About the property

Lying at the centre of the quintessential coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, is the gorgeous stone-built dwelling of Harrington Cottage.

Renovated to a fabulous standard whilst retaining charm through its exposed beam ceilings, this beautiful abode offers an idyllic backdrop for your next family getaway to the North York Moors and Coast.

Make yourself at home in the airy open-plan living space, home to a chic navy kitchen with a sea of sleek electrical appliances such as an oven and hob, as well as an impressive coffee maker, perfect for showing off your culinary skills whilst friends chat over a bottle of wine at the well-designed breakfast bar.

Retire to the stylish leather sofa and watch movies on the wall-mounted TV, or cross the hallway to the attractive snug and enjoy quality time with your loved ones as you discuss your upcoming adventures.

When you begin to feel yourself tire, climb the staircase up to the first floor and be greeted by two inviting bedrooms including a super-king-size and a twin, each of which have been decorated with plush grey carpets and calming hues, together creating a peaceful space to relax at the end of a fun-filled day.

The bedrooms are both served by a serene bathroom featuring a striking stone wall, where you can escape the excitement as you unwind with a soak in the bathtub.

Start your days with a warm cup of coffee out in the rear courtyard and indulge in a hearty breakfast alfresco-style on those warm summer days.

Be sure to check out the local beach spanning eight miles; you can begin in Marske and walk to either Redcar or Saltburn, with the beach at Marske being dog-friendly all year round.

Venture over to Saltburn-by-the-Sea for a relaxing ride on the Saltburn Cliff Tramway, the oldest water balanced funicular still open in Great Britain, and take in the breath-taking vistas and centre of town, before descending back to the beach and wandering along the bustling pier, Saltburn’s beach being popular with surfers and home to several surf schools with equipment hire.

Admire the well-manicured lawns of the Saltburn Valley Gardens and see the Grade II listed building of The Old Mortuary, both well worth a visit.

Redcar boasts plenty to see and do as well from the Kirkleatham Museum with its beautiful grounds, woodland trail and wide range of exhibitions, to the stunning 360 views to admire from Redcar Beacon, with a day at the races at Redcar Racecourse being a fabulous day out with fixtures held throughout the year.

For those seeking exciting adventures, head to Scaling Dam Sailing Club where a wide range of sailing and watersports are on offer, including paddle-boarding, windsurfing, and kayaking!

Spend the day hiking or cycling through the North York Moors National Park with an array of terrains and landscapes to explore; nearby beauty spots include Errington Woods, Guisborough Forest & Walkway, and the iconic Roseberry Topping where incredible views of Cleveland and North Yorkshire can be enjoyed, with the Cleveland Way always a favourite amongst walkers too!

About the location

Saltburn 3 miles; Redcar 3 miles; Whitby 20 miles.

Marske-by-the-Sea is a small, bustling coastal village with long, wide, sandy beaches. Originally an old fishing village, today it has a selection of local shops and pubs, which cater for all the family, plus the safe, sandy beaches, sand dunes and fishing boats are an enticing attraction. Places of interest nearby include Captain Cook's birthplace, the mining museum, and the Zetland Lifeboat Museum. Within easy reach of this quaint village is a horse riding centre, the stunning scenery of the North York Moors, through which runs a steam railway line, and the numerous pretty inland villages and fishing villages including Staithes and Runswick Bay. The old Victorian spa town of Saltburn is just 3 miles away and it's an easy drive to other seaside resorts such as Whitby. A great base from which to tour the area.
