  • "Lovely comfortable cottage in stunning location."

Didn’t appreciate how steep the steps up to the property were from the photos but it kept us fit unpacking the car and every time we went out! Very cosy when heating was on. Garden great but unfortunately gate to the side path was broken and left off and against a tree so had to keep an eye on dog, garden would be perfect once fixed. Also impossible to keep kitchen floor clean as grass very wet when we were there and suggest a “dirt buster” mat would be a good addition inside the kitchen. Apologies for wet wipes left with tea towel when we left, used to wipe up from final bin trip! Only other criticisms were there was no soap at all in kitchen or bathroom, found an old hand sanitiser and luckily had packed a small bar for bathroom. Also it would be really appreciated for even a small welcome pack to be provided, even a pack of local biscuits and milk. There was a pint in fridge but it was dated 17th Sept and we arrived on the 27th! We have been to other cottages for less money and had lovely welcome packs for both us and the dog. Don’t expect a luxury hamper but as I say milk and biscuits even would add to the holiday experience.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have spoken to the letting agent and the cleaner is supposed to replenish the soap. She has also apologised as they left the milk in the fridge. We did agree with the agent to provide a welcome back but they have acknowledged that they haven’t done this and so we can only apologise. We don’t provide for the dog though. We were not aware about the gate but we have arranged to have this repaired. Thank you for staying at our family cottage. It’s been in our family for 50 years and we love it there. Property Owner

SANDSEND

Whitby 2.5 miles.

Lying on Yorkshire's spectacular Heritage Coastline, Sandsend is the ideal place for a family holiday with its award winning, wide sweeping beaches, rock pools and dramatic cliffs. Indeed this part of the coastline is known locally as the Dinosaur Coast because of the many fossils found here. Children will enjoy damming the little beck where it crosses the beach to form a freshwater lagoon - great (and safe) for paddling and boating! For the more energetic the village sits on the lovely long distance Cleveland Way Trail, which offers great off-road cycling along the disused coastal railway as well as breathtaking clifftop walks. The National Trust now own the nearby headland, Sandsend Ness, where there is a delightful nature trail in the old quarry pits. A special place offering something for everyone!
