Popular since Victorian times, the vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks, and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. Weydale Avenue is situated within walking distance to North Bay beach which is favoured by locals not only because it is a Blue Flag beach, meaning it is one of the best in Europe for cleanliness both on sand and in water, but also because it is quiet and away from the road. For the more adventurous you can hire surf boards, as North Bay beach is a hot spot for surfers. The promenade runs from North Bay Sea Life centre to South Bay, a stunning 20-minute walk or a short 5-minute drive, with sea views. South Bay is another family friendly beach with cafes, ice-cream parlours, donkey rides, amusement arcades and busy harbour. The Esplanade is also within a short distance.
