“The Lodge is probably the best big house that we have stayed at.”

The rooms were all spacious, with plenty of comfortable seating downstairs (no sagging sofas!), and large, good-quality beds. The kitchen was very generously supplied with crockery and cutlery so there were no problems with running out of plates etc. There were also adequate pots & pans to cope with cooking for a crowd. If you don't want to cook, we can recommend the Fish & Chip shop in the village, and also the Cedarbarn Farm Shop & Café, near Pickering, for an excellent Sunday lunch. ...

We did have a boiler failure during our stay but the owner quickly arranged for a plumber. There were a number of minor issues in the house that need attention, but overall it was well-kept, and various members of our party enjoyed the large garden and the hot-tub. Whilst you can just get five cars on the back yard, it is a squash for family-sized vehicles, and getting out again requires some manoeuvering!
