  • "We had a wonderful stay at Mayfield Sands."

It was comfortable, spotless, spacious and handy for our needs and we hope to return at some stage.

  • "The only reason there is a loss of points for listing is the parking."

For a very large, very comfortable house which is well equipped for all ages, the parking only allows for one car on the premises and one across the drive. If there are more than 2 cars it is pot luck if there is a space on the road. Not such a problem at the time we stayed but I imagine the summer months could be difficult. However we had a very good holiday as the situation of the house with the beach at the end of the road was fantastic for younger children and adults alike.

  • "We had a fabulous weekend at mayfield sands."

The house is beautifully decorated & very clean & situated a couple of minutes from the beach & spa. Only negatives for us was there’s only one small tv in the house & the bedroom window in the double bedroom on the 2nd floor has a gap down it making the room very cold. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "We stayed at the property for our Christmas stay, its so spacious which was great!"

They even put 2 Christmas trees up to make it more festive that was a lovely touch, we all really loved the property, the only thing negative would be the tiny tiny telly in one of the living rooms ( there is two) and none in the other, and because it's winter, cold and raining we wanted to watch Christmas movies etc. So we had to take ours with us which wasn't great, as we read the reviews so thought we would we take ours which was a good idea, But honestly the house was great, so many bedrooms to pick from! The best showers are on the top floor.

  • "Another fantastic annual get together with old friends."

The house has everything we need and suits everyone's needs. We love having the beach at the end of the road and in walking distance of the town. The house was cold on our arrival and the first night but plenty of blankets are available and the house warmed up the day after. The welcome pack is a lovely touch. Already checking dates for our return. Thank you.

  • "The house suited our party of 5 adults and 5 children of ages from 2 to 97, with one party coming from Norway but it felt as though it needed some t."

L.c. and was tired. A small TV in one room is not satisfactory to a happy time when one is confined to the house. Heating instructions required in the welcome pack. Outside - Parking for two cars is a bit of a white lie - and the green bin had no lid and one of the blue bins the lid was broken (it doesn't take much to have them replaced by the local authority). Location and proximity to the south beach was very good.

A great stay exceeding our expectations. Great location. Every room was spotless and larger than expected. Well equipped and all information needed for the stay was clear. Only fault would be as others have mentioned, the property has 1 television in the property and is very small for the property but this didn't have a massive affect for our group but could be issues for others. We will definitely be returning!!

  • "Overall satisfied, but the twin bedroom on the ground floor has damp issues where it backs onto the bathroom wall where the shower is."

I suspect a water or drainage leak from the shower. This will only get worse in the cooler weather. We found it unusable, but luckily we had spare bedrooms to transfer to.

  • "We stayed at Mayfield Sands for a family get together over Christmas."

The house was decorated and very welcoming. Lots of choice of bedrooms so everyone's requirements were met. It was a really lovely place to hang out in the dining room and living rooms and we made good use of the large oven/hob to cook Christmas dinner with no issues. Great to have the beach at the end of the street to see the wild winter sea! Many thanks.

  • "This really was the perfect holiday house."

It was extremely spacious and the location was perfect. We had a great week away with friends and never did we feel on top of each other. There were two massive fridge/freezers...great for large groups that are cooking every night. There were also plenty of towels and bedding which was great. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone and we would definitely love to stay here again. We walked to the end of the road (literally 1 minute) and we were on the lovely sandy south beach. We cycle to Sewerby Hall one day and we walked to the leisure centre one day for a swim and clip n climb. We visited Playdale Farm (20 min drive) which was a great day out for all the kids (aged 2-8). Another place we would highly recommend if you like ice cream....Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Palour (15 min drive south). Thank you for a great stay.

Plenty of room. It was lovely to have a TV room and one with no TV, we played lots of games! It was a cold weekend so the house took a while to warm up, no one had been in it the week before us. It would have been even better if the heating had been put on earlier in the day to heat it through. Beds, pillows and duvets really comfy.
