  • "Just arrived home from last minute family get away staying in the Mayflower lodge."

We literally booked the day we arrived and the whole process was great with no issues at all. We are a family of four and a dog, lodge was great for our needs, the only minor points I would note, two teenagers so small twin room but I guess that's typical of such lodges so didn't detract from my rating or enjoyment either, I also found the double bed springy but I think this must have been me as can't see this mentioned previously i marked comfort down only slightly, also the hot tub was great and lovely and hot on our arrival but it was small and there is no way all four of us would get in and be comfortable on a colder evening but we still enjoyed it and took it I turns, lol! Unlike previous comment no issues with the sliding shower screen, was able to take a shower no problem and it was a good hot and powerful shower. I would definitely recommend, location was great, enjoyed the lodge, wrap around decking, private hot tub area and importantly for us a gate so secure for the dog. Short walk to the lovely local bay and local pub on site, we had a meal one evening in the pub and spent a few hours in Whitby which was a short drive away one day. Lots of places to walk dog too around the lodge. Thank you for our stay!

  • "Beautiful log cabin nice and clean, comfortable and warm."

The cabin has everything you require to enjoy your time there. Only one suggestion going forward you may wish to consider providing Salt and Pepper pots as we did not bring any with us for meals. Great location and plenty to do around the area.

  • "On arrival everything was amazing spotlessly clean and inviting."

There was just one thing that we were upset about was the shower it could have by fold shower doors rather than a sliding door as could not use the shower as we couldn’t get in and had to have strip washers very disappointed. Maybe this is something you could consider. Apart from that everything was wonderful and we had a lovely relaxing week.

Thank you for your feedback, and we're glad to hear that you found everything else wonderful during your stay. We're sorry to hear about the issue you experienced with the shower screen, we have checked this and we are not sure what the actual problem is? It's in full working order with no other complaints? We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another relaxing week in the future. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful clean spacious lodges."

Slight issue with the WiFi was immediately rectified. Regular maintenance staff around and were all friendly and helpful. Peaceful, clean location yet conveniently located near to the Runswick Bay hotel, which served simple, good quality delicious food. The wok chicken is very popular and the homemade chips are amazing! Be aware of the steep walk down to the bay, although there is limited parking if you get there early! The Lodge was perfect and dog friendly! The decked area with hot tub and seating meant you could easily spend a day relaxing at the Lodge. Would not hesitate to recommend!

  • "Only minor gripe was the twin room beds were very small and therefore sleeping for 4 adults was a bit of a challenge."

Would be perfect for a family with young children though which to be fair is probably what it is aimed at more than 4 adults

Thank you for the feedback. Our accommodations are family-friendly, aimed at families with children or indeed couples. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Paddock lodges team Property Owner

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
