (really liked the good supply of “herdy” mugs) but cooking on the two ring induction cooker in the utility room with no usable work surface was a chore. What we really missed was a kitchen cupboard for storing food and a decent shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. This is a really well presented cottage with lots of smart features, but the garden when we located it, was disappointing. If like me you are ready for a cup of tea at the end of your journey make sure to bring fresh milk with you, the welcome pack contains a few sticks of UHT milk and there are no shops close by.

  • "I booked this cottage for my wife and I as a mini break for our silver wedding anniversary - and what a good choice it proved to be!"

Lovely quiet, rural location situated in a small village. The owner has modernised the property superbly without spoiling its rustic charm. Very spacious, well equipped and wished we could have stayed longer! The nearby pub serves good quality food and a trip on the nearby steam train is a must! Just be warned, the only road in and out of the village is a bit scary at first with its 1:5 incline and hairpin bend!

  • "The Coach House is probably one of the best equipped and furnished properties that we have stayed in."

The attention to detail was excellent, and obviously refurbished to a high quality with good heating system and facilities, including Aga, second oven, induction hob,. Location is excellent, with good walks from the village and a quiet environment with easy access to the local pub (The Horseshoe Inn- advanced bookings for meals indoors are advised). A very helpful friendly neighbour - and secure parking. At the time of our stay daily newspapers could be ordered from the Village Hall by a phone call. We would not hesitate to recommend this property

We had a fantastic week with moorland walks, trips to Whitby, York and Cayton Bay plus lots of fun in nearby Dalby Forest. We’d definitely return- thank you for a great holiday!

  • "This property was absolutely stunning."

Both the standard of fittings and location were excellent. All very modern appliances and well planned. Nice areas to sit out. We do self catering holidays regularly and this is up there as one of the best. Didn’t use the car all week, but walked out from the cottage door. Numerous beautiful and varied walks.

  • "Good cottage, good location."

However I have serious reservations about the Friday to Friday booking. It normally takes me a comfortable five and a half hours (on a Saturday) to get from home (Kent) to the North York Moors. This time on a Friday it took nearly eight hours to get there and the return almost as long. No accidents or breakdowns just pure volume of traffic. Please tell me why this trend of Friday to Friday has come about. I can see no benefit to the customer what so ever. In future bookings (we normally book a cottage twice a year) a Friday to Friday offering will only be booked as a last resort or not at all.

  • "The Coach House is an absolute gem in the North Yorkshire Moors."

Just wish we had booked to stay for longer! We stayed for a few days just after the Covid road map let us go away again and it didn’t disappoint in anyway. The Coach House has been done up to a high spec but hasn’t lost the ‘homely comforts’ that you want from a home from home. It was a real find in terms of its interior and location for discovering the area. The only downside was that the village pub, which is a minute stroll from the property, wasn’t open whilst we were there. But just another reason to go back!

  • "We, my wife and I and our two friends really enjoyed our stay at the Coach House."

It was a truly great get away. The Coach House was full of everything you would have at home, plus a great Aga, which we have never used before, our wives came away with thoughts of their own for Christmas. Another plus was how it kept the cottage lovely and warm, great when getting back from a walk. There is even a trough outside for cleaning your boots. The neighbours next door were very helpful in explaining places to visit and supplying local maps. Lastly the village itself is small but lovely, topped of with a pub, the Horeshoe, where we enjoyed a lovely meal, and felt very safe during the present situation.

The cottage was beautifully decorated with quality fittings, very cozy and was equipped with everything you could think of. A great place for chilling with the family with a lovely pub with friendly service within walking distance especially as the weather was so wet that weekend. The only small thing missing was long mirrors in both bedrooms but having said that I would most definitely recommend this place to friends and family....book it you will not be disappointed!
