Beautiful cottage overlooking the river.

Very quirky with most of the kitchen bespoke. The hosts are very friendly. They have thought of everything you might need for a break. Lovely welcome pack. Secure parking. Pub restaurants within walking distance. WiFi and smart tv.

This was our third trip to Grace's Retreat, it's been a few years since the last but still as good as ever.

Lovely cosy place, with everything you will need and more...and dog friendly too, located near a lovely village and well placed to visit the local towns and visitor spots. We'll be back again, I'm sure!

Grace’s Retreat was amazing!

The cottage is cosy, warm, and beautiful. There are plenty of options nearby — pubs and Spar shops — which made everything so easy. We went to a different hiking area every day, and the landscapes were stunning. I would strongly recommend staying there and exploring the surroundings. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. WOW, what a fantastic place to go for a holiday.

The owners have thought of everything you need for your stay. The accommodation is a real home from home and in a great location. We stopped for 2 weeks and were very sad to leave. It extremely dog friendly and the owners are clearly dog lovers. The courtyard is a good size for your dog to roam around, and the scenery is fantastic as it looks over the river. We also found it to be very private and secure. Within a very short walk you can get to a couple of pubs and restaurants plus a lovely river walk. We also ordered a couple off big shops from Asda and Morrisons. There are also numerous takeaways who deliver via Just Eat etc. ‘Abus’ is good for Indian food. Within 15 to 25 minutes, you can get to some good dog walks. Overall, we cannot fault anything regarding our stay and its worth a 5-star rating. Thank you for a fantastic stay.

This was a lovely cottage located in a beautiful part of the countryside.

Our whole stay was very peaceful and comfortable. There are lots of nice spots to explore and even dog friendly pubs! The cottage itself was very cosy, with lots on offer such as different streaming services, games and books. The owners were welcoming and helpful. Thank you for our stay!

This was a short break for the two of us with our dog, for a Christmas visit back with friends and family.

The accommodation was perfect for our 5 night stay. The place is well appointed for its size and the hosts left us with everything we could possibly need, including a lovely welcome pack and even the room decorated for Christmas with a homely Tree. It is very secure with a private car parking (it would be great for a biking visit as well with the secure area). The hosts live on site which adds to the security. Probably not ideal for a large family but otherwise we couldn't recommend this cottage / retreat with any higher praise, it is great! Definitely worth a stay in a perfect setting.

A bit different from the norm and all the better for it. The ability to include a full weekend in the week was crucial for us.

Spotlessly clean all you would like for a relaxing break, we will be booking again.

The accommodation was wonderful and clean, everything that we could have possibly needed was there. The welcome pack was generous and much appreciated. Our only slight grumble was that the bed was a little uncomfortable. Apart from that, we would highly recommend Grace's retreat.

What a great property!

We found it to be clean and extremely well equipped. It is pet-friendly and there is secure parking. The views to the river and Yorkshire are lovely. The owners are easily approachable and very available. We will definitely return.

Graces retreat is set in the peaceful countryside.

There was every thing you needed when away. The cottage cleanliness is superb. When I arrived there was a welcome box with basic groceries to get you started which was a lovely gesture. There are plenty of places to visit in the surrounding area. Christine

A lovely holiday cottage in a superb location not far from the Fox and Hounds in Neesham which is veryy dog friendly and serves excellent fresh food.

Anji and John (not forgetting Floki, the gentle giant) were the perfect hosts, respectful of privacy but warm and engaging when the opportunity to talk arose. There was a generous welcome pack of scones, jams, eggs, wine, cookies, butter and milk in the fridge, and dressing gowns and slippers if you wanted them. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the shower excellent. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to everyone.

Location is ideal for visiting some of the North East’s wonderful places, and within walking distance to some lovely pubs. The hosts John, Anji and Floki the dog, made our stay very enjoyable and the welcome pack we received on arrival was amazing. Would highly recommend Grace’s Retreat as a place to stay. Nothing to say apart from excellent.

Everything you need is there and the welcome pack was a lovely touch. Anji and John couldn’t have been more welcoming and we loved their beautiful dog Floki. The recommendation for The Bay Horse was spot on, we really enjoyed it. Lots of things to see in the area, The Bowes museum in Barnard Castle definitely worth a visit. Can’t wait to return.

Everything in this property was perfect.

Only downside for me was my dog only likes to do her business on grass.

A stunning property!

I live only 3 miles away yet felt it was a million! Had absolutely everything necessary. Currently obsessing over my roster for work as to when I can stay there again! If there was one tiny observation it would be could there be a lamp to turn on near the patio doors rather than going over to the main light switch in the dark - but that’s only because I returned a few evenings in the dark after my shifts! Just luscious! Amazing! Thank you very much.

Wonderful stay at Grace's retreat.

Instructions for arrival were crystal clear, property was beautifully presented and beyond already high expectations. Had everything you could possibly need. Hosts were perfect as well. Location is ideal for exploring too, would love to come back for a longer stay to take more advantage of this. Highly recommend.

We love the cottage, thankyou for the supplies of food, we love the cottage, We thinking of coming back next year , you made us feel welcome at all times we need help ,we like the personal care, and the friendly, You made the cottage feel like home and place very nice to chilling and relaxing for us and the dog,.

This cottage has everything including the best welcome pack of any cottage we have stayed.

It is ideally located for easy access to the A1M, A19 and A167 for easy access to places of interest. There are nice walks from the cottage. A great place to stay.

We enjoyed our stay in Grace’s retreat.

The bed was comfortable and the living area was nice and well it with the patio doors letting the light in. The kitchen area was a bit quirky with the main part being made of hewn wood. Nice large to on the wall with sky apps available. The only reason for giving it a 4* rating was the fact that the patio area is shared, so when the owners go out and open the gates which are remote controlled (our dog wanted to follow) in that time the dog was not secure. Also when the gates are opened from outside for the cars to enter there’s no noise to give you chance to bring dog in . As our dog is still only a young rescue that we haven’t had long we were always on edge . Just sad it wasn’t a totally secure area for him to lay outside . Having said all that I would still recommend this property,but mention these points

Lovely accommodation great location.

Very friendly hosts, Nice welcome pack on arrival. Secure area for the dogs ( be aware that the gates are opened remotely if the owners bring their car in.) Not a problem with my dogs as they don't tend to stray. Nice walk into the village and surrounding areas

Graces Retreat is a lovely cottage extension of the owners home.

It has everything a couple would want. A large combined kitchen, diner, and living room with plenty of space. A good sized bedroom with a king size bed and a bathroom with a great shower. The property is very dog friendly, and our 3 pooches felt really at home. Dog water bowls and a pet matt resided in one corner of the living room. Treats and extra dog poo bags were left out. A generous set of extras were supplied. Eggs, bread, milk, butter, scones, jams and a bottle of wine. The property is in a good location with a few dog friendly pubs in the village and the next closest village just down the road. Secure parking is supplied for one car, which is situated in an enclosed yard, behind automatic gates. Overall, this is a great place to stay. Can highly recommend it.

An absolute gem of a place.

Situation is wonderful for peace and quiet and yet a short walk only from a couple of nice pubs. Grace’s retreat is light and airy but incredibly warm. The welcome crate is the best we have known. The owners are delightful. I don’t think this could have been bettered. So pleased we found it. Thankyou.
