Description
A stone-built traditional Dales cottage located in the centre of Reeth, with all the superb village amenities on the doorstep.
This cottage has bags of character and charm and is situated in a perfect location to enjoy a family break in glorious Swaledale, one of the outstanding areas in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Featuring a spacious sitting room with a lovely window seat, electric stove and a wonderful bright and cheery feel to the whole room, this is a great place to sit and relax after a day out on the fells.
A separate dining room, also with an electric stove, provides a delightful space to sit and enjoy a little home-cooking and is next to the well-equipped kitchen with useful utility room.
The rear door leads out to a fabulous courtyard garden area with a short ginnel access to the rear of the village.
Upstairs there are three well laid out bedrooms; a double room and a twin which are both well served by the main bathroom with a double bed served by an adjacent shower room.
The corridor connecting the bedrooms contains another window seat overlooking the courtyard and views of the surrounding countryside.
To the front of the cottage are a useful porch and a mature well-stocked garden.
A cottage of charm and distinction and ideally placed to explore the famous old town with its quaint old pubs, excellent cafés and good eating establishments.
The lovely 18th century village of Reeth is also home to some of the region's finest arts and crafts, a weekly market and an historic village green, where you can sit with a newspaper whilst enjoying the village scenery.
It is an ideal base for walking, with high fells at one end of the valley which have evocative names such as Blea Barf, Great Shunner Fell and Rogan's Seat, echoing the voices of the Vikings who settled here over 1,000 years ago.
Sparkling streams flow down the valley sides through green pastures.
The River Swale, England's fastest flowing river, threads its way through a maze of fields dotted with stone barns.
The popular town of Leyburn is just a short drive away, with its mixture of tea rooms, gift shops and convenience stores.
Well worth a visit is the market town of Richmond, just ten miles away and also within reach of this North Yorkshire cottage is Barnard Castle with its wonderful Bowes Museum, Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force, Englands highest single drop waterfall.

Another fabulous holiday at Braeside & made even better by the welcome pack.
The accommodation is very comfortable and clean, I am sure the no pet policy helps with this. All the pubs, Two Dales Bakery, Friday Fish & Chip van, plus the new Thursday Pizza van (Dough in the Dales) are worth a visit. Liz called me prior to our start date to check all was OK and to wish us a good stay & it was. We have already booked several times 2027.

Without doubt this is the best accommodation we have ever had.
The cottage comfortably accommodated our party of five and could not have been better equipped as well as being spotlessly clean. The owners had also left a more than generous welcome pack which was greatly appreciated. All on all we cannot speak highly enough of the cottage and hope to return.

Just words cannot describe how amazing our stay at Braeside was.
From the moment we walked through the gate and down the perfectly tended front garden through the door to an immaculate cottage, we knew we had found somewhere special. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need, or forgot to bring, and that really is no exaggeration, though Amazon helped out a bit. The whole cottage was spotlessly clean with no silly notices and instructions stuck to walls like some places, just folders containing useful helpful guides to the things I needed help with, oven,microwave etc. For me as a fell walker to be able to walk out of the front door before dawn and be back 6 hours later was a sheer delight. My three year old grandson loved the open people free space and quiet that appeared in the evening, with me with a brew in my hand. The village shop/post office is a very welcome and friendly lifeline if you don't fancy the 20 minute drive to Tesco. We spent a few days out locally and even had a drive, albeit quite a long one, to the Lake District Wildlife Park north of Keswick. What an amazing day out, even with the odd rain shower (umbrellas under the stairs) and plenty of fun for a three year old and his Grandad. Thank you for the opportunity of staying in your beautiful cottage I'm sure we'll be back again.

Our first visit to Braeside and a more comfortable, well equipped and centrally located cottage you’d be hard to find.
The cottage has literally everything! We particular appreciated the tray of goodies on our arrival and there are nice touches such the bike store and the plentiful supply of household necessities for everything from loo rolls to dishwasher and washing machine tabs. The cottage is close to the village green with ample parking and Reeth is well stocked with shops, pubs and cafes and even has an ice cream parlour two bakeries. This is a first class cottage and a lot of effort has gone into making it a home from home!

Our stay at this beautiful cottage was absolutely fabulous.
From stepping foot in the door, we immediately felt like we were home from home. So we'll stocked with everything you could possibly need, and then some. The kids loved the window seats which were an added little quirk. The yard at the back was a suntrap and really lovely to sit in after long days out adventuring. The garden was beautiful also, full of bees and butterflies. Honestly, couldn't have wished for a better place. My mum visited for the day and wanted to move in. Thank you so much for everything ❤️

Braeside is a beautiful cottage.
It is extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need. This was our second stay and it was immaculate again. The owners had decorated it beautifully for the festive season. We had a lovely cosy stay and would definitely book again.

We've stayed in Reeth for many years, but this was our first holiday in Braeside Cottage and we'd certainly stay again.
It's a beautiful cottage - cosy, clean, great facilities and a very generous Welcome Pack. We did long walks nearly every day directly from the front door and even Storm Amy on Friday couldn't spoil the holiday as we sat in the window seats, keeping warm and cosy and watching the wild weather outside.

An excellent location on Reeth village green with numerous walks and amenities from the door. The property was beautiful with plenty of areas to sit inside and out. Extremely well equipped with modern appliances. Also a large welcome pack with handwritten card and bottle of prosecco was a lovely touch. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended as one of the best cottages we have stayed in. We look forward to returning as we had such a relaxing,enjoyable break.

Totally loved our stay and would consider returning. Would suggest thicker or blackout curtains in bedrooms, but that's a minor problem and did affect our stay at all.

We had a lovely stay at Braeside , it is a lovely cottage and is immaculately clean.
It has everything you require at hand and all is in first class condition. It is set right in the heart of the village with lovely gardens but is still so quiet . We highly recommend to anyone coming to the Dales for a holiday.

Braeside is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in.
Perfect central location in Reeth yet very peaceful, quality furnishings, warm and cosy, lovely views over the green and up to the hills beyond. Everything was spotlessly clean, and not forgetting the most generous of welcome packs. It was easy to park nearby, and there are shops / pubs close by. We really enjoyed our week at Braeside and hope to return.

This has to be the best cottage we have ever rented in the Dales or UK.
It has been refurbished to the highest standard. It is really well equipped with everything you could ever need including 2 refrigerators and a utility room. There was outside furniture that would be really nice to use in the right weather. The owner called beforehand and was available during the stay. I cannot recommend it more.

Braeside cottage is one of the nicest cottages we have ever stayed in.

The property is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to all amenities.

What an amazing cottage!
We had a wonderful stay in Braeside and couldn’t fault it. You’re greeted by the beautiful front garden, with outdoor seating that enables you to watch the world go by in your sun trap. The house is roomy and cosy, with a decent sized lounge, dining room and kitchen. Everywhere was spotless and every possible detail had been considered - Everything you could possibly need was provided and I challenge anyone to think of anything the owners might have missed. To top it all there was a lovely card and welcome pack of goodies, which was such a lovely surprise. Reeth itself is a great base for Swaledale and Wensleydale, with a post office selling groceries only a few yards from the cottage, local bakeries and plenty of local pubs to choose from. A wonderful cottage and holiday and I’m sure we will return.

A beautiful cottage in a fantastic location.
We found everything that we needed in this very well-stocked and well-furnished cottage - both essentials and lovely treats were provided in the generous arrival pack. The cottage was very clean and well-kept. The owners were friendly and efficient, making contact before the holiday to ensure that we would have a comfortable and pleasant stay. We will definitely be returning to this lovely cottage.
The owners looked after the property and equipment etc was all in immaculate condition.
Really well cleaned etc. There was a small problem identified by them before we arrived but they made great effort to make contact and explain and did everything they could to fix. We were very impressed. Reeth is a great little village and property ideally located and fabulous views in all directions and wonderful local walks

Braeside is a fabulous cottage, it was our third time staying there.
The cottage is very well maintained with everything you could think of inside, very well equipped and spotless. The welcome pack was amazing! My little boy was delighted with the Easter treats that were left waiting for us. Reeth is our favourite village in the Dales and we would highly recommend staying at this cottage to anyone who is thinking of staying in Reeth. We had an amazing stay at Braeside for New Year.
The cottage was comfortable, cosy and extremely well-equipped. John and Liz left us a little welcome basket with tea, coffee, chocolates, wine etc. which was a lovely surprise! The cottage is in an amazing location just off the village green which meant we could watch the NY fireworks from the front garden. John and Liz were very quick to get back to me both before and during the stay.

My daughter and her three year old twins. The house is situated on the green in Reeth ideal to access the amazing scenery and country side around. Plus perfect to see the bonfire and fireworks on the 5th. The house is well appointed. The owners very helpful.

Having stayed in the Black Bull when walking the Coast to Coast a couple of years ago we were really keen to return to Reeth and explore the area further.
Braeside provided the perfect base to do this from situated on the edge of the green across from the Black Bull. Our only difficulty was locating the isolating switch for the oven as it is at the top and back of the adjacent cupboard so not visible unless you bend right over. I would suggest a note as to how to locate it with the instruction manual
Had a great time.
Slightly disappointed that one of the toilets wasn’t downstairs and that several of us cracked our head on the door lintel coming out of the utility room. Food storage was great with two fridges and a freezer and the variety of crockery, cutlery, glasses and pans was excellent. Even the kitchen knives were sharp. The beds were very comfortable and the shower room and bathroom covered all our needs. We would recommend Braeside to possible holiday visitors.
Nice secure shed for bikes and the convenience to the village centre was great.
We really couldn’t think of anything to improve.
I have visited there four times and always been very pleased indeed.

Lots of thoughtful additions and recent upgrades added to the visit, including additional cleaning products, a new, well equipped kitchen and outdoor furniture. The cottage was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location was great, positioned overlooking the green with shops and pubs on the doorstep. A great base in which to explore the beautiful Dales and to relax in after a busy day walking. Highly recommend a stay here.

Taking my children when they were young. So to take my daughter and her two year old twins was very special. The owners of Braeside could not have been more helpful. The cottage is beautifully decorated and extremely well appointed. Stunning views across the green and Fremington edge. We will definitely be returning.

Braeside is a lovely cottage nestled on the edge of the village green in Reeth.
It is spotlessly clean and the furnishings are maintained to a very high standard. There is plenty to see and do in the area or you can just spend a relaxing day in the beautiful front garden watching the world go by.

It was our third stay there.
Clean crisp bedding, plenty of liquid soap and toilet rolls etc ( some places leave the bare essentials ). The place looks out on to the green. Nice court yard at the back. Lovely in summer and cosy in winter.

The cottage was absolutely lovely (5 ticks score easily)! Reeth is a small village with some shops and 3 pubs. Great location for exploring the area (ayesgarth falls, hawes cheese factory, leyburn etc). Would really recommend Braeside cottage as your base. Loved it and will book there again.

The cottage is so well situated in Reeth with a beautiful garden at the front and more outdoor seating at the back.
Everything has been thought of and provided and all to a very high quality.

and Mrs Austin are to be congratulated on the excellence of Braeside. Having stayed in many cottages this has to be given top marks. It was equipped with everything that one would have in one's own home. We all spent a very comfortable and happy week there and would certainly go there again. Everything from the ease of booking it through Sykes was first class, including a week of unbroken sunshine!
