It was the same this time. We will be booking again. We have recommended it to friends.

Thank you so much for your kind review. We look forward to seeing you again soon Hope you had a good journey back and are feeling better. Property Owner

  • "Very tranquil place."

..good abundance of wildlife on your doorstep...could really do with a new mattress as quite uncomfortable...also it states there is a pub 10 mins walk away via the woods ....my wife and myself who are keen walkers found a few paths which in certain areas were impassable due to the steepness or branches in the way...could really do with taking this off your website ...overall a pleasant stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you had a lovely stay. All the fixtures and furnishings in the properties are in perfect working order and excellent quality. The pub is a 10 minute walk away via a pedestrian route- not via the woods as you tried. We hope to welcome you back in the future Property Owner

  • "Mixed opinion of stay."

You must consider we are in our 70’s hence younger people’s opinion will vary however is still as important as ours. Both the bed and furniture not to our liking, the bed too small and uncomfortable, the furniture, one small chair which caused backache, the two seater couch too small but recline feature a plus and not uncomfortable. Much prefer a bath, however, the shower was the best I have EVER used. The biggest bonus for us was the total peace and tranquility, invaluable when the point of the holiday was to have a weeks rest. If my negative points were remedied we would,100% be staying here 2/3 times a year. Location, perfect. KW

. There was everything and more than you could want. Clean, comfortable and very well situated in lovely grounds. Some of the comments I read said ten minutes walk to shop and pubs. It took us about two to three minutes in the car but I’m afraid it would be much longer by foot. Aside from that the holiday and cabin were absolutely great. Would definitely book your cabins again if we decided on this type of holiday again. Thank you

) As others have mentioned I think an enclosed traditional shower rather than an a 'wet room' would be better (but not a problem overall) Very quiet, great bed and overall a wonderful location with so much space. Many thanks

A welcome bottle of local wine and some dog chews were a nice touch. The grounds were beautiful and very dog friendly. My hoover did not work and there was no cafetière but everything else was lovely. The setting is idyllic. Once there is a good safe footpath to Saltburn-by-the-Sea it will be even better.

  • "This cottage is in a most beautiful setting and it was well equipped apart from a fan."

There were only a few of these cottages surrounding a green and we liked that although it was a log cabin the wood inside was painted and looked fresh. It was essential that we could bring our dog with us as she is now totally blind and we were impressed that there were walks varying in length surrounding us. Disappointment that the bar in the hotel was only open for functions. A quiet relaxing break, we would book again.

  • "We expected high quality accommodation and that's what we got."

Our holiday was lovely. However, one way to improve the facilities would be to provide recycling bins as we chose to take home our glass, plastic and cardboard waste rather than deposit all rubbish in one bin for landfill. I think everyone expects this nowadays and it would be the responsible thing to do. Surely Rushpool Hall recycles within the hotel itself!?

It was tranquil and quite. Lovely woods to walk through or just sit and watch the wonderful wild life. Impressive. We took our small dog and were never at a loss for a new walk to take him on. The area sounding Rushpool Hall has some really special villages, both inland, where the dales are stunning, and along the coast. We are planning a second visit because there is so much more to see. Thank you Sykes for a really special holiday.

However this path is down a muddy bank and there is a stream at the bottom to get across. Ok if hiking but not suitable for walking to saltburn for a meal out for example. We would not have booked this location had it not suggested a 10 minute walk.

The town was too far to walk (1.5 miles) on unlit narrow winding roads so we just stayed in with bottle of wine watching TV. The grounds around the hotel were excellent but a disappointing holiday. Nothing against Sykes as a company.

  • "The cabin is set in a beautiful, peaceful location, with peacocks, squirrels, rabbits running around."

Saltburn is about 5 minutes away by car, and there are other attractive villages nearby, such as Staithes, Runswick Bay,RobinHoods Bay, Whitby, etc. The only disappointment was that we couldn't easily walk into Saltburn as there was no access across the river down the valley unless you walked up to and along the road to join a public footpath that took a long way round to get into the village. I would not recommend walking along the road as there are no pavements. The staff are helpful and friendly. The cabin is well equipped, with its own utility room. The bed is reasonably comfortable. The sofa and chairs are wicker conservatory style so not all that comfortable after sitting a while, but adequate for the time spent inside. All in all, it was a lovely week's holiday in very nice surroundings.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Violet Lodge and would book again in the future."

The lodge is very comfortable and the wet room is fantastic. A separate dining room was an unexpected plus for us too. The linen and towels were clean and the rooms were clean. There are plenty of crockery and utensils, the oven, hob and microwave all in good condition and clean. A good 32 inch TV with freeview channels is available. The internet worked fine most of the time with just the occasional hiccup and there are onsite booster Ariel's opposite the lodge. The settee and chairs could have been more comfortable. It was very peaceful and although there are another 9 lodges, only a couple were occupied at the time of our stay and you do not look directly onto another lodge at the front, the rear view overlooks the grounds of the hall and ancient woodland Making this a very relaxing quiet stay. The local wildlife is everywhere and the grounds are very well maintained and the Hall itself is a stately country estate owners house dating from the 1860s. The Hall however is available for wedding's and special venues only and not open to visitors. So the bar and facilities are no longer for use by customers of the Lodges. So be aware of this if you have read older reviews on trip adviser, as it used to be available for meals and drinks, a few years ago. The walk from the lodge through the ancient woodland directly to Saltburn is too difficult in parts as it entails crossing Skelton Beck and negotiating muddy pathways through woodland. Also the road leading to Saltburn has no pathways either side making this a dangerous walk. So I would recommend using the car to go to Saltburn, only a 5 minute drive but you will have to pay for parking. This was a shame really as we were led to believe from the information on the Sykes website that the walk was easily achievable and the town was easily accessible by foot. However you would have to be very fit and have the appropriate footwear in order to negotiate the beck in order to access Saltburn via the Valley Gardens side. All in all a lovely place to stay and I will be recommending it to our friends.
