  • "The Old Dairy was beautiful and set in amazing surroundings with lovely gardens, loved saying hello to the lambs and nearby horses too."

Chilled and relaxing break. All the home comforts and excellent attention to detail.

  • "Recently had a 4 night stay at The Old Dairy - lovely cottage in superb location surrounded by beautiful countryside ."

Great walks directly from the door and very peaceful. The cottage was warm and comfortable , beautifully decorated with everything you could need. We did struggle with the WiFi unfortunately .Excellent in the main bedroom where the hub is situated but kept losing connection in living/dining / kitchen area. However no doubt this could be easily rectified with a couple of plug in boosters maybe ? The gardens are beautiful and although fully fenced at rear if you have a small or “slim” dog (we have a young Whippet) they can fit through the gaps between the bars in the gates. Despite those 2 points we Still rate this lovely property as 5 stars and look forward to staying there again later in the year as we enjoyed it so much.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Old Dairy, it is beautifully furnished and decorated to a high standard ."

The location was good and a very pretty area. Quite central for visiting other areas. If there is one comment it would be the cottage could do with a few more baking trays/tins, but that is a minor point, other than that it was perfect.

  • "As fairly experienced holiday cottage bookers, we know the drill is to leave it as you find it."

But this was very difficult with the Old Dairy as everything was simply perfect! The fresh flowers, tea and biscuits and cute jug of milk plus bottle of Prosecco on arrival was just lovely, thank you. The luxury bath and gorgeous fire were our favourite parts. Everything was immaculately clean and tidy and everything you could have needed was available for use. The garden(s) were beautiful- perhaps the only minor I could mention was that our 2 mini sausages were able to escape through the metal fence at the back, but that’s only because they’re too nosey! And we blocked it off so they couldn’t get out. Any dog bigger than a sausage would not have this issue and it is completely secure other than this. It was very quiet and peaceful with walks from the door, plus the many little towns and villages within a half hour / 40 minute drive were lovely. Highly recommend the local national park. We had some lovely views with our walks on the Cleveland Way. Owners did not bother us at all, but had left their number in case we needed them. We didn’t because everything was spot on. Have already recommended this to our friends who will book it for later this year! If you are contemplating booking this cottage, just do it, you will not be disappointed and I would honestly give it 5 big fat stars

A great place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Lots of footpaths and bridleways on the doorstep and close by to explore. A good base for exploring the best of what Yorkshire has to offer. A big thank you to our hosts for welcome gifts. We hope to return again in the future.

  • "Just wow! We loved this cottage so much that we booked our next visit on our departure date!"

We travelled from the South West with our dog to visit Yorkshire for 4 nights and this was the perfect location to explore surrounding areas. We arrived in the dark to find the cottage was decorated with a lit Christmas tree and garlands on the fireplace which made it feel super festive. The cottage was extremely clean and modern whilst giving it a countryside feel with the decor which is exactly what we wanted for our accommodation. It felt like home from home. We were delighted to find prosecco, mince pies and fresh flowers on our arrival which was a lovely added touch. The beds we very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting by the fire of an evening whilst playing card games and watching movies under a blanket. On our last night we enjoyed a bubble bath to relax with a glass of wine. The bathroom was always lovely and warm too! Our dog absolutely loved the big enclosed garden we were never worried about letting him out. It was so nice to see the farm animals as we left or came back to the cottage along the long driveway. We even saw an owl sat on the fence which we don't get to see where we live. The area was very peaceful, no disturbances and super dark at night due to no light pollution. It was only a 10 minute drive from Thirsk Town where they had supermarkets and local shops. During our week we visited Helmsley, The White Horse at Sutton Bank and on our last day we drove an hour to Whitby. We wished we stayed longer to explore more. We will 100% be back again, it's the best accommodation we have stayed in and we love Yorkshire, everyone is so friendly and approachable.

  • "We always try to book holiday cottages that feel a little bit special, and the Old Dairy was by far our favourite to date."

Beautifully renovated with thoughtful design choices and quality fixtures. The Bluetooth mirror in the bathroom was fun! It was also spotlessly clean and little touches like Prosecco and fresh eggs were greatly appreciated. The cottage is so warm and cosy. I think really well insulated and with very effective heating. We also loved using the log burner. Our doggo loved the fully enclosed, very private back garden, which was perfectly maintained and had amazing views. If you have a very little dog there may be one spot it could escape, but I’m sure the owners would be quick to offer a temporary solution if requested. On the rare dry mornings we had, we put our coats on and drank our coffees outside just to soak it all in. So peaceful. The location was great too. There are some lovely walks through fields and woodland right on the doorstep. You can even walk all the way to Gormire Lake which I really recommend. Could be very muddy though if it’s been raining for a week so bring good walking boots! You’re also only 40mins - an hour away from York, Harrogate, Whitby (and all the other pretty east coast towns/villages), and walks in the moors. All very doable and scenic drives. I’d also recommend visiting Helmsley. Only 20 mins away and so so pretty. Lots of pubs/cafes and little shops to mooch around. Don’t hesitate to book the Old Dairy - or either of the other two cottages on site! You won’t regret it!
