  • "Apart from the used towels from the previous occupant, this was a great place to stay, clean and well equipped."

Hot tub was a luxury - and we made the most of it! Good location, easy access to Whitby and surrounding activities. Would happy return if we were looking for something in this area

  • "We returned to Paddock Lodges again this year after staying in Rose Lodge in August last year - we said we'd be back !"

!! Last year I got the impression that the lodges were brand new and fixtures and fittings matched accordingly. It is expected that there be some signs of ware and tear and general usage, but I felt that a few simple house keeping and maintenance practices could be utlilised to keep the lodge in top notch condition and match expectations. For example in Buttercup Lodge the fan in the ensuite shower room did not work and added to the fact that one of the window catches was broken so the window could not be opened to allow steam to escape this ended up in a foisty room, faded and stained shower mats, one of the dining room spot lights needed replacing, the clock needed a new battery, kitchen bin broken and some of the light bulbs in the hot tub needed to be replaced - none of these things are major but add up to a little feel of neglect. Also, the the pots and pans had literally been thrown into the cupboard I assume by the previous occupier, just a quick check from cleaning staff to make sure the cupboard was in order would be sufficient. These are small points which were just a little disappointing, overall the lodge was immaculately clean, beds clean and comfortable, garden furniture and hot tub excellent. The site is well kept and tidy. Overall a resounding recommendation, but paying attention to those little details will ensure such high standards

Thank you for your detailed feedback and for returning to Paddock Lodges. We’re pleased to hear that you found the lodge clean and well-kept overall. We appreciate you pointing out the areas that need attention, such as the fan, window catch, and maintenance of the shower mats and kitchen bin. We’ll address these issues with our team to ensure better upkeep. Your input on the kitchen cupboard organisation is also noted. We’re glad you enjoyed the garden furniture and hot tub, and we look forward to welcoming you back again. Paddock lodges team Property Owner

  • "Buttercup Lodge was delightful, Very peaceful setting, very clean and comfortable, lovely beds and pillows."

Our little grandson loved the hot tub of course, and the lodge was handy to visit the beach, Whitby (on the bus), Scarborough and Flamingo Park. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you for your detailed feedback! We're delighted to hear you enjoyed the lodge and had a peaceful stay. We apologise for the inconvenience with the washing-up liquid, bin bags, and hob light bulb; we'll address these issues promptly. Regarding recycling, we use a private waste company that sorts all waste on-site, providing a more efficient service. We're glad your grandson had a great time, especially with the hot tub, and we're happy to have returned your item. We look forward to welcoming you back soon! Paddock lodges team Property Owner

  • "The property was lovely and clean and very spacious for 4 adults and a dog."

The surrounds of the property were clean and tidy. There was everything we needed to cook with which was very handy. We really enjoyed the our stay at the property and exploring the surrounding area so will definitely book again in the future. We could have done with some more black bin liners as we filled ours pretty quickly. Just a note for the hot tub, it was very dark on a night so a small light would be good. Lovely property, thank you for having us☺️

We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Your feedback means a lot and we appreciate you taking the time.. We hope to welcome you again soon. Paddock lodges team Property Owner

  • "A great lodge in a superb location at the top of Runswick Bay."

There's a short but steep walk to the beach and the village is beautiful. The lodge itself was clean and we'll equipped. Situated in a very quiet, small site right next to the Cleveland Way path so good for dogwalkers. I haven't stayed anywhere with a hot tub before and was surprised that you can't turn them off, although we managed to turn it down. They're louder than I expected and switch on and off intermittently through the night. Probably only an issue for light sleepers but, along with the branches of the trees lashing against the roof on a few windy nights, we didn't sleep too well. I probably wouldn't choose a lodge with a hot tub again.

Thank you for your feedback, and we appreciate your kind words about our lodge and its location. We're sorry to hear that the hot tub and the noise from branches kept you from having a restful sleep during your stay. We want all our guests to have a comfortable experience, and we haven't received previous complaints about the hot tubs. Had you mentioned the issue with the branches during your stay, we would have promptly taken care of it by trimming them back. We hope you'll consider staying with us again in the future. About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
