  • "This was our second visit to Station View and although some of the furnishings are looking a little tired, once again enjoyed our stay."

Just a couple of points to note. The TV currently is internet based and we were plagued with it buffering despite the owners kind help in trying to resolve it. Also we feel the signage for the car parking area could be improved to avoid confusion.

  • "Cannot fault the apartment re cleanliness, facilities or comfort at all."

The only downside was that the tv had to run off internet (due to a fault at the mast which we understand is out of owners control) however the tv buffered quite a lot and really disrupted any programmes. We believe an upgrade to the internet would solve this until the mast is repaired. We also struggled finding the correct parking space so had to use the one for the other apartment as that was fortunately unoccupied during our stay. Otherwise excellent.

  • "Extremely warm and comfortable apartment, very well situated right in the middle of town with the extra bonus of a secure parking space."

Good bus routes almost from the doorstep and a good choice of pubs/ restaurants in town. The only one negative was just one cooking tray for the oven. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly visit again

  • "Parking is very tight when the other spaces are occupied."

We took a Ford Fiesta and managed to fit / turn it in the allocated space OK. Had we taken a larger car we would have struggled. Location in Pickering is excellent for the NYM Railway. (you can see the buffer stops from the windows) We go to the Moors fairly regularly. This accommodation will be the first one on our list to look at for availability next time.

  • "Apartment as described, very comfortable, spacious."

and clean and well equiped. However, can be very noisy due to traffic which comes to life around 5.30am, as apartment is situated in a busy street. There is a pub directly next door and this too can be extremely noisy in the evenings. Having said that it does quieten down around 10.30pm. The sitting room window looks straight onto the main street, interesting watching people and life! Please note that there are 2 sets of internal stairs to climb to get to the door of apartment. Although there is a parking space, it can be awkward to get in, as it is a small area for 6 cars.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, we most of all enjoyed the lovely view of the High Street from the window people watching and also from the other window catching a glimpse of the steam engines as they changed track."

The weather was wet and cold for much of the time but the apartment was always cosy and warm. We liked the location and the parking right outside. We had everything we needed and it was spotlessly clean. There are 2 flights of stairs (not steep) which were fine for us. Also in all self catering now it is worth noting that you will need to take with you salt and vinegar, tea and coffee, tea towels and dishcloths etc. We are looking forward to going back next year.

  • "We only was expecting 1step of stairs 2 was a bit too much for older people with a few issues."

It was going up with our luggage the main problem . No laminated information we usually get in a Sykes accommodation to let us know where things are and how they work . We did have issues and was difficult to get hold of anybody to sort out . The shop sadly due to the virus was only open a few hours and no one ever answered the out of hours phone . We did eventually solve things ourselves. The View from window is very nice makes a change for us to see the human life as we are used to seeing cows and sheep . We didn’t think the property was as well as equipped as other properties we have been in . Sorry I had to give a low mark for cleaning but when the sun shone on kitchen units they where really marked up with finger marks and the bottle opener felt really dirty . I may sound a bit picky but for years I was a caretaker cleaner and housemaid and my partner ran a 9 bedroom BxB so know what we are saying would loved to have cleaned them but if I had you wouldn’t have believed me . Will say this didn’t spoil our holiday as we are the age of make do and mend and we are only here for a week so make the most of it . Sorry I’ve been to many Sykes holidays over the years and this is the first time I’ve had to say things like this . If it wasn’t for the stairs we would probably go back to Station View again .

  • "The shower didn’t drain quickly enough & overflowed which made it unusable."

The only way to wash my hair was by turning it on & off while using shampoo & conditioner. The light in the hallway & one of the kitchen lights didn’t work. The apartment was very clean and put us at ease as it was the first time away since coronavirus. Ideally placed to explore old & new places.

  • "We were generally very happy with the quality of the accommodation."

However, the shower needed some maintenance as it did not drain water effectively. And when my husband went to iron his shirt, the iron only had a 3amp fuse in it, which meant it didn't work. These are only minor issues, and overall we found it a comfortable and smart place to stay with lovely views down the high street.

  • "We were very comfortable."

..and loved the convenience of its situation! Only one wee suggestion: the expelair in the bathroom was not effective at all and we had to leave the bathroom door open! And it might help if the number of very steep stairs to reach the flat was in the description ...as there were more than one would normally espect.. Thank You, Bruce and Gina

We have holidayed a few times with you and also with this property (Spires View twice and now Station View) all in Pickering. The flat was comfortable and perfectly located for everything. Our only grump was their wasn't any basic things like washing up liquid, very little toilet roll and toilet soap. The kitchen sink was blocked which was partially fixed, it blocked later again and the bed collapsed which we fixed but it does need better attention and an allen key to repair it properly. Minor problems but otherwise a perfect flat. We will use it again though as we enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed there before an will definitely be staying there again. The apartment is small but extremely well equipped and clean with all amenities. The view from the lounge down market street is magnificent and like an ever changing picture. We feel at home there and intend to make Station View our base for all further visits to Pickering. We would definitely recommend Station View to any couple looking to stay in Pickering. A huge bonus is the private off road parking.

  • "We were not informed this property was joined onto a pub that had an outside drinking area below our windows."

On most nights the noise and language from there lasted way past closing time with gangs of people shouting and laughing drunken banter until the early hours. Friday night began with extra loud youngster music and did not end until 12 - 12.30am. By the time all the hanger on people had shouted their goodbyes and cars and taxis had cleared them all away it was gone 1. am and we had had enough. Had we been informed it was next to us we would not have booked such a noisy flat. The flat itself was lovely, new and clean though.

I made use of the railway to get to the starting point of a couple of walks, it is sometimes good to leave the car and get out for a day without driving. Directions to the flat were accurate, on arrival the key collection worked well and the flat was spotlessly clean. Read the visitors' book for some useful suggestions about places to visit and places to eat in town.
