  • "Our 2nd stay at Dovecote and as great as we remembered!"

Beautiful barn conversion, everything you possibly need for your stay is there, very well equipped. Fantastic location for walks & ideal bolthole to explore the whole coastline. James is a great host, nothing to much trouble & lovely to chat to. Looking forward already to our 3rd stay here next year!

  • "Attractive cosy cottage, just like the photos, with lovely views."

Access is a bit tight though. Comfy bed and settee. Nice picnic table in the garden area for sunny days. There are two televisions but unfortunately the signal is a bit intermittent. Would highly recommend the Three Jolly Sailors at Burniston for Sunday lunch if you've got a big appetite! Some nice walks close by with plenty of wildlife to see. Had a lovely stay.

James was there if needed but not intrusive. Great place for astrophotographers if get a clear night. Cleveland way, the cinder track and hayburn wyke waterfall all within 15 minute walk. Would recommend to anyone!

  • "Dovecote is a well equipped and very clean property."

There is everything you could need for a comfortable stay. A bit remote for us as we have limited mobility and had to take the car everywhere. Listing says pub is 0.2 miles away, the drive to the main road is more than that and the road to the pub is very steep. Pub food amazing. The listing also says the shop is 0.4 miles away, however the nearest shop is a couple of miles away. The farm shop is no longer there.

  • "Excellent cottage in a great location with lovely views from the driveway."

We thoroughly appreciated our stay at Dovecote Cottage. Owner James was welcoming but unobtrusive. He seemed to have thought of everything in converting the building to living accommodation: it was comfortable, stylish and well equipped and made excellent use of the space. Great walking from the door along coast or Cinder Track. Convenient for both Scarborough and Whitby. We were planning to return next year but the price seems to have increased considerably.

Dovecote cottage was very well equiped, a lovely farm building conversion mixing old and new features, the location is ideal for exploring the beautiful coast and moors, you can set off on walks on the Cleveland way and cinder track direct from the property. The surroundings are peaceful with fantastic views along the coast towards Scarborough which is only 15 minutes drive away. There are several local pubs that do good food, best to stock up on provisions on the way as no shops in the village.James the owner lives in the farmhouse behind the cottage and is very helpful if you need anything.

  • "A lovely cottage that was very well equipped."

The directions were clear and the situation lovely. The owner was very friendly and helpful and generally always around to contact if necessary. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was very clean. Very comfortable although I did not give top marks for that because the sofa was not so comfortable for me but as we were out most of the time it was not too much of a problem. Less emails from Sykes cottages after we booked would be appreciated!!!

  • "Booking Dovecote Cottage was easy on the website with a clear explanation of the ..."

Booking Dovecote Cottage was easy on the website with a clear explanation of the layout and facilities within the cottage and surroundings Arrival was easy with instructions and key code entry The cottage was exactly as described and is perfect if you are looking for a cosy Base for two in order to explore the area - we intended to spend our time walking both the Cleveland Way and Cinder Path both of which were accessible from the cottage within minutes Although the weather was cold we were lucky to have dawn to dusk sun and as a result found the walks varied with stunning views of the Coast - the lovely tea rooms at Ravenscar were particularly welcome since all the local pubs were only opening their gardens for outside drinking and eating at weekends - a shame as our booking was Monday to Friday - and we would have loved to try them - as a result we binged on the very welcome Netflix in the evenings The cottage is renovated to a good standard and keeps some of its original properties and is well equipped - personally I would much prefer a dishwasher to washing machine but I appreciate not everyone would agree James the owner popped by on the first evening to welcome us and gave us some useful info regarding the area and when we met him subsequently around the farm he was always lovely and helpful - it was a fantastic break and we look forward to returning in the future - possibly into his new property
