  • "I’d happily stay here again."

    The cottage is in a lovely, peaceful location, tucked away from a main road so effectively that you’d never know it was there. It feels secluded and quiet, yet is ideally positioned for exploring the area, with easy access to Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay and several nearby beaches. Arriving and leaving was always straightforward, with none of the traffic issues you can sometimes encounter in the busier coastal towns. The cottage itself is very well presented. It’s modern, tastefully decorated, and makes excellent use of the available space. Everything was clean, comfortable and worked exactly as expected. The shower deserves a special mention as it was excellent. We also really enjoyed having the balcony, although due to its position and the surrounding trees it only received direct sunlight later in the day. The bedrooms were comfortable and surprisingly spacious, particularly the twin room, which felt much larger than expected. My only minor criticism would be the internet connectivity. The WiFi occasionally dropped out during our stay, and with mobile signal being patchy on both Vodafone and EE, there were times when we were left without a reliable connection. It wasn’t a major issue for us, but it’s worth noting if dependable internet access is important to you. Overall, a fantastic cottage in a great location and an excellent base for exploring the Yorkshire coast.

  • "Cottage is big enough for 2 , warm and everything works ."

    could have done with a hoover down stairs and shame the decking wasn’t cleaned and prepped for us to use with the nice weather.

  • "I am writing to make you aware of the condition of Riverside Cottage upon our arrival, which was extremely disappointing and far below the standard we expected."

    The property was not clean. We found that dishes and cooking equipment needed washing before use, the floors appeared not to have been vacuumed, and there were hairs in the bath and a dirty toilet. There were also crumbs left on the worktops and the fridge was unclean. As a result, I had to send my husband out to purchase cleaning supplies so that I could clean the property myself before my two young boys could safely play on the floor with their toys. The outside patio area was also in poor condition, with cigarette ends left in a dish on the table.

  • "A great place to stay for a bit of walking on the Yorkshire Coast."

    3 days of walking coast path sections with no need to drive. Walk from the door with great bus services. Lovely, comfortable and cosy, with a Tesco express nearby. Would definitely stay again!

  • "The Property was as described ."

    We had an issue on our arrival day (Sunday). TV was complicated to work and no instructions to help . As Sykes only has an emergency response over the weekend we had no other phone numbers of anyone local to contact . We also had Wi Fi issues early on . When I contacted Sykes on Monday morning about both issues they were responded to swiftly by Sykes and the Owners . Generally we found Riverside Cottage to be a nice place to stay .

    I am sorry to hear you had problems with the TV, I hope this did not affect your time too much. For future customers, I have checked that the information file is in the property which provides a local/out of hour mobile to call. The file also advises where the instruction manuals to all the appliances are. Property Owner

  • "The house was lovely, however, it wasn't as clean as it should be."

    There were a lot of cobwebs, surfaces weren't cleaned and had ring marks from cups. The bathroom floor had hairs on and the tiles etc were dusty and had toothpaste or soap on. They clearly hadn't been cleaned for a while.

  • "Lovely little place."

    Perfect for our family size and good outdoor area. Stairs are very steep and narrow but usable. Balcony an added extra for sitting with a drink and watching the sky morning and night.

  • "Everything was as described."

    There was everything that we needed. We were very comfortable but from our point of view the stairs were far too steep for anyone elderly and unsteady on their feet.

  • "Beautiful little property that suited us as a family of three perfectly."

    Has everything you need, well equipped kitchen and comfy beds. Great location and even though it’s just off the road it was really quiet and peaceful. We loved our stay and our daughter didn’t want to go.

  • "Excelllent cottage."

    Unfortunately the accommodation had not been serviced when we arrived at 3.15 but there was a very good reason and Sykes/owner sorted it out within the hour to a very high standard.One area which does need sorting out is the TV system. The lounge TV needed resetting every time it was turned on and we couldn’t get the bedroom TV to work at all! The WiFi was a bit temperamental. We took great care on the stairs - which was necessary. Nothing to do with the cottage but care had to be taken crossing the main road as there wasn’t a pavement. We had a very pleasant stay and will definitely return.

  • "All I can say is it was fabulous everything about it was great pub shop near by the beach not far to walk at all just marvelous."

  • "The cottage was well furnished and very clean !"

    It was lovely where it was situated & very quiet and not far from all the main attractions . The Oak Wheel pub was 5 minutes away by car the food was excellent ! The owner Lee-Ann was lovely to talk to very helpful I rate this property 5 stars all round won’t hesitate to stay again

  • "Lovely cottage in a nice position about a mile away from north bay."

    Plenty of good places to eat nearby and a bus stop about 200 yards away. We had a slight problem with the televisions as they're run through the internet (I think) and we're not very tech savvy, but Andy came and sorted it out for us. Really enjoyed our stay in the peaceful surroundings, we'll hopefully be back soon.
