Eric House

Our 3rd visit to Eric House has been just as relaxing and enjoyable as the previous.

Housekeeping and welcome gifts very appreciated. Good weather all week a bonus to getting about on the coast. Eric house is a lovely place to relax after a nice day out. Hope to return (again).

This was our fourth stay at Eric House.

Everything was perfect as always, and the latest home improvements have made a great place even better. It was very well equipped and had everything you could possibly need. The treats left in the fridge were delicious, and there was also tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The landlord and locals at the Ship Inn made us very welcome, and also remembered us from previous years. A proper home from home, and we will definitely be back!

We've done the Yorkshire coast a lot and this is the best positioned detached house midway between Scarborough and Bridlington.

Bus stops to both right by and Filey just a few minutes away. Comfortable facilities and plenty of room.

Lovely garden area with seating and parasol and filled with flowers and shrubs. So pleased to have found this house and will definitely return.

It was super clean and comfortable. The cakes were a nice and delicious surprise. The photos online don’t really do it justice. The location was great for Cayton (we have family there), Scarborough and beyond. We would definitely recommend this accommodation.

Eric House is a great property.

It’s spacious and has everything you could want. The property is in a fantastic location and it is easy to navigate to local attractions from there. The treats that we found in fridge were a welcomed surprise. Would absolutely recommend this property to any looking to explore the Yorkshire coast.

We really love staying at Eric House, it's so comfortable and has everything you need.

It's ideally placed, so close to Filey, with Scarborough and Bridlington within easy travelling distance. This was our third stay and we shall be back!

We visited last year and can see the huge difference with the interior and once again can't fault this accommodation as the owner has thought of everything you would need for a perfect holiday

One of the most comfortable rentals we stay at. Clean, comfortable and so handy for S/bro, Filey & Brid. I'm sure we'll be coming back again.

Great position for getting around the many coastal towns/villages and the cliff walks.

Lovely house, with areas for sitting to read books or play boards games. The hosts provided kitchen items such as washing up liquid, tin foil etc, which was a nice addition. Also on arrival some sweet treats from a local bakery were waiting for us. Would definitely stay there again.

The kitchen was very well equipped, you had thought of everything we could need. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders in the evening in the garden. House was very clean with a selection of games, books,maps and umbrellas provided! Didn't need the umbrellas as we were blessed with good weather all our stay! Only minor thing was we couldn't switch the stairs light on from downstairs? Beds and sofas very comfortable after a day out in the fresh air. The treats in the fridge were a very sweet touch. Thank you so much, we will return!

The house was spotless and extremely well equipped. It was a proper home from home, and I wish we could have stayed there forever! Muston is a lovely, quiet village and the pub across the road was great and the locals were very welcoming. We will definitely be back!

An excellent location for exploring the the North & East Yorkshire coast.

Really good sized detached property with comfortable furniture and facilities. The upstairs air conditioning was an added bonus during a hot week. Will certainly return.

We had another wonderful stay - our 4th - in this lovely house which has everything needed to make a home from home.

The location is perfect for day trips up and down the coast and inland. We were lucky to have beautiful weather so were out and about early each day and it was great to return to such a welcoming and cosy property. Thanks so much for the delicious welcome gift. We'll hopefully be back later this year.

This was our third time staying at Eric House, definitely not our last.

The house is detached and has private secure parking. There is so much room that you can get some me time. Everything you could need is provided. It is clean and comfortable. Any issues or questions you may have are answered by the owners who are both lovely. Lovely pictures of the area.

Comfortable, clean and everything you could wish for, private safe parking.

We have been before and will certainly be going back again. Plenty of room for everyone... if you want a bit of private me time there is a lovely comfortable room or the conservatory. The kids want to do some drawing then the kitchen table is huge. Washer and dryer and dish washer what more could you need. In summer there is a lovely private area at the rear of the property. Pub not far.

Eric house is lovely we all enjoyed our stay there it was spotlessly clean we all slept well in the comfortable beds the kitchen was lovely had everything you needed and to sit in the conservatory and watch all the different birds was like home from home it is also very well situated for visiting resorts up and down the east coast so can highly recommend and hope to go back

Lovely spacious property, with everything you could possibly need for a great stay.

So many little touches that made our stay lovely, from gorgeous pans and loads of utensils in the kitchen, to lots of games, books, maps and videos, to night-lights on the stairs. Look past the slightly dated furniture and decor - it is the most comfortable place we have stayed!

This house is one of the best we have stayed in and we loved the conservatory and watching the birds and squirrels eating and the ship inn across the road is a bonus as serves great meals, the owner has thought of everything you need and is comfy the only criticism we have is the busy road at some times as can be noisy

Really enjoyed our stay in Muston, beautiful little village and only minutes walk to get on the Wolds Way footpath to Filey.

Ideal for visiting Filey and coast etc . Had a meal in the SHIP INN just down the road which was excellent and recommended !! An enjoyable stay which we would happily repeat

It was a lovely break (weather gods aside!

), nice and comfortable to come back to after a day in wetsuits. My daughter loved the snug for reading and I settled into the conservatory quickly. Lots of hot water for soaks, comfortable beds. A very enjoyable stay.

Second stay at Eric House kitchen update is great, comfortable lounge, smart tv good, wifi good, washing area very good, and bedrooms are very comfortable and spacious, also like the wildlife in the raised outside area and comfortable conservatory.

Very homely with every facility to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and the bird garden a delight. We will be back.

The property was of a very high standard providing everything that we would have hoped for.

Our main diappointment was the location and the closeness to what turned out to be a busy and noisy road. (A1039). The house is only 1-2 meters from the road edge which wouldn't have been an issue if 200-300 vehicles didn't pass most hours. Vehicles included articulated lorries and double decker buses. (Some buses looked to be on a regular route to Scarborough.) On occasions traffic also made returning /leaving the property difficult. The pictures and words in the documention provided did not indicate this issue.

Really enjoyed our stay at Eric House, we had one little blip which was rectified straight away.

So much room and so comfortable. loved watching the birds feeding along with two cheeky squirrels who came every day. Unfortunately the pub was closed until 27th March so couldn't have a pint and a meal without driving. We had a meal delivered from Filey through Just Eat and it was excellent. We would definitely use Eric House again and recommend it to others.

A home from home with everything you need and more for your stay. Comfortable beds made for a great night's sleep and the off road parking was an added bonus! Fantastic wealth of information in the welcome book and wicker drawers full of leaflets! The Ship Inn recommendation was spot on - amazing food in large quantities and friendly staff who treated us no differently to the locals! The fire wood and tea/coffee supplies were just what we needed after a long drive. Would definitely recommend - this place was spotlessly clean and we would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Eric House is a large detached house in the lovely village of Muston.

The back of the house overlooks Muston Hall but the garden is well screened off for privacy. Although it is on the side of the fairly busy road, once inside you don’t notice it. The decor is rather dated but what it lacks in style it makes up for in comfort. Someone clearly takes pride with the cleaning and on the whole the house is well kitted out with very comfortable beds. Good pub across the Road and very close proximity to Filey. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as felt right at home. Would definately stay again. No real negatives, as suggestions, maybe a few more drinking glasses in various sizes and possibly a reading lamp in the snug!

We enjoyed the house even more this time as we stayed in each evening after our trips out during the day when the weather was kind. The location of the house is brilliant for visiting both the coastal resorts and inland villages.You have thought of everything to provide a home from home holiday and the decor/equipment and maintenance is first class. The welcome gift was very much appreciated and delicious thank you. This is the second time we've visited this house.

Its absolutely amazing. One of the best Sykes houses we've used. It's the perfect base to travel around Yorkshire: Filey, Scarborough, York, Whitby. The house is immaculate and has everything you need! Would highly recommend.

Extremely well equipped and very clean. Nice welcome back gift and card left for us. Across the road from a charming pub where the locals and hosts made us feel very welcome. This house lacked nothing and we will definitely be back next year! Weather slightly disappointing after the heatwave a couple of weeks earlier, but didn't stop us walking along the beach every day. So relaxing, I wish we could live here! Thank you.

An excellent base for our family get-together and to meet up with friends from when we lived in the area 30 years ago.

Eric House provided EVERYTHING that we needed. It was very comfortable, clean and well-appointed in all areas.....from kitchen/diner through outdoor seating, indoor lounge/TV room, library room and the three roomy bedrooms. Cannot recommend highly enough. We had a superb week.

The house is an excellent base for exploring this part of Yorkshire, very well-equipped, good temperature control (but see below), clean and comfortable.

Good-sized kitchen/dining area and spacious lounge, while the snug is a nice bonus. Bedrooms decent-size with comfy beds. Bathrooms also roomy. There is good access to Filey and/or Scarborough for things like shopping and entertainments. We arrived in a heatwave, so the aircon was extremely welcome, but we later proved that having multiple sources of heating/hot water was also a good idea when the immersion failed. We were able to turn on the boiler instead. Thanks to Steve (owner) for his help in sorting this out. A couple of small points: for young children (i) a stairgate would be handy, and (ii) the single bed's design is potentially hazardous for a child--travel cot (available) would be a better choice. All in all, a nice house that worked well for 4 adults a 3-yr old and a baby. Many thanks!

Although brief, we greatly enjoyed our stay at Eric House.

Everywhere was spotless and the provision of milk and tea/coffee facilities by the owners was much appreciated. It's a lovely place and the interest provided at the back by the birds and squirrel was most entertaining. The house itself has an excellent layout across the rooms and it is in very good condition. Our only concern was the road outside which carries so much traffic and perhaps your website should mention that the house is located next to a very busy road. We'd certainly recommend Sykes for bookings and we feel that Eric House is a lovely place to stay!!

Yet another winner from Sykes Cottages.

If I could have marked Eric House with an 11, I would have done !. It is a cozy, comfy detached house, outside Filey. It is walkable to the beach via a well established hedgerow walk in about 45 minutes, but we learned to park up in a layby opposite the windmill ( just by Filey's 30 MPH sign) that saved us 20 minutes each day. Filey is old fashioned, and has many green spaces and park benches, and has an air of Georgian gentility. Our excursions were to Pickering ( steam train ), visits to Scarborough, where we found free parking for three hours by the harbour, and many steps and walkways up the hill to St Mary's church, where Anne Bronte's grave can be found ( street parking for two hours there ) A trip to Bridlington turned out to be a bit of a let down, though. Back to the house - the parking area was big enough to drive in, turn around and drive out, but I will say the road was busier than I expected. I especially liked the chimes of the church bell throughout the night, and the dawn chorus from the rookery in a nearby copse. Country sounds that add to a country cottage holiday. Only thing missing was a wall clock in the lounge. Have to mention a nearby pub called The Piebald , famous from ' Four in a Bed' some years ago. Famous for the 52 types of pie available. Did not make it this trip, so I will drool over that menu until next time !

This was a lovely cottage.

I could have moved in and lived here! Everywhere was spotlessly clean, all the appliances worked, and there was enough crockery, utensils and cook ware for whatever you wanted to do. The little garden was a delight and we saw more goldfinches in one day than I have seen in the rest of my life! Sat in the conservatory watching them every evening while I waited for dinner to cook. Owner was friendly and helpful. We texted and he always replied quickly. Nice courtyard for parking. What more can I say? I would go back tomorrow!

We have had the most wonderful stay at Eric House.

The property is beautifully presented throughout and everything we could have wished for was provided. We were so lucky to have brilliant weather which allowed us to sit outside and watch the different types of birds coming to feed. All 3 of us were sad to leave and we are hoping to return later this year if availability allows. Thank you so much to the owners of Eric House for making us feel so welcome and comfortable.

Eric House was easy to find and was warm and welcoming when we arrived.

Heating easy to adjust. We had a very comfortable short stay, as there were on 3 of us. Easy access to Filey and the coast. A shame that we did not have time to try out the local pub just across the road - maybe next time. Our only criticism is the lack of crockery and the size of the cups/mugs. There are only 2 larger mugs and the rest are small. We ended up buying another from a charity shop. There is a dishwasher and we did manage, but if there had been 5 adults, the lack of crockery means you would need to wash up after every meal. Extra plates etc would make a massive difference to the whole experience.

Really appreciated the little things that were provided like tea, coffee, sugar, milk and hand wash, would recommend

We've stayed in a few Sykes cottages over the years and this is up there with the best.

Spacious, clean, warm and with everything you need. The house is lovely. Games books and some great photographs displayed on the walls. We used it as a base and went to so many places close by. Filey, Scarborough, Bridlington, Whitby and Hull.
