Third time here !

! Nice comfortable little place with everything that I needed. Plenty to see round the local area. The Land of Iron museum is worth a visit now it's open again after refurb.

The property is larger than the photos make out,we found that it was not cramped and the trains were a positive attraction.

The bus service locally can be used to travel around but not always arriving due to a shortage of drivers when we were there.The accomodation is warm and comfortable and private.We were impressed with the value that the property represented.We have already booked again for next year!

This is a fabulous self-catering accommodation!

The interior is stunning and there wasn't one thing that we could think of which wasn't provided. We have stayed in many self-catering accommodations and all have been great and provide for all our needs, but this one stands above them all in terms of comfort and presentation. If you are at all worried about the freight trains that pass by, don't be. From inside all you hear is a very feint, low rumble as the engine and 13 wagons pass by. There's a viewing platform a few feet from the track should you wish to watch one, and some timings can be found on the internet (Real time trains for example), but they don't always run to time and it is no use waiting indoors because by the time you hear it, you won't get to see the engine, even though they are only passing at maybe 20 mph. That aside, the property is within walking distance of the X4 coast express and numbers 2 and 5 buses, so there's not really any need for your car which can stay parked at the front of the property. Download the Arriva and Stagecoach apps if you have a smart phone. You can also walk up to Market Place in Loftus where there is a Coop and we highly recommend the Kaskane restaurant in nearby Skinningrove, which is usually quite busy, so book your table in advance. The owners, Brenda and David are very friendly and helpful if you need anything. One thing to watch is that you must cross the road to get to the only pavement. Just a few yards down the hill, there is just a grass verge to walk on, and the sharp bend begins there. So we walked down the grass verge until we could see traffic approaching the bend from both directions before crossing to the pavement on the other side. Not a problem but thought it best to warn people. Lots more that could be said in favour of this property, but hopefully this gives the general impression of how good this place is.

Our second time here and we intend to return, The property is comfortable, well equipped and perfectly located for both the North Yorks Moors and the Yorkshire Coast.

An excellent coastal bus service means the car need hardly be used Superb value for money.

If we could give this property and hosts 10 stars we would.

It's the best! Our return visits year after year prove it. We will be returning in October and would have sneaked another week in if it hadn't been fully booked before then

Station Masters Office is a lovely place to stay , ideally placed for visiting the coast or countryside .

Well positioned accommodation near Loftus (good amenities), Saltburn, Skinningrove (mining museum & beach) and Staithes, so lots to do.

The accommodation has everything you need for a weeks holiday and is good value. The hosts are friendly and helpful and the welcome pack was much appreciated. Thank you.

The Stationmasters Office is lovely and very clean.

There is everything you might need for your holiday and more. Everything inside is top quality. The owners are really friendly and on hand if needed but we were fine although we did chat if we met. The area is very nice, we found places we didn't know existed although we knew the area quite well. We will be booking again although it gets booked up quickly so we will constantly check. If you want a peaceful break this is the place to be.

This was our third visit to Station Masters Cottage.

As always the cottage is one of the cleanest we have been to. Clean towels are provided halfway through the week. Brenda and David keep everything immaculate. The little extras like tea, coffee, cake and biscuits make it extra special. Cottage is. handy for buses to Whitby and Saltburn on sea etc. I highly recommend the Station Masters Cottage

Station Master's Office was a fantastic find.

It was warm and spotlessly clean throughout, from the well-equipped kitchen to the large bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable too. Brenda and Dave were kind and welcoming. They also kindly supplied kitchen essentials such as milk, butter, cake and tea - for which we were very grateful! The property is very well placed for visiting the moors and coast, with Whitby, Saltburn, and Staithes a short drive away.

Lovely bedsit layout.

Very cosy and quiet. Heating excellent and a good shower in the large bathroom. There is a railway line at the rear of the property but this is only for goods traffic and has a very few trains a day and hardly noticeable. Ideally situated for Whitby, Staithes and the north Yorkshire coast. Also not far from the North York Moors. Owners live next door and were very helpful and thoughtful.

This property is very comfortable, it has everything you could possibly need and more.

Owners give you privacy but are there if you want any advice on where to visit. Extremely good bus service for coast line if you want a break from driving. Driving on the moors roads is very enjoyable. Thank you David and Brenda for a lovely stay and the lovely touches to the room.

What a lovely place.

Easy to find and contact for the keysafe was made on arrival. Lovely welcome package of milk,cake,biscuits,tea,coffee. The kitchen was so well equipped and missed nothing. Absolutely spotless throughout. The bed was big and comfortable and we slept really well. Lots to do within a short journey. Soon got used to the trains. They were not a problem. Thank you for a lovely holiday.x

The accommodation was good value, very clean, well looked after, extremely comfortable and had everything needed for two people to have a relaxing stay.

The property's location is good for exploring some fabulous stretches of coastline and beautiful countryside on foot, by train, by bus (Arriva's services X4 & X93 provide wonderful views) or in the car.

Superb accommodation ideal for me on my own.

Situated between Whitby and Teeside with an excellent bus service between both so you can leave the car.Excellent facilities but a small kitchen which is o k if like me you do not cook meals whilst on hoilday.Did not see owners but left me a nice welcome pack for which I extremely grateful.Highly recommendable and will return in future.

I can't fault either. The Station Masters Office is in a perfect location. It's now become our 2nd home and the owners Brenda & David feel like our 2nd family.

It's perfect for us. When we pull up outside my Husband says we are home. Back again in a couple of weeks. Brenda & David the owners are such nice people. They keep the place spotless. It's also in a prime position for visiting other areas. Not too far from the coast or little towns. We just love it ❤️

Brenda is such a welcoming friendly lady,(even cake and biscuits for us). the property is on a sharpish bend,something to be aware of if reversing the car . good bus stops locally , plus the goods train going past the garden is quite something.. the road is as busy as you would expect for a main Rd into town. This has got to be, without doubt, THE best accommodation we have ever stayed in (and we have stayed in a few!

) Comfiest bed ever, every single thing in the property has been placed for the comfort and convenience of the guests. Brenda is a fount of all knowledge regarding things to do and places to visit in the local area. We would like to return at some point in the future.

This accomodation is great, it is very well equiped with everything you need.

It is warm, comfy and very cosy and if you do need anything the owners are just next door

Nice and quiet to rest and recharge from our busy lives. After spending days in Whitby and Salt burn by the sea we enjoyed a 10 minute walk to the local pub each evening.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we required for our stay. Plus the added bonus of a welcome pack which included a cake and short bread plus tea and coffee. A special mention to Brenda and Dave who made us feel welcome and were full of useful information of places to visit, eat and drink. They were sociable whenever we met them, but not to intrusive and respected our privacy. It was my wife’s birthday when we were away and they left a card and a gift for her on our arrival. I can’t thank them enough for making our stay special. As I said we will be back

Exceptional accommodation with additional touches such as the welcome pack and change of towels mid-week.

Ideally situated for walking along the Cleveland Way and England Coast Path. We walked from Whitby to Redcar in stages over the week and made use of the very good bus service (X4) instead of using our car. We will recommend to all our family and friends. Many thanks to Brenda and David who seem to have thought of everything to make the Station Master's Office a memorable stay.

Extremely clean and comfortable place to stay.

Welcome pack of goodies when we arrived. Great place to use as a base to explore North Yorkshire. Hosts are warm and friendly but not intrusive.

One of the cleanest cottages we have ever stayed at.

We even had a change of towels halfway through the week. The extras such as cake, biscuits and tea and coffee etc really made it special. Perfect for a couple. The only down side is no freezer compartment.

I have lost count of how many times we have stayed at Station Masters Office now which,proves just how good it is.

We arrive unpack and breath out and smile. Its just perfect. Our little happy place. Brenda and David feel like friends now. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. ❤. A week just isn't enough.

A lovely cosy cottage, very clean and everything you need.

Interesting knowledge of the railway and the cottage. cake, milk, etc were very much appreciated a welcome surprise on our arrival. Within easy reach of whitby, runswick bay, saltburn and other places of interest. Would deffinately recommend.

Can’t fault anything.

Dave and Brenda were very welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely be back a little home from home and so comfortable. It was just what we needed. It was our wedding anniversary when we were there and they gave us a card and a gift, what more can you say. Such good hosts and accommodation that we’ve already booked for next year and it can’t come soon enough a gem of a place.

A lovely place to stay, I have already recommonded it to friends.

Everything is great, lots of welcome treats, I've never know so many and a towel change mid week too. Very comfortable weeks stay. Everything you need, great Wifi and phone cover and TV cover if you wanted. (Sadly we watched the Queens funeral) Theres no freezer compartment in the fridge which I would have missed if it was the middle of the summer but I'm sure if I had asked the hosts would have frozen some for me. Both very kind and helpful.

It may be compact but everything you could possibly wish for was provided, and more! Everything was spotless. We loved the washroom and Brenda even provided clean towels halfway through the week! Usually we need to take condiments such as salt, pepper, table sauces and jams but these were all provided plus lots of other goodies. David and Brenda are such friendly hosts and we would thoroughly recommend The Station Master’s Office.

I enjoyed my stay in the Station Masters Office.

Despite three storms (Dudley, Eunice and Franklin) during the week that I stayed in the area - there was also a lot of decent weather and sunny but windy days. This accommodation was well equipped, spotlessly clean, cosy and comfortable. There was a more than generous 'welcome pack'. There's a large TV with all sorts of features and good Wifi. The property has designated parking, a well equipped kitchen and an excellent shower. For those interested in train spotting - half a dozen pass by each day. The Station Masters Office is a good base for the beaches - the quiet strand at Skinningrove is within walking distance - Saltburn and Staithes close by - as is access to the North Yorks Moors. I would certainly use this accommodation again. .

Would recommend a car as lots of lovely seaside locations with a short drive . Saltburn on the Sea is very nice Victorian town . Cottage was excellent and great value for money, very clean and had everything you needed.

Very central to places such as Whitby, Straites and many more. Ownere Brenda and David very helpful and friendly, lots of goodies left such as biscuits,cake,tea and coffee ans lots of butter and jams. Towels changed mid week which was excellent. Would 100% recommend this cottage and we will be coming back.

The stationmasters office is like home from home, this was our second visit and probably not our last.

An ideal base for visiting many areas of Yorkshire. The hosts Brenda and Dave were very friendly and welcoming with lovely gifts on our arrival and clean towels midway through our stay, everywhere was spotlessly clean and so warm and welcoming at the end of the day. My scores reflected the fact that we could not find any fault.

It's so clean and comfortable well equipped I highly recommend a visit ☺

The hosts were very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly.

We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so on top of the cake milk and biscuits they provided we were then given a card and bottle of proseco. which was gratefully accepted. The cottage was spotless and had everything we needed The pictures do not do the cottage justice as it was more spacious than we thought, The bathroom and shower were exceptional. The covid packs that were left for us was a great idea even down to rubbing down towels plus an umbrella and walking stick. The railway viewing platform is a must for the railway buffs. The outside converted waiting room was ideal for a nightcap or early tea or coffee.. Overall we would thoroughly recommend this cottage to all. Loftus itself is very run down due to the economic climate the local pubs did not serve meals but travel 2.5 miles to Easington and The Tiger Inn is spot on.

Although the property looked small from outside, it had a sizeable living area, huge shower room and a very well equipped kitchen.

The porch was useful too, for storing walking gear, especially when the weather was inclement. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and looked newly decorated. A lovely surprise was a welcome pack, the milk especially was a nice thought and very useful. Halfway through our week's stay we were brought clean towels, which was great and certainly not expected. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or more hospitable. They seemed only to pleased to share their knowledge of the local area, great for if you are keen walkers. I would happily recommend the property to anyone who wants to explore the surrounding area.

Cottage amazing- could not be better!

Fantastic location near a lot of interesting places.

Wonderful studio style accomodation, lovingly prepared with excellent little touches like tea, coffee and condiments.

Plenty of recommendations for places to visit along with places to eat. Brenda even changed our towels after 3 days which was very thoughtful! Plus you can go and see the trains from the viewing platform! We would highly recommend and hope to visit again as definitely didn't have enough time to see everything!

Having been in various cottages we are somewhat sceptical as to what we find.

This time out of all the cottages we have used over the years this one stood out. Brenda and David the owners have thought it through and provided everything you need for a relaxing holiday. They were extremely helpful in suggesting places to visit that we would not have thought of and the railway line behind the property is quite novel. The Stationmasters office is a good base to visit that part of Yorkshire

Brenda was a lovely hostess, chatting with us and giving advice about things to see in the area.

We had a very good "welcome pack" of shortbread & cake, and milk in the fridge. Plenty of tea bags, coffee sachets and condiment sachets were provided. The bed is super comfortable and excellent quality bed linen. Great size shower room. The only thing lacking (not a biggie though) is the fridge has no freezer compartment, so no ice cubes for drinks. We enjoyed sitting at the back of the house in the covered gazebo watching the occasional goods train pass by.

Spotlessly clean, well appointed.

Brenda and Dave anticipated everything you might need, including a hairdryer. Generous welcome pack, plenty of cleaning products and thoughtful touches like condiments and a change of towels mid week. Owners of other holiday lets could learn from them. Access to the front garden is a kind gesture, we took advantage of sitting in the sun watching the world go by. The porch is great for shoes, coats etc. This is a beautiful part of the world, easy access to beautiful countryside and beaches.

Close to all seaside's along that coast. Host's really nice people and will give you any information. We can recommend.

Lovely property.

A good base for exploring Saltburn and surrounding areas.

The cottage was centrally located to visit all local areas .

The facilities were great and the cottage was very clean and comfortable.

The size of the accommodation was larger than we expected.

There was a large porch before you went into the cottage where you could hang any wet clothing etc. The bathroom was a very good size with a lovely large shower. It was like a home from home with everything that you could possibly need. We were given clean towels and tea towels half way through the week. There were radiators in every room and two in the main room. Good parking. A few minutes and you were on the Moors. We had an excellent week.

This is the best self catering accommodation that we have stayed in.

Perfect for 2 people who need a bit of relaxation but its also close enough to the coast and shops oif you want to go out and about

Spotlessly clean, with a spacious bathroom and a well equipped kitchen. Bigger than we expected, as there's also a porch where you can leave coats, shoes, bags etc. Brenda was very friendly and helpful, with advice on where to visit and clean towels half way through the week. Lovely spot at the back to sit out, or in the front garden if you want sun. We slept extremely well, amd would defintely return next time we visit that beautiful part of the country.

Very comfortable and clean, and there are plenty of kitchen utensils etc. Lovely welcome gift of cake, biscuits, tea, coffee, condiments. Also, plenty of washing/cleaning bits etc. Lots of useful information on how things work as well as guides and takeaway menus. David and Brenda are really hospitable and helpful when needed. This is very good value for money and well placed for visiting the usual hotspots in the area. I would highly recommend The Station Master's Office for a holiday.

Had a 5 night stay at station masters cottage for my 60th birthday, I couldn’t have asked for more, it was extremely well presented, everything that you required, definitely a 5 star place to stay.

Lovely accommodation, well equipped kitchen, very comfortable bed, generous sized bathroom with good sized easy access walk in shower.

Lovely owners. Great location for exploring the beautiful coastline & villages and North Yorkshire Moors. We shall return.

Cottage spacious and very clean.

Owner and family very friendly . The welcome pack and the mid week towel change were a plus. The train line was added interest ( but not in the middle of the night. However this was due to a catch up after a bank holiday and was not normal). More road noise than expected but then home for us is on a very quiet street. Lots to do in the area. Overall we had a great week.

The cottage was immaculate, bed comfortable, everything we could have needed was supplied - including plenty of tea bags, coffee, condiment sachets.

The cakes and milk were a very nice bonus touch . The trains were scarcely noticeable .

Beautiful apartment, converted from the former station master's office next to the owners property with every convenience and more.

Tastefully furnished to a very high standard. Welcome pack provided with milk, cake, biscuits, tea & coffee which was a nice surprise. Loftus is a convenient place to stay being only 4 miles from Saltburn ( we caught a bus from the main road) a beautiful, little seaside town, less frenetic than Whitby but equally charming, and Staithes a similar distance in the other direction. Lovely walks are accessible from the property and this area must have one of rhe most beautiful coastlines in England.

Good location for exploring the coast.

Very comfortable bed and surroundings. Loved the train at the end of the garden. Brenda was a very good host and we would be happy to stay here again.

The station masters house is probably the nicest place I have booked so far [and I have booked a lot of cottages over the years] When I arrived after a long journey.

I found tea,coffee,milk even cake and biscuits ..the owners really have thought of everything.lovely bed, large bathroom with huge shower . towels and tea cloths changed midweek . The place is clean bright and airy . As railway enthusiasts we were thrilled to have a goods train chugging down the line to and from boulby mine a few times a day . If you enjoy exploring and getting out and about this is the place for you . Heritage steam railway starts in whitby which is a short drive along the coast with beautiful scenery to stop and look at along the way. would definitely return to the station masters house

The cottage was immaculate, spotlessly clean, very restful and tastefully decorated, we were made to feel very welcome with a whole range of things we we have not experienced at other cottages.

It added to and made this holiday one of our top experiences we have had from Sykes.

Benda and David keep a very tidy property.

The weather was'nt too good,but we found the locals very friendly ,good food at the pubs near bye,lots of places to visit if your willing to travel,had a great time.

On the small size but more than adequate for a short stay. The owners who live next door are a lovely couple. Would recommend.

Absolutely fantastic place 10/10 to the owners.

.. 10/10 to the cottage itself . O.K. it rained non-stop while we were there , so make sure you have books and maybe a jigsaw !! Watching the trains go by was such a treat . Loftus itself is a bit of a dump , but the Chinese takeaway is fantastic foodwise . Thankfully there are some really nice places nearby - Saltburn and Skinningrove for example . Don't bother with Whitby - seriously - we went there and couldn't park !!! It was mobbed . Would we go back ? Like a shot .

The house welcoming and the hosts had gone out of their way to ensure we had a great break.

The house was comfortable, well decorated and extremely clean. The only problem was that we will expect all other houses we visit to have the same excellent facilities.

....the place was a delight lotsa nearby places for a daytrip Staithes was good apart from the HILL Brenda and Dave very welcoming, friendly and helpful for pointing at the right places for food etc..... Already thinking mebbe next year ????

This property was a perfect size for a couple.

The owners left tea, coffee, fresh milk, cake & biscuits for us which was much appreciated after our long journey. It was incredibly clean, warm and comfortable. The information on the flat and the local area very thorough. There is a fabulous fish & chip shop in Liverton Mines. Good local walks. We would recommend the property and area very highly. We’d certainly go back again. Thank you

Good base for visiting lots of different places. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Very nice Cottage with plenty to see and beautiful walks.

There is actually no rear garden to sit in.

Just a concrete yard with a seat and table overlooking a broken down fence. You can sit in the front garden which belongs to the owner but it's next to the road. The cottage is ideally located for all the local seaside places Saltburn, Runswick Bay etc. Don't be put of with its location. Loftus, well the less said about that the better.!!!!! Particularly liked the hessian sacks up to the windows at the pub down the road.!!!!!!

Wonderful cottage, really comfortable, friendly but not intrusive owners.

The property was absolutely beautiful.

The owners had decorated for Christmas for us and left a Christmas card and crackers, which was a really nice touch. We also found a bottle of fizz in the fridge and a Christmas cake and shortbread! They couldn't have been more helpful when we left a coat behind; the lady sent it first class and refused our offer to pay for postage. We had the best time and it made our first Christmas as Mr and Mrs a truly memorable one.

no every thing was great but not keen on Loftus but were out every day

Nothing important but because of the photos we expected a nice garden to sit in to watch the trains.

The photos were actually of the owners garden - we just had a tarmacked yard- & no trains at all when we were there.

Excellent bus service to all walks ie Cleveland way .

Some walks direct , no need for bus transfer

Arrived at our destination on 28thOct for 6 nights on the 4th night my wife was taken I'll and finished up in James Cook University Hospital Middlesbough after informing the owners about what had happened they couldn't have been more helpful and obliging if we had been family and let us stay for two extra nights after my wife was released and was told we could stay longer if she unfit to travel es we had a 3 hour drive at no extra cost for that they have our heartfelt gratitude Brenda and David we thank you so much.

Numerous places we visited and were in easy reach of the holiday home.

The apartment was wonderful, beautifully laid out and had everything we needed.

It was clean and is decorated to a high standard. The hosts were friendly and welcoming and the little extras they supplied was very generous. We felt very comfortable and relaxed during our stay. The immediate area seemed run down but it is a great base for exploring the Yorkshire coast and as it is on the edge of the Moors, some of Yorkshires' beautiful scenic views are around the corner. Saltburn-by-the-Sea was lovely with a nice beach and good facilities.
