Bella's Cottage

We had a great week at Bella's Cottage.

It was just about perfect, very spacious and a great base for our holiday. A big bonus was being able to use the swimming pool. If I had an niggle, it would be that there were no hand towels, only bath towels.

This is the sixth time that we have stayed at Bella’s cottage.

Each year there are improvements to the property. This year we were pleased to find grab handles on the bath. The cottage suits us ( an older couple) and would be ideal for a family.

Lovely quiet place with access to a swimming pool, able to use a walled garden and outdoor barbecue area and a pub just over the road.

Second stay here - not far to beaches and nice towns in East Yorkshire - an interesting and relaxing part of the world to visit.

Firstly may I say how friendly and helpful the owners are.

From free garden produce (strawberries were excellent) to allowing us to charge our EV. We were made to feel most welcome. Being there when UK temperatures reached maximum ever recorded the outdoor pool was most refreshing..☺️

Lovely cottage but settees and mattresses uncomfortable and unsupportive.

Gardens and pool fantastic. Road noise but to be expected. Pub opposite expensive and not really accommodating for vegans.

A very well equipped cottage providing all amenities that a large family would require.

Good walks for our dogs close to hand. A very friendly pub directly opposite (and no noise of note on a night time) Shops are a short car drive away. Overall a very peaceful and relaxing location

Beautiful cottage, lots of space, very peaceful and quiet with everything you need.

There was even a friendly pheasant to greet us outside the door every morning.

Great little cottage, stayed during Christmas for a 2 night getaway, easy to find, easy access, very comfortable.

Had everything we needed. Especially enjoyed the pub opposite. Very welcoming and convenient.

Really nice accommodation, with everything you need.

House was warm, as described and had everything we needed for a family week away. Location was really good, easy to get to lots of places and attractions in Yorkshire, but tucked away in a quiet village. The grounds were lovely, and whilst the pool wasn’t open when we visited at the end of autumn, it looked really nice and is a reason why we would book here again. The gardens were lovely too. The Star Inn was directly across the road from the property, but never created any noise to be concerned about. The staff in there were incredibly helpful, and locals very friendly, can highly recommend stopping in for a drink or some food (the latter was excellent and very reasonably priced). The host was easy to communicate with, was very friendly, and helpfully suggested some other places to visit with the kids that we otherwise would have missed. Overall, a lovely spot and one we would certainly look to book again.

This property exceeded expectations.

It was spacious and comfortable and well equipped. Relaxing to be in right from the start: no long list of rules or instructions to get sorted; we were shown around the farm and the different areas and felt welcome right away. Loved the policy for our dogs, who loved the cottage garden and its apples but were perplexed by the ducks outside in the mornings.Particularly good wi-fi. Pub over the road a real bonus, a real local hub ( we saw ponies and bloodhounds) which we are missing already. Area is worth exploring. We will book again for a relaxing rural break.

Our second stay in Bella's Cottage with our dogs.

It has everything we need, plenty of space but cosy in the evenings. We are planning to come back next year as there is so much to see in Yorkshire and we feel at home at Bella's.

Absolutely stunning and serene environment.

Lovely gardens, clean and spacious rooms, large kitchen, large family room, pet-friendly. Amazing pool and sauna. So much joy for the kids and adults. Would highly recommend and will definitely book myself again too.

Nice and tidy property even with being dog friendly ,could do with a bigger flatter area for taking the dogs in or maybe pinch 10 /20 ft of the cows field adjacent to the path.

Swimming pool was clean and warm for a outdoor pool . good tennis court if your up to it .Good beer in the pub right across the road at a fair price and they do food, also a good pizza / kebab chippy at wolds pizza just up the road in Middleton on the Wolds which when i saw the menu leaflet thought a bit expensive but completely wrong for the amount and quality of food . Bridlington had the best beach plenty of parking but was busy might get park and ride next time if dogs can go on bus . Found Pocklington market on a Tuesday to be the best local one .

Bella's Cottage was clean and well-equipped.

Really spaciou, much bigger than it looks in pictures! Facilities were excellent, we made good use of the pool and despite no booking system we never encountered anyone else. Kitchen garden was perfect to let our dog have some off-lead time, she loved racing around all the paths. Cottage was well-placed for us to explore the coast, we had a lovely holiday!

Great stay, host was very good and just left us to it and also replied to any questions we had very promptly, we are talking of staying in the bigger property as i type , great stay , many thanks .

Lovley place but the cottage need updated.

We stayed at Bella’s Cottage for a week in July with very hot weather.

The pool was fantastic to have and we went in twice a day most days. It was also lovely to be able to sit in the walled garden and barbecue and our toddler really enjoyed picking strawberries and feeding the ducks at the nearby pond. A pub across the road with good food and beer and a very well equipped cottage in a beautiful area made this a very relaxing and memorable stay. Beaches are nearby and characterful Beverley to visit has good shops and lots of restaurants.

This is the fifth year that we have stayed at Bella’s Cottage.

The kitchen/ dining area has had a complete refurbishment. It is absolutely state of the art. Otherwise it was as good as ever. We have booked for next year.

Unfortunately we were not met on our arrival and had to find our way around.

Reading other reviews our experience was atypical but we can only speak from our experience. (Hence the 3 stars on this occasion). A written guide about the property would have helped tremendously. The facilities and location were ideal. It was a pity that none of the sash windows were able to be kept open. I know that there are plans to replace them but it would have been great to have had some way of propping them open. (I note from an earlier review that a child was hurt by one falling down on them). The rooms were large, and there was plenty of space. We discovered the pool and made use of it. There was no booking system but it seemed OK and there was no queue / waiting issues. Pub across the road was brilliant as was the regular bus service outside the cottage. We would like to visit again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage is comfortable, clean and very well equipped.

The gardens are lovely and the dog walk was perfect for early morning and late evening strolls.

This cottage made us feel at home straight away.

It looks tiny but is spacious inside and every room felt warm and comfortable. There were supplies of tea, coffee and sugar to save finding them in our bags when we arrived after a long drive. Plenty of space outside for walks and outdoor eating with a lovely pub opposite. We certainly intend to stay here again.

Nice large cottage, well equipped , comfortable and very quiet, tennis court was a bonus kids loved it.

This was a wonderful cottage to stay in, well equipped and really comfortable.

It was really easy to have our dogs there with the walled garden, and walks straight out the door. We had a great week, and hope to return one day.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed.

Olly, the owner was very helpful when I messaged him with several queries. The front of the cottage was very dark at night as the outside light didn't work, Olly said he would call out an electrician, but that didn't happen during our stay. It meant I could enjoy the clear skies and stargazing, but was difficult to walk the dog (and pick up after him) as we didn't have a torch. There was no information folder, which would have been useful, as we didn't know much about the area, how to set the heating or what items went into what bin and also didn't realise for the first few days that there was free firewood and kindling in one of the garages. Positives- The cottage was a really good size, the kitchen had everything we needed, there was milk and fizz left for us in the fridge, the soft furnishings were all of very good quality, nice bedding etc. Free firewood and kindling for cold nights. Owners live on site and were very helpful. Good wi-fi connection meant my partner was able to work whilst we were there. Great dog friendly pub directly across the road. Beautiful rural area. Negatives- We found the settee very uncomfortable, too low and not supportive. Poor lighting outside in the manor grounds, making it difficult to let the dog have a short comfort walk when it was dark. It wasn't clear which areas were for walking the dog and which weren't. Also I use a walking stick as I have mobility difficulties and the paddock for dog exercise was inaccessible to me, which wasn't clear when booking. There was a strong smell of paint when we arrived and some areas were dusty. No information book/file.

There was everything that was needed, bin bags, washing up stuff, even pods for the washing machine.

Welcome gift of biscuits and wine - we were blown away. Had a problem with the hot water which was sorted as soon as mentioned, also the hoover had gone missing so he gave us his - wood for the fire was unlimited along with coal although the central heating was on so the fire was really for cosiness. There was a dog walk and location was great for trips out.

Lovely property with great facilities that I would highly recommend.

Hosts are very friendly and helpful. Was our second stay at this cottage, stayed prior 4yrs ago. Look forward to staying again in the future :)

We have 3 small dogs which were made very welcome.

The kitchen had everything we needed and the dogs were happy to stay in there at night. The walled garden where we were allowed to exercise the dogs was fabulous, we even had our own seating area. We didn't get to use the swimming pool. Possibly on another visit. Loved the cottage.

Lovely comfortable cottage and plenty of room for the 4 of us and 3 dogs.

Lovely location to explore lots of Yorkshire. Cleanliness was generally good just needed some attention to easily forgotten areas such as the microwave and oven but this did not spoil our stay. No hot water when we arrived but this was very quickly sorted as soon as we reported it. Highly recommend the pub across the road, very friendly and food was excellent.

Bella Cottage is a really nice Cottage shame it doesn't have a garden attached as having to walk dogs at midnight for a pee is not ideal Replace the carpet in the entrance hall for something more dog/family friendly.

Muddy boots/dogs and carpet are not ideal Kitchen is lovely, good size and very well equipped Final comment would be, a nice welcome basket would have been appreciated it's the only place we have stayed at over the last 3 years that didn't provide one

The house is generously sized with good basic facilities.

We had a comfortable stay and had everything we needed. North Dalton is a lovely village and was very convenient for us. The heating didn’t seem to produce much heat, though there were electric heaters and, luckily, the weather was mild for December. We would definitely stay again.

Everyone was amazingly friendly and helpful.

The actual estate is wonderful with great walks and not to mention the pub directly across the road. The cottage is well equipped, homely and comfortable. The walled garden was a wonder as was the swimming pool! Highly recommended .

This was our third visit to Bella’s Cottage.

As usual the cottage was in good order with a bottle of milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge. The owner came to greet us and check all was well. At the end of the stay the owner came to say farewell and check we were happy with our visit. We have booked again for next year.

Great location. All enjoyed the walks from the cottage and safe for kids to play. They enjoyed the pool & tennis court. Owners there if needed but not intrusive.

The description was very accurate and the cottage well equipped and comfortable.

We were blessed with the weather and we were able to use the outdoor pool most days. It was in an enclosed courtyard and was a real sun trap! We also had a couple of barbecues in a designated garden area. We would recommend the local pub, across the road for a meal / drinks and visiting Pocklington, Beverley and York. The owners were friendly and helpful and we’re hoping to return in the future.

The owners and neighbours were really lovely people and the cottage was perfect for our needs, clean and very comfortable, the outside seating beside the cottage door and the walled gardens behind the old farmhouse are lovely and quiet, and having use of a swimming pool is a major bonus too. There is a pleasant walk that runs around the sides of some of the owners fields giving access to a public bridleway and the Minster Way footpath which means you have plenty of options for taking your dog for their morning and evening exercise. A really wonderful property in a lovely quiet village which we would thoroughly recommend and hope to be able to visit again one day.

It is much larger than the photos show. Beautiful bathroom and main bedroom, very comfy bed. Friendly owners but not intrusive. Plenty of logs provided. Lovely walks within the grounds. Central location to visit the coast. Definitely worth a visit to the Star pub across the road with excellent food and friendly staff. Pretty little village.

Amazing break at Bella,s cottage I suffer with a bad back so found the sofa,s and bed uncomfortable but that's just me .

Nothing to do with property, but the pub opposite was disappointing. Lots of other places to eat locally made up for it, but a shame as it would have been nice not to have to drive.

This was the second time we had stayed at Bella’s cottage.

It was good as previously. We appreciated the completely refurbished bathroom. The owner was very helpful. We used the property as a base to visit family. It was good to see the village pub open this year and the Wolds Inn at Huggate just four miles away.

The owners were very friendly and didn't bother us at all prosecco on arrival walked us around the farm and said use the pool anytime, fill your bag with apples before you go home, will be back asp thanks olly any dad.

Bella cottage is an ideal getaway holiday for children and grandparents we thoroughly enjoyed our break and the swimming pool was fantastic.

We recommend this property as its next to a country pub with a good selection of food. Its central to Beverly, York, Bridlington and Hornsea.

We had a wonderful time at Bella's cottage.

It was clean and functional and had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and helpful - we were made to feel very welcome. The thing that made the holiday so fantastic was the use of the pool. We had it to ourselves for a minimum of 2 hours a day on a rota. The pool was just the right size for our family of four and a load of inflatables or for a spot of exercise. Between the pool and the tennis courts, we didn't really need to spend much money on going out as all the entertainment was provided. I would totally recommend Bella's Cottage and I'm sure we will be going back there.

Can't recommend this place enough.

In a superb location, plenty of facilities- tennis, swimming, walled garden with fruit and veg for tasting, bbq. Central location to York, Scarborough and Bridlington. Owners very nice and helpful. Cottage was large in size, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Will definitely book again.

We stayed last year and our stay was even better than last year.

The pool and the walled garden were lovely spots to enjoy the sunshine. We hope to return again.

In general the accommodation was good but some things let it down.

Wi-Fi reception was poor, they only supplied one towel each, there were no hand towels, only one tea towel, no welcome pack with information, or just a pint of milk and tea and coffee. Plus the only cleaning material was a bottle of Joy, no bleach or antibacterial spray.

Very friendly and accommodating people.

Only wished we were staying for a longer period. Hoping to return soon in the Summer.

Wonderful location, accurate and helpful information and excellent value for money.

The cottage is in a beautiful small terrace. The rooms are surprisingly large; with a lovely large kitchen with a good sized table and well stocked cupboards; including things like cafetières and graters which are sometimes not provided. A newly installed bathroom with a good shower was a joy to return to after a day’s walking. The house is warm and cosy and we didn’t need to set a fire, though loved the open fire in the sitting room and the ready supply of logs and coal. The BBQ area for the cottage was in the stunning walled kitchen garden which opened onto a small dry valley paddock which was perfect for morning and evening runs for our dog; before a day running on beaches, on the wolds and on some of the most beautiful walks in England. The owners were very welcoming and are clearly keen to provide home from home comfort and convenience. We will definitely return as we have much still to explore in this spectacular part of England; from a cosy, comfortable and perfectly located holiday cottage.

Bella’s Cottage was everything we wanted and the huge kitchen was perfect for our 3 dogs!

We were made very welcome by the owners and encouraged to make use of the swimming pool & the Walled Garden and it’s produce, which we did. We were blessed with Yorkshire’s finest weather too, which made for a perfect week!

We had a very enjoyable stay at the cottage which was really spacious and very comfortable.

Much roomier that we thought a two bedroomed cottage would be. The kitchen is enormous! We had not expected the pool to be open and made full use of it during our stay. We are hoping to come back again next year.

The cottage is old and I get that but , it is very tired,the bathroom is very shabby shower screen door seal is dropping off very worn and very green ,black mould around bath seal ,toilet seat is loose and slipping bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from previous occupants,and slimy soap scum on soap dish by sink,white duck tape holding on bath panel or ?

Covering damage.Most of the windows open but don't stay open so can't ventilate,window catches are missing or not aligned so can't secure,Kitchen is well equipedbut lighting is terrible ,can't see to prep on benchs in the evening,cooker hoodlight not working,no instructions to adjust heating as no fire because of covid? A full length mirror in the bedroom would be nice ! And a new double mattress ,hard and uncomfortable.lounge is comfortable if dated but large damp patch appeared in corner after some heavy rain.All in all not very good ,am very dissapointed .The owner called when we arrived and showed me the gardens etc which were at our disposal ,which was lovely of him ,but altogether a bit run down and needing quite a bit of T.L.c.

The pool was a terrific draw for our grandson who was very enthusiastically using his alloted times and the whole family enjoyed it too.

Overall I would recommend this. Cottage to anyone.

The farm grounds, pool and tennis court makes it a brilliant place for our/children’s holiday adventures.

Loved every minute and can’t wait to go back. The owners showed us around their new property (Bailey House) which looked amazing; definitely will be back!

I chose this, above high spec luxury, because of the tennis court and pool, which were indeed a real pleasure (particularly for confident swimmers, being a uniform depth throughout).

The owner was also very generous in letting us pick fruit/veg from the walled garden, which we enjoyed. The area is very agricultural, though there are places to visit locally - RSPB at the coast, York, the empty sandy beaches. The house is spacious and well equipped.

What a fantastic little find, we absolutely loved our stay!

Bella's cottage was exactly what we needed for a stay with our 2 dogs: even though there is no private outdoor space, we had the use of the big walled garden just across the yard for our dogs to run around in and explore whilst we could bbq and enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine. Part of that area is the 'kitchen garden' where Olly grows seasonal fruit and vegetable - and we could help ourselves to anything grown in there. I must have eaten my own body weight in raspberries and strawberries every morning whilst taking the dogs out! One reviewer mentioned that some of the furniture is a little dated and that is true - however, everything is clean and comfortable, so no complaints there. The kitchen is well equipped with all utensils needed and there was even a pint of milk in the fridge for a cup of tea! The area is fabulous with plenty of hikes and the beach just a short drive away. We had an amazing week and will definitely book again if we are in the area!

We booked the cottage in order to visit family scattered around the East Riding.

The position was ideal . The cottage is deceptively spacious, with each room a very good size. The kitchen is well equipped. Much to our surprise we had access to the large well stocked kitchen garden. The strawberries were particularly delicious. The owners were friendly and helpful. We plan to go again next year

What a superb complex had the best week, the pool area and tennis a massive hit with the Grandchildren did not expect to use as often as we did and felt totally Covid safe.

Owners were so helpful and nothing a problem. Just loved the layout and the gardens had so many wonderful roses. They have just about completed a brand new larger home that we very much hope to come back and stay in with the rest of the family.

It was just a brilliant place to stay the cottage was well above our expectations it was extremely well equipped we didn’t want or need to ask for anything and the family were so friendly kind and helpful I would stay there again in a heartbeat Thank you for a wonderful stay

As we understand the present time is hard.

We had to ask for kitchen equipment on arrival, poor excuse given owner then seemed to bring couple things from his own kitchen!!! Nothing else appeared!! Absolutely no instructions left had to ring for internet password (told had been sent in email never received. )...the cottage could use good up dating..very tired....

We had a lovely week on holiday with the family.

The cottages and facilities were excellent. The cottage was very well equipped with everything a family needs. The owners were very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble. The pool and the tennis courts were enjoyed by all. The surroundings are beautiful. I would recommend a stay to any family.

We’ve just returned from a week long stay at Bellas Cottage.

We found the cottage to be great value for money. It was spacious

The cottage was in a beautiful setting with a walled and gated garden setting just a short walk out of the cottage where we were able to take our dogs and let them run freely , the owner came and introduced himself as we arrived who was a lovely man and also came to say goodbye on the last day and hoped we would visit again in the future !

It was a lovely spacious cosy cottage with open fire and ample fuel for our 7 day stay ! Would highly reccomemend ! Was lots of nice places to visit locally Vanessa Swanborough
