The Stables

Everything was as expected, unfortunately because of a change in the weather the owner came round to show us how to work the heating.

This done everything was cosy and comfortable.

We had a good week at the stables,first impression was how clean everything was,had everything we needed for a comfortable holiday.

It is tucked out of the way so was hard to find first off , but considering it is in a built up area it was very quiet and private. The only issue was the size of the kitchen , you couldn’t get two people in there to prepare anything and there was not enough worktop space. We have to do our own meals due to my wife’s kidney diet so it was probably down to our own issues that we found it’s difficult. Over all we had a good time .

A lovely clean and comfortable holiday cottage.

It was spacious and well maintained and suitably decorated for a seaside location. It was well placed for both visiting local shops and nearby Saltburn and Redcar. The area is provided with a wide choice of take-aways. We would highly recommend the Sunday lunch at the local Zetland Hotel and the Orange Tops at the Coastal Cafe in Redcar. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous welcome pack.

Short 3 night break over the Easter weekend, The Stables was ideal very cosy clean and modern just off the High Street and very close to shops, only 5 mins to Saltburn by the Sea and 20 mins to the quaint village of Staithes

Ideally located with a large car parking space in front of property.

Lovely gesture from owner providing welcome pack of milk, tea & coffee. If you want to hang up your car keys the bus stop is within a few minutes walk. We decided to visit Saltburn on Sea by bus which was approx 25 mins & Whitby which was just over an hour. If you fancy walking you can go via beach to Saltburn or opposite way to Redcar which I would have loved to have done but unfortunately I couldn’t attempt as recovering from broken ankle. Zetland Hotel is good for drinks & does a fantastic Sunday lunch & is only about a 5 minute walk.

This beautiful and very comfortable cottage was a lovely relaxing holiday accommodation.

Had everything you could possibly need, a welcome pack that was very much appreciated. Set behind the Main Street with private parking and within easy walking distance to shops, takeaways, cafes and the beach. Will definitely go back it was a really nice area, quiet and peaceful ☺️ the owner was very friendly and on site should we have needed any help (which we didn’t)

Bungalow was excellent and very clean.

It is a perfect location just behind the high street with restaurants, pubs, coffee shops ,butchers and many shops within a two minute walk. The beach is about a ten minute walk where you can walk to Saltburn in about 45 minutes.

Being set in a quadrangle of flats, garages and this bungalow it was lovely and quiet.

Very handy for the little town centre and a short walk to the sea. As a base to see the area this a great base.

Excellent location tucked away enough for a restful break but central with easy access and short walks to lovely friendly independent shops, cafes and restaurants and the beach and coastal path.

Beds were wonderfully comfortable, cottage fresh and spotlessly clean and very kind , helpful welcoming host with communication on keys. Welcome pack was a boost when we arrived. We didn't use the car during our stay which was wonderful , it was a perfect location for walking, buses or trains to a variety of locations.

Excellent stay and nice and clean

I enjoyed 7 weeks home from home in this cottage, ideally situated for shops, public transport and lovely walks along the beach.

Many ,many thanks to John and Helen for making my winter break so enjoyable. I visited lots of places and had many meet ups with family and friends. I am looking forward to returning next year.

First class accommodation, in a quiet courtyard, the layout was excellent.

Great place to stay this was our 3rd visit,hope to be back next year,only one thing it needs a shelf in the shower and a soap dish,other wise no complaints,thanks to the owners as we were ery happy with our stay.

I just feel that people need to be made aware that the Cottage is at the back of a private driveway off the High Street.

Even though we had a my Google maps it told us we were at our destination but we couldn't find it. We had a lovely stay ❤️

The Stables is in a perfect location.

The property is spotlessly clean and comfortable and suited us down to the ground. The welcome pack of a bottle of prosecco, milk, orange juice, biscuits etc is a very nice and thoughtful touch.

Lovely, clean and cosy cottage.

Nice and airy. Nicely tucked away behind the high street. 5-10 minutes walk to the beach. We enjoyed walking miles on the beach in both directions and on the costal path. Great 3 night break.

Everything you needed, and the welcome pack with Proseco was a very nice addition. The owner introduced himself to us, and was very obliging and friendly. Situated close to all ammenities, and distance from beach was a nice easy walk. Would highly recommend.

The property was lovely and clean and extremely well located.

On arrival there were tea bags, milk and a bottle of sparkling wine, which was a lovely surprise. The kitchen was a little cramped and the extractor fan in the bathroom was very loud. Overall a great place to stay.

Lovely cottage, very comfortable and all you needed, owner also close by and friendly, close to the high street with small supermarkets and cafes, also the beach only a short walk and Redcar and Saltburn was an easy 1 to 2 mile walk along sea front.

The house was lovely and quiet even though it is centrally located in town.

Enjoyable walks to the beach. Very convenient location for the baker, butcher, and grocery. Quick drives to Saltburn and Redcar. Having your own parking spot was perfect. Paul was lovely and we very much enjoyed our stay, if we needed to be in the area in the future, we would definitely inquire again.

The property is excellent.

So clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated and very tasteful. We enjoyed the location, which is just off the high street yet very quiet. Some good cafes and a couple of good restaurants.. recommend the butcher and grocers too. The short walk to the sea . Every one is very friendly.

This property is very well situated in a quiet area and very handy for the shops and a pub over the road.

It was only a few minutes walk to either the Co-op or Sainsburys Local. It was well equipped and very clean and comfortable especially the beds. We loved the added surprise of a welcome pack which came in very useful. The owners had thought of everything and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it.

The owner had obviously put much time and effort into preparing and presenting the property and had given thought to what facilities holidaymakers might need and appreciate. Halfway through the week he called on us to check that we were comfortable and that all was well (which it was.)

The property was beautifully decorated and clean.

Beds were very comfortable and heating easily adjusted (November). A tiny kitchen but everything needed is there. The owner is local and very happy to help with any problems. The cottage is situated behind the main street so is handy for local shops and take aways. It's also only 10 minutes walk from the beach or a short drive (or long walk) from Redcar and Saltburn. Definitely recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Stables in Marske.

The cottage is well situated and there is lots to do in the area. Handy to have a car parking space right near the front door although the Lane from the High Street is a bit tight. The cottage is small, especially the kitchen but there is everything you need for a comfortable stay. Oven gloves would be appreciated but overall I would recommend staying at the Stab.

Situated near all the amenities, whilst being private and quiet, we definitely would stay there again if we return to area.

A super little retreat from the world, comfortable and immaculately clean throughout.

Husband was particularly pleased with the size of the tv which is usually minuscule in most properties. Marske is a lovely village and the local shops are worth a look. The beach is lovely too and would be great for big and little kids alike, with a wide sandy beach along with pebbly parts for fossil hunters.

Excellent holiday in a superb cottage with all the facilities required to ensure there were no problems at all.

Bedding and beds were everything we could have wished for, fresh air and excellent nights sleep made our holiday. We have recommended the address to friends with a 10/10 score.

We were delighted with this property and the very helpful owner plus the additional bonus of our own parking space.

Fantastic holiday cottage.

Parking space directly outside the cottage and it’s just off the main road which is nice when you have small children. Very spacious living space and super clean. Kitchen is very bijou but has everything you need. Owners nearby for anything you need. Would definitely return.

The cottage was really nice , and clean , not far from the shops in marske by the sea ,the week went to fast but we enjoyed it , will hopefully book it again next year .

Great location for visits to the coast and the North York Moors National Park. The welcome pack was a nice touch and very much appreciated. It is easy to understand why some people are on their second and third visits to the cottage. Will definitely recommend it to family and friends.

We were very impressed by "The Stables".

It is comfortable, very well equipped, and so clean, everywhere...in fact, the bathroom really sparkles with cleanliness! The beds are very comfortable so we all slept well! The cottage is hidden from the road, so it's very private, and there's a little patio with tables and chairs to allow guests to relax outside. There are plenty of shops within walking distance, and of course the beach is nearby. A lovely welcome pack was provided, which was a nice surprise. We hope to spend another holiday there and have no hesitation in recommending "The Stables" to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely relaxing week's holiday!

Great location,owner very helpful and the cottage had everything we needed.

The owner was there to meet us and was very helpful and provided Proseco biscuits milk and orange juice.

Perfect for anyone with mobility issues as all on one level with a walk in shower. Ideally situated for North Yorkshire and Teeside. Friendly owner who is on hand if you have any problems.

We had a lovely stay at The Stables cottage, Paul was very helpful and the cottage was well equipped ad we had no problems on preparing some meals in the house, everything was very clean and tidy and the welcome gift (milk, biscuits and chilled prosecco) was very well appreciated specially because we arrived quite late.

It is great to have parking facilities at the door and the people around seemed very friendly. The beaches and surroundings are beautiful.

There are good parking facilities and a very helpful owner nearby. The beaches at Marske & Saltburn are beautiful, with a pleasing array of shops and facilities. Everyone we met was so friendly.

no garden, just concrete with table & chairs my husband is not mobile so there was nothing much for him to look at.

When we managed to go out to walk to the beach, so much traffic. The Stables was very clean and the beds were very comfortable but the place was not for us.

Nice little cottage with 2 bedrooms however I wouldn’t like to think there were 2 other people staying with my husband and I, would definitely have been uncomfortable and over crowded.

A perfect place for a relaxing family break. The owner was polite and helpful but never intrusive. The local facilities were very close by and of a very good standard. Highly recommended!

The cottage was very clean.

Furnishings and decor were modern and well kept. The welcome gifts were thoughtful and appreciated. Unfortunately though, we felt that the outside picture and description are misleading as it appears the cottage is completely detached. It isn't as it's joined to a row of garages, each with their own parking. Vehicles came and went. As we had specifically looked for a detached property, and thought that 'courtyard' meant space around it, this was disappointing. Although we had no noise from the garages, we unfortunately did from the surroundings. This included the neighbour opposite who worked unsocial hours. We were woken most mornings between 0600 and 0630 and also disturbed after 2330. Of course, it's his job but, as his van was so close to the property (and noise echoed around the courtyard) the slamming of doors and engine start up was not what we wanted for our break. Another van also came and went, parked just next to the property as it was involved in building work opposite. The shower room was beautifully clean and modern, however the hot flow in the shower and sink were very poor. We mentioned this to the owner who said he would get his son to look at it but we heard no more. If he did look at it, it made no difference. The lack of information in the property was surprising.There was no greeting or information about how things worked. Not everyone would know to look under the router to find the WiFi code, for example. The same applied to the electric heaters. Never having used them before, they took some fiddling to get right. There was information about the cooker and microwave in a kitchen drawer but also for a microwave that wasn't there? There were some leaflets in a rack but some were out of date: a 2017 bus timetable for example. Had it really been there for nearly 3 years? We loved Marske: it has everything you need for a holiday including a friendly pub, The Ship, and some excellent restaurant choices. Everyone we met in the area's restaurants, shops and attractions was friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The surrounding area and beach are lovely. Unfortunately, as beautiful as the property is inside, it wouldn't be for us again.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at The Stables at Marske, it is brilliant and fills all our needs.

My husband is disabled, as it is single storey it is brilliant, well equipped, wonderful. He uses a mobility scooter, so being able to park just outside the property is excellent, and we can walk/scooter from there to many places. The weather was brilliant and over the week we were able to cover over 50 miles in the surrounding areas !!! We will be back, would highly recommend.

We have just returned from a week at The Stables and we found the cottage to be really cosy & comfortable.

There was everything you could possibly want & it was super clean which is one of my absolute musts. The weather whilst we were there was shocking but unfortunately this is something that you cannot control. Give this cottage a try - you won’t be disappointed.

The Stables was a perfect property for us.

Very clean and comfortable and situated in a great position. Easy for shopping, takeaways, plenty of places to eat and very central for all the coast down to Whitby or up to Hartlepool; also great access to the North York Moors. Well recommended. Very kind and helpful owners too.

Superb accomodation.

Set in a small quiet courtyard. Very bright and very clean.everything you could need provided. The owner was friendly and helpful. Shops very close by. Will be returning for another holiday there in the future.

No-one met us at the cottage on arrival.

I had the briefest of conversations with the owner on the phone before we went and was just told that the cottage would be open and the keys would be on the table. That was it. No instruction book re. the various facilities e.g. heating system - we only discovered on the last day that the place had underfloor heating! We had no idea. This didn't matter as the electric panel heaters were very efficient and it wasn't a cold week. But some instructions on this would have helped. I presume that the 'owner' is the chap who owned/worked at the hairdressing salon opposite but he didn't make that clear at the beginning of the week. He was the one who, much later in the week, by chance met us, asked if everything was OK and told us incidentally about the underfloor heating! It's just an issue of a little bit more printed information is needed along with meeting and greeting guests. The place itself was great - 100% clean, well-equipped, quiet, convenient, warm, good kitchen facilities etc. so no complaints at all on that score. Excellent television with Sky if you should want that. We also had access to a garage where we could safely store our bikes. The double bed was a bit 'soft' for my liking. Maybe a new mattress should be considered. Other than would recommend both Sykes Cottages generally and this cottage in particular. A fascinating area, full of history. Some simply beautiful scenery juxtaposed with some post-industrial ugliness! We had an excellent week. Thank you.

Cottage was central to all the places that we wanted to visit which was excellent, nice amenities which were very close by, loved the pub across the road, no tv's, no music, no children, just good beer, brilliant.

Very impressed by welcome pack of some essentials like bread ,milk and even a bottle of wine. Some issues so trivial that I won't mention them. Would recommend this place to anyone. Oh, and the weather was great!

This is the third time we have stayed at the Stables and once again it was brilliant in every respect.

My husband has to use a mobility scooter for getting around outside and the Stables ticks all the boxes with parking by the door and the inside is brilliant too !!! We can highly recommend Sykes Cottages as we have stayed in several different cottages over the years, excellent. We hope to go again to the Stables next year. Thank you

Communication was clear and timely and not too much. The accommodation was really clean and an excellent 'welcome pack' was provided - useful things like tea, coffee, milk, butter and bread, as well as a bottle of wine! it was in a perfect location, close to all amenities and an easy walk to the sea. Situated between Saltburn and Redcar it was an easy walk along the beach to either. A great holiday and I'm sure we'll go back.

The cottage was very comfortable and clean and the Owners Paul and Helen had left a welcome pack for us, which had everything you needed when you arrive at a property, including a bottle of wine.

The actual property was perfect for us with regard to access and facilities.

I am disabled and my husband has some level of mobility problems. However, Marske itself was not suitable as neither of us could access the beach, which was very important to us. We had to travel every day to Saltburn or Redcar to get anywhere near the sea. The only item I would recommend at the cottage would be a grab rail to help with negotiating the three steps at the door.

Owners went the extra mile for us.

Very considerate, helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Lovely welcome pack provided. We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage was very clean and modern inside. Brilliant location to explore both country and beaches. We where sad when our holiday was over. Highly recommended.

The locaion was excellent near the main street in Marske where we could get buses to various places including Saltburn and Redcar. There were many shops within a short walk of the cottage. We shall definitely return hopefully during the early part of next year.
