"We enjoyed our autumnal few days by the sea."
The location was right for us with excellent bus service. Pub was closed during the week. Shame. The Ellerby was a suitable alternative. The cottage was cosy, lovely log burner, but we couldn't find the key to the shed for more logs. For heath and safety, an anti-slip bath mat for the shower upstairs is required and I agree, another stair handrail would be good; the stairs are a little steep. I also agree that the front door lock was awkward. On arrival we nearly rang the helpline until we realised the top key turned anti clockwise which I hadn't expected. The door handle then needed a shake and a little push. After a long journey it was disconcerting. Double glazed windows would not only help prevent the condensation but also help reduce energy costs.

"All in all we found sunny Side in Runswick Bay quite comfortably the kitchen was very well equipped with an electric cooker /Fridge freezer /Dishwasher etc, The down stairs shower & toilet were well maintained has was the one upstairs, The beds were clean and very comfortable with plenty of storage space for cloths, In the lounge area there were a wall mounted T."
V with very modern electric type wall mounted heaters the furniture was comfortable our only slight criticism was the stairs could have done with another hand rail? We found when cooking etc the down stairs windows which weren't double glazed & caused the windows to be affected with heavy condensation maybe a dehumidifier would probably sort this out? We did enjoy our stay would I book this terraced house again yes I would.

"Very comfortable quiet cottage with everything we needed."
Super part of Yorkshire with walks from the door or good road network for travel to wider area. Also benefits from 1/2 hourly bus services to main tourist areas. Very welcoming hotel with delicious menu just 1 minutes walk from the door. We would not hesitate to return.

"I had a lovely stay at Sunny Side."
The location was perfect for a walk to the beach, and the bus stop is a moments walk away.
The garden and patio were lovely. The plum loaf and Yorkshire tea were welcome after a long drive.

"We enjoyed our stay at Sunny Side as it is in an ideal spot!"
The property is quite adequately stocked and was very clean. The downstairs shower was fine but I feel that the property would definitely benefit from having a shower fitted over the bath upstairs and perhaps fit a mirror in the back bedroom.

"Property very comfortable and it had everything we wanted and needed."
Admire them for the colour of carpet as it seems difficult to keep pristine but by no means dirty. We would book again if we were going to be in the area

"Sunny Side is a little gem."
Fantastic location to enjoy the very pretty village of Runswick Bay with the benefit of off street parking. The cottage is clean and tidy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Very comfortable beds. The property maximises the space it has. As there were just 2 of us staying in the house there was more than enough space but for 4 adults it may feel a little cosy. In the lounge there is an armchair and a 3 seater sofa but perhaps a 2 seater sofa instead of the armchair or an additional armchair would allow for more relaxed living space. The main bedroom is spacious but the back bedroom is small with a small double bed - ideal for one person but you may need to store some items in the main bedroom if there are 2 of you staying in there. There are 2 toilets in the property and a downstairs shower room and I think from previous feedback the owner has said they are intending to put a shower in upstairs which will be great. Overall we loved Sunny Side

"On arrival at Sunnyside we were surprised at the amount of weeds growing in both the border and the gravel on the front."
We had a problem opening the front door, it was extremely tricky, and initially thought we would have to call the help number. Eventually we managed to get inside.
Property clean and in a great position to get the bus . Runswick Bay hotel good food and drinks!
Sheet on bed didn’t fit and needed adjusting during the night!
Dear Margaret,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your stay at Sunnyside. We genuinely appreciate all comments as they help us improve the experience we offer our guests.
We're sorry to hear about the issues you encountered on arrival, particularly with the weeds in the front garden and the difficulty opening the front door. We'll be addressing both of these concerns immediately with our maintenance team to ensure they’re resolved for future guests.
We're also sorry to hear that the bed sheet didn’t stay in place during the night. We do use fitted sheets on all our beds, so this shouldn't have been an issue - we’ll investigate this with housekeeping to make sure everything is being prepared correctly.
Although you mentioned the property was clean, we noticed that the cleanliness rating was still marked down. We strive for 100% in this area, so we’d really appreciate any further insight into what we could have done better to fully meet your expectations.
Any further comments on the accuracy of the listing, comfort, and facilities would also be greatly appreciated as we want to improve in these areas too.
On a positive note, we’re glad you enjoyed the food at the Runswick Bay Hotel - it's a lovely pub with a great atmosphere!
We hope you’ll consider staying with us again, and thank you once more for your valuable feedback. Tom

"There were a few items missing in the kitchen , ( I was so looking forward to making a pot of coffee- but no cafetière) - which would make a good cottage a great cottage ."
These have been highlighted to the owner & they can quickly be rectified . The decor in the bathroom / shower has been mentioned previously: they are however , both great facilities & do what is needed .
The house is in a brilliant location for exploring the North Yorkshire coast & moors .
Thank you so much for your helpful feedback. I'm pleased to let you know that we have now made some small improvements by adding various items to the kitchen - including a cafetière. We have also updated the welcome pack to include some local produce which will hopefully enhance guests first impressions and experience.
We are really pleased that you enjoyed the location - we do believe it to be a very special place with so much to offer.
Many thanks,
Tom

"Most of the accommodation has been refurbished to a very high standard."
Cutlery, plates, kettle and toaster were new but some of the white goods and the downstairs shower had not been updated but were acceptable. The location was excellent. Runswick Bay is stunning; a beautiful beach and a chance to go fossil hunting at low tide. The Runswick Bay Hotel is close by and provides excellent food. There is a half hourly bus service almost outside the door, and we could easily get to Whitby in One Direction and Saltburn in the other thus, avoiding the parking problems there might be in nearby busy resorts. The bus was free for us as we are pensioners.
Hi Sidney.
Many thanks for your feedback. As a new property on the holiday let market, we really appreciate it. If there are any further points you could make on anything that didn’t quite work/ways to improve then that would be great to know!
In terms of cleanliness, can I ask what let it down slightly? We use a professional cleaning company so it would be useful to feedback to them where they could improve.
The cooker has now been replaced and we have plans to replace the upstairs bathroom. We appreciate that a downstairs shower isn’t ideal so we’re adding a second one upstairs.
Many thanks,
Tom

"We loved our stay in the cottage and area."
Lovely touches to the decor with good garden space, great for rabbit watching. Downstairs shower a bit of a squeeze but did the job and very clean. We were told whilst travelling that the cooker had broke down and so Tom provided a 2 ring electric plug in hob and made an extra journey to drop off an air fryer too which was all appreciated. We did spend more on eating out but it didn't impact our stay, so thanks. Good buses locally and the coastal walk to Staithes is a must to eat in the Cod and Lobster

"We had a lovely stay in sunny side!"
Location was brilliant at the top of the hill, with pubs nearby and short (steep!) walk down to the beach. Cottage was really clean, facilities were great and would definitely stay again. Runswick bay is lovely!! Had a be very minor issue (we are fussy!) that the hosts responded to immediately, so can’t ask for more than that.
