  • "We had a great few days staying at Armstrong Cottage."

It's in the ideal location between the grand Beverley Minster and the lovely old High Street. The cottage was perfect for our family of four. We highly recommend the Greek Restaurant just along the High Street.

The property was well equipped and comfortable. The only tiny thing is the lights in the property aren't that bright. It's a small detail, and we would happily come back as we had a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Very well equipped with welcome package of wine & snacks on arrival. Beds are very comfortable and plenty of towels available for bathing/showering. Just a note to remember to register your car with the owner as the lane is parking permit only and spaces are tight.

  • "Armstrong cottage provided an Ideal longish rental for my wife and l over a 3 month period as our home was being renovated."

Great Beverley location,3 minute walk to everything, permit parking outside,we always found a space. Cottage was more spacious than it looks. Bed's really comfortable, good quality sheets and duvet. We needed heating for some of our stay and it was easy to turn on and kept us cosy. Lovely welcome pack and responsive owners. No real issues however living room chairs and sofa less comfortable than they look, TV could do with an upgrade and we couldn't find a bread knife. Super little cottage and one we can thoroughly recommend.

  • "Excellent property and centrally placed in the town."

Town centre for pubs and restaurants only a stones throw away. Railway station a few hundred yards away to use for easy access to the east coast, if you don't want to drive. Great welcome pack provided by the owners on arrival and there is on street permit parking available. A phone call to the owners will enable the permit parking once your vehicle registration has been provided.

Loved the decor and kitchen was well equipped! Parking was fine just need to be patient and give yourself a few mins extra to find a spot. Had a really lovely time and the location is perfect to explore Beverly. Only slight snag was the arm chairs in front room were not comfy when sat in for a long time - perhaps if updated in future could be looked at, only a minor thing though didn't impact the stay in anyway. Really nice property, would happily stay again.

  • "We did leave some suggestions which the owner may consider acting upon."

We enjoyed our stay very much and the cottage was ideally situated for Beverley centre. Some observations: The toilet didn't remove everything when flushed and had to be activated twice for a satisfactory result. The radiator in the bathroom didn't heat up like the other radiators in the house and consequently the bathroom wasn't as warm as it could have been. We imagine a cleaning company looks after the house as there were a few issues with hairs on the bathroom floor by the waste bin and in other areas. These comments were not written to present a detrimental view of the property and did not appear in the guest book, but simply to highlight minor improvements.

Very clean and well appointed. The location was excellent. Our car never moved from arrival to departure, we went by train to Bridlington, Hull and Filey and could not fault the train service. Would definitely recommend the cottage and a visit to Beverley which is a lovely town. Overall an excellent holiday!

The railway station was at the bottom of the street and we went to Hull for the day by train. It was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The owners left flowers and a lovely welcome pack. We would recommend this property and would love to return as we didn’t manage to sample all of the hostelries or eating places.

Parking outside cottage (with permit). The cottage has been totally refurbished during lockdown and is well stocked. The kitchen/dining room would be very cramped with 4 people. My main complaints would be that floorboards squeak a lot upstairs on the landing and secondly there are no sheets on the beds, only a thick duvets. It was hot when we stayed there.

Just minutes from the historic Beverley Minster, you can hear the beautiful bells (in the front bedroom and lounge) and also be on the doorstep of Wednesday & Saturday Market with all its fantastic shops in this historic market town. The cottage has everything possible for your needs, is spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. Helpful owners too so this is a place we will definitely visit again. It's well situated as a base for visits around Yorkshire and has a good road network to the Humber Bridge and M62 plus the train station is walking distance from the cottage.

The property

Armstrong Cottage is a homely terraced cottage found at the centre of the historic market town of Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Boasting easy access to the little known beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds, the attractions of the city of Hull, as well as the coast and the North York Moors National Park, it makes a wonderful choice for families or couples seeking a fun-filled escape to Yorkshire.

Enter into the sitting room to find a charming wildlife theme in the photos hanging on the blue painted walls, the neutral checked seating arrangement adding a touch of contemporary to the room, making it a lovely spot to unwind after each day of adventure.

Move through into the kitchen/diner, the heart of the house, here the whole group can gather around the table to keep the chef of the group company as they prepare a mouth-watering meal with the assistance of the good range of appliances at hand including an electric oven and gas hob, microwave and fridge/freezer, with a convenient washing machine and dishwasher for those longer stays.

Move upstairs and enjoy a relaxing soak in the bath in the family bathroom, hosting a shower over too so you can choose a quick rinse, before relaxing in one of the well-presented bedrooms; a king-size and a twin which can also be a king-size on request due to its handy zip/link functions, both rooms exuding a homely aura with plenty of furniture and space to house your personal belongings too.

Begin your day with a refreshing coffee out in your private yard, a wonderful space for you to relax, before venturing out to explore the wonders of the local town.

Beverley hosts all you could need for a self-catered stay, with a plethora of pubs, cafés, coffee shops and restaurants to take your pick from when you don't feel like cooking, as well as a selection of shops for any last-minute essentials.

Just around the corner is Saturday Market offering traditional shopping - grocer, butcher and fishmonger, as well as a supermarket - and within easy walking distance is a wide selection of eating establishments from international cuisine and cultures as well as traditional British pub food and gourmet restaurants.

Known as 'the Jewel of East Yorkshire', this picturesque market town offers plenty to discover amidst its cobbled streets and courtyards, including the Gothic Minster, its own theatre, the Westwood and a popular racecourse, there's something to explore here at any time of year.

There’s a variety of shopping and you can explore the twice weekly market where you can pick up some local produce for a romantic picnic, and be sure to visit for the Beverley Folk Festival, the Early Music Festival, the Puppet Festival or the annual Christmas Market for a day out to remember.

Beverley Station lies at the end of the street, providing direct access to Hull as well as the Yorkshire coast and the new Flemingate Centre with a cinema, shops and restaurants.

Within easy reach, the port city of Hull is popular for its The Deep aquarium with over 3500 fish, an underwater viewing tunnel and interactive displays, as well as being home to Ferens Art Gallery, Hull Minster and the Museum Quarter where you can find a range of family-friendly attractions such as the Streetlife Museum and Commercial Museum amidst Hull's Old Town, as well as the National Trust Maister House, an 18th century merchant's house boasting Palladian architecture; with Hull still enjoying it’s recognition as City of Culture from 2017 it is well-worth exploring.

Roam the marina of Hull to find a good selection of inviting eateries, or venture out to Hornsea, Bridlington or Scarborough for a traditional day by the sea and to find a beautiful beach and a charming atmosphere.

In easy reach of so much countryside and coastal wonder, Armstrong Cottage is an exceptional choice for your escape to Yorkshire, with so many fantastic attractions on your doorstep.
