The beds were very comfortable with quality bedding. The kitchen was well stocked and there was bread and a welcome pack on our arrival. The hot tub was well maintained and the owner came to check we were ok using it. The local pubs were very friendly the pizzas at the Blacksmiths Arms very nice and we had a nice meal at The Crown. We had snow when we were there and found the locals were helpful and the roads were gritted so we had no problems. We would stay again.

The owners communicated everything we required pre, during and post our visit and performed regular maintenance on the Hot Tub. They also responded and fixed very quickly, a broken door handle we advised them off. The freshly baked bread, milk and welcome gifts were a lovely touch. One thing to consider is providing a bread bin/box of some kind to store the lovely bread in if it's not eaten in one go :) The setting is also fabulous with lots of easy walks and great information provided in the cottage about all there is to do in the area. Pizzas at the Blacksmith's Arms were very good, as were the Fish and Chips in Middleton. Look forward to exploring this area some more in the future.

The circular walk to Middleton along the Tees is simply stunning, Middleton itself has enough amenities to keep you supplied throughout your stay . So many places to visit and explore , High Force and Low Force Waterfalls , the market town of Barnard Castle or simply just roaming through the countryside taking in the stunning views , there is something for everyone. After a days exploring, the hot tub is ideal for aching limbs while dinner is cooking. Karen and her team were very helpful and informative throughout the duration of our stay . The local pub , The Blacksmiths Arms is 5 minutes walk and is a must for the pizzas. Cannot recommend Springwater View enough and would go back tomorrow if we could and certainly plan on visiting again at some point in the future.

Very peaceful and beautiful area. Lots to do: Bernard Castle, Beamish Museum, Durham City, seaside at Seaham, High Force, etc. Our dogs were very safe there. The hot tub was a big hit. The very steep hill outside the cottage might be a problem for a less able person, and for a car in winter. I don't know if it was mentioned in the booking literature.

  • "This is a lovely cottage Karen and her brothers very helpful and welcoming."

Lovely enclosed garden for the dogs a few more comfortable garden chairs would have been nice but there is a wooden table that seats 8 which was great for the barbecues we had. Bread was being made in the breadmaker when we arrived and a box of biscuits was left for us too. Karen came and introduced herself and was very knowledgeable about places to eat and the lovely walks around the area. The hot tub was well used especially by our grandchildren and it was checked every day by the owners . On reflection I think I should have asked for the bedroom next to the en-suite bedroom to have the bed zipped linked for my daughter and son in law as this had inbuilt wardrobes and more storage space than the front bedroom they were in and one of the children could have had the bedroom they had but that was completely my mistake and not the owners. If you are a family of 4 adults and 2 children going I would recommend you request the bed to be zipped linked which is much larger for a couple. I can highly recommend this cottage there is plenty of room to park which is just opposite the front door on the opposite side of the road, the cottage facilities are great, with the lovely garden which is fully enclosed ideal for dogs, the hot tub is a lovely place to relax after the lovely walks that are available close by. Lovely quiet area in beautiful countryside , can recommend the Moorcock Inn we had a delicious meal there. We did not want to leave we had a really enjoyable, relaxing time there and would love to return in the future. I cannot recommend this place highly enough .

The owners popped in most days to check the hot tub and gave us some good tips to go walking. The cottage is close to lots of lovely hikes and things to do. The only downside was the yappy dogs next door which didn't shut up (not that this is the cottage owners fault) our dogs just looked confused at what all the noise was about. • "Whilst there were only 2 of us staying at this cottage, it was obvious that it would comfortably accommodate the 8 that it sleeps."

It was immaculately clean and the facilities were more than adequate. The main bathroom has been updated since the pictures were taken and it's been done to a high standard, the walk in shower was brilliant. I booked this house specifically because of the canopy over the hot tub, they are a rare find but very welcome on rainy days, hence why I ended up with such a large house for only two of us. The hot tub was perfectly located, not far from the back door of the house and had a beautiful view. It stayed really hot for a long time and was really well maintained. Despite the size of the lounge the wood burner kept it really warm and cosy and once you'd used up the supply of logs left for you, the garage just down the road sold them. When we booked we didn't know what was going to happen next with the pandemic so we were prepared to cook our own meals, however we only had to once. The kitchen was well equipped and appeared to have everything you might need. We found a couple of nice places to eat as the restrictions didn't change whilst we were there. We had lunch at the nearby Rose & Crown at Romaldkirk which was exceptional and another day we had an excellent evening meal at the Forresters Hotel and Restaurant in Middleton, which offers French cuisine. We visited the ruins in Barnard Castle and the town has a supermarket so not to far to travel to stock up on supplies. We also visited the High Force waterfall which was absolutely breath taking. We drove to a nearby reservoir but it was closed for visitors as they're doing some maintenance, however it was a beautiful drive around the outskirts and this area is a really lovely part of the country. Overall fabulous few days and having lost a couple of foreign holidays this year, we now feel like we've been away. Highly recommend this Cottage and we can't wait to come back and see more of the area.

The owners left us homemade bread, biscuits and sweets which I thought was a lovely touch. The hot tub was amazing just what you needed after a lovely long walk. Would recommend this cottage and hope to return in the near future.

  • "The cottage was beautiful."

Owners very welcoming, bread baking when we arrived, which was a nice touch. Surprised to find cupboards had quite a few basic necessities in them. Lovely quiet location, very scenic. Only downside was the British weather!
