I found the accommodation was exactly how I was expecting, very well equipped and clean, in a good location for exploring the coast line
We really enjoyed our stay at Dairy Cottage.
It is the ideal location for exploring the coast and North York moors. The property is lovely and had everything we needed for a lovely few nights away.
Dairy Cottage is a lovely cottage in a beautiful quiet location with a fantastic view from the entrance.
It is ideally placed for visiting the coast or the moors and within easy reach of York. There are some lovely walks directly from the cottage. The cottage is very well laid out with a large kitchen with everything you may need to accommodate your stay, a dinning area and nice living area. There is a lovely bathroom with a whirlpool bath and a good size shower. The bedroom is very spacious with a very comfortable king size bed, TV and plenty of storage. A lovely little courtyard sits to the side of the cottage ideal for morning coffee and afternoon/evening drinks. The owner has put together a helpful guide to the cottage along with all appliance manuals and very helpful information for eating out and visiting the area. We would recommend eating at the Falcon Inn the food is delicious and the staff are all lovely. There are nice beaches at Cayton Bay and Sandsend, but be mindful of the tides. This was a last minute booking which was a great find. The only regret is we wish we could have stayed longer.
A good base for couples, who like walking and peace and quiet.
Well equipped accommodation, clean, plenty of hot water and a comfy bed. Set in beautiful countryside. Excellent food at Falcon just over 1 mile away. Easy access to the main road to Scarborough, or Whitby.

This place is an absolute beautiful spot with wonderful views of open countryside and the sea in the distance.
Some lovely forest walks with lovely pubs around, especially the Falcon with a lovely garden for a summertime drink. The accommodation was perfect, everything you need is there, a lovely base for Whitby and surrounding places to visit. We would definitely recommend this lovely place for a holiday.

Dairy cottage is the prime location in between Whitby n Scarborough. The accommodation is faultless absolutely spotless..The property is immaculate. There are plenty of country pubs within a 5 mile radius. Stunning views.This is our 4th time back.Highly recommend.

The property is in a lovely area with good walks and an interesting coastline nearby.
It is clean, tidy, well equipped and cosy. The central heating seemed not to have any set pattern to when it operated until the day prior to our departure which coincided with the other 2 cottages being occupied. It was often cold but we bought a number of bags of logs for the stove which was efficient and easy to operate. Disappointingly, one of the photographs is of a sea view which is only visible from the open doorway with a strip of the sea visible in the far distance. The other views from the sides of the cottage are of outbuildings, the rear of the owners property, gravel hardstanding for parked vehicles and a close hedge on one side and on the other side of it is of the side of a large industrial building/barn in close proximity, a rusty shipping container and a gravelled seating area described as a garden. An honest and accurate description would avoid disappointment.
Thank you for your feedback, it is lovely to hear that you thought Dairy Cottage was clean, tidy, well equipped and cosy. The central heating in the cottage is available all day and night with a digital thermostat so the temperatures can be altered up or down for personal preference and each radiator also has its own control so that each room can be adjusted to suit. The thermostat switches the heating on and off to maintain the temperature chosen. We are always happy to help guests with any queries they may have and are happy to assist with the thermostat if required. Our details are clearly displayed in the guest information book in the cottage and we are also close at hand if any problems. Unfortunately on this occasion we were not contacted by the guests and were not made aware of an issue until reading this public review. There are many photos of the cottage on the listing and all of the photos of the interior and garden of the cottage were taken fairly recently by a Sykes representative to give a clear picture of the cottage and outside area including photos that clearly show the sea view though the open front door. We are not aware how the photos can be described as not accurate or honest! There is a container in the neighbouring farmers field which they use as an animal shelter for their sheep. This is behind a growing laurel hedge which will provide further screening in the future. I apologise that this disappointed you. We are very lucky that Dairy Cottage is located in such a lovely area and many previous guests have commented on how much they enjoyed the stunning open countryside and beautiful views to the sea directly from the cottage.

Beautifully converted and a very warm and comfortable place, that is well appointed and positioned to enjoy the Yorkshire coast and moors. We even experienced a very pretty snow scene at the end of the week! Highly recommend and will be back.

We had a lovely stay at Dairy Cottage.
It is evenly placed between Scarborough and Whitby which was perfect for us as we followed walks along the coast on the Cleveland Way. You would definitely need a car if your mobility is limited. The Cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you need to take the effort out of cooking and washing up. The bathroom has a fabulous whirlpool bath and separate shower. The bedroom is tastefully decorated and the bed is extremely comfortable. The welcome pack was a lovely touch which we hadn't expected. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at Dairy Cottage.

We thought the accommodation was well equipped and comfortable.
There was a welcome pack which is always appreciated. There was a booklet which gave instructions on how to use cooker, tv etc and also had some advice on where to visit and eat and drink. One of the draws beneath the cooker also had a number of leaflets that we found helpful. The shower had plenty of hot water and was powerful. The one disappointment I had was the size of the bathroom towels, I'm not the largest of chaps but the towel wouldn't go round me so I ended up buying a bath sheet from one of the supermarkets. We both enjoyed the fact that the cottage was well away from the larger towns and took advantage of being able to walk around beautiful countryside without having to dodge cars every minute. We had a great time at the cottage, the weather helped of course, but next time we are up this part of the world we would book Dairy cottage again.

Recommend installing clear glass in the front door so you can admire the panoramic view out to sea without having to open the front door.

Dairy Cottage is a real gem of a place.
It has lovely views from the front door, in a quiet location and perfect for exploring the east coast and the North York Moors. We arrived to find complimentary tea, biscuits and cake. What a lovely surprise! There is a pub only a mile away which provides delicious food. The cottage has everything you need for a home from home feel. The bed is really comfortable and there is an added extra with a spa bath. Would highly recommend and we will certainly stay again if we ever go to the east coast again. Cara the owner is very accommodating and lovely to speak to.

This was a beautiful cottage.
Clean with up to date facilities in a truly gorgeous rural area. It was a perfect retreat for us and the peace and rest we so needed. Easy to get to Whitby ( park and ride is perfect) and Scarborough. Very helpful owners when we got lost!

Well presented cottage with only minor problems.
The aged leather settee lacked comfort and the key safe was so old we had difficulty using it. The view from the front door of the cottage is magnificent.

Many previous guests have commented how comfortable they find everything in the cottage so I’m sorry that the sofa did not suit your own personal preference. The keysafe is not old and is straightforward to use with a button next to the number dial to open it. I responded immediately when you contacted me upon your arrival and opened the keysafe personally for you so you could access the cottage straight away. I strive to provide a lovely experience for guests, always trying my best to help and providing lots of additional touches in the cottage to help provide an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

It's a very cosy and well equipped cottage. The only improvement we could suggest is to have bath sheets instead of bath towels which just don't offer enough cover!

Kitchen has high quality utensils provided. Ideal location for walking/tourist towns etc. Loved it so much we will recommend and hope to return one day!

The wall mounted "flush buttons" for the toilet required a lot of strength to operate .

We are sorry that you had an issue with the toilet flush, if we had been contacted during your stay, then this could have been looked at straight away for you. The toilet is flushed during every changeover and was tested after your stay and we could not find any fault with it but we will keep checking it and get it looked at if an issue is found.

Dairy Cottage is a quiet and very comfortable base for exploring this part of Yorkshire.
The owners have created a perfect retreat for couples. Great walks from the door down to Robin Hood's Bay and to Hayburn Wyke with Whitby and Scarborough just a short drive away. Only wish we could have stayed longer! Highly recommended.

One of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in, well designed, well equipped and well maintained.
We have tried hard to come up with any suggestions for improvement but the only thing we can think of is that a small shaving mirror in the bathroom would be useful

We were a little miffed by the welcome pack, we never saw or heard from the property owner whilst at the cottage, just a hello and introduction would have been nice.
The bath spa would have been lovely however when we switched it on a load of black debris shot out which actually put us off of using it and it left black bits all in the bath which we left for the owner to see...... The cottage was very comfortable and we had a lovely stay despite the above comments...

I would also like to assure you that during every changeover the whirlpool bath is cleaned then filled with specialist whirlpool bath cleaner and run on the whirlpool setting for the recommended time before being rinsed and cleaned again. I am sorry that you did not contact me during your stay as I would have been happy to repeat the whirlpool bath pipe cleaning process until it was fixed if I had been aware of the issue you were having. My phone number is clearly shown on the front page of the visitor information book within the cottage and I am easily contactable and on hand, always doing my best to help in any way with any queries as has been commented upon previously by guests. A very cosy, very well-equipped cottage in a quiet location ideal for visiting the area, both by car and by foot.
Also ideal for stargazing as very dark at night. I cannot fault the cottage in any way and the welcome pack was delicious. Thank you for such lovely accommodation.

The cottage was warm with a nice bathroom that included a bath as well as a shower. A very large bedroom. We will have to go back in warmer weather so we can sit in the lovely courtyard. Although you can see the sea from the front door that's on the side of the cottage, the window on that side it to high to be able to see the sea which was a shame, but obviously there must be a reason for that. The stars at night were amazing. Complete piece and quiet. Very convenient to get to all different places. We would certainly go back. Owner was very helpful and left us some tea and biscuits which was a nice touch.
Everything about our stay was perfect , the cottage was immaculate, very warm and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay.
The surrounding area is beautiful we even had sunshine in January , just wished we could have stayed longer .

It is a warm, cosy cottage with a fantastic wood burning stove. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with many of the 'essentials' already provided by the owners. Lovely little cottage midway between Scarborough and Whitby with lots of walks nearby and plenty of places to visit.
Garden was a little sun trap in the afternoon even though the sun is now getting low so I should imagine it's lovely in summer. Overall a fabulous little place which we wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

We have stayed at a lot of cottages and this was one of the best. We were very comfortable, the Cottage had everything we needed and it was very quiet. We love the East Coast and it was within easy access of Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay etc. Highly recommended. It was our first break in ages due to COVID and we went home feeling very refreshed. Many thanks.

Dairy Cottage is a wonderful luxury cottage, superbly fitted out and located on a quiet farm.
Wonderful views across to sea from front door. We found the location excellent for access to the Cleveland way & Cinder track which links Scarborough & Whitby so we enjoyed several loop walks including from cottage to Hayburn Wyke waterfalls, from Ravenscar to Robin Hoods Bay and Cloughton to Scarborough. The owner Cara was very helpful and left us a lovely welcome gift of tea, biscuits and cake. Facilities in the cottage were very good, modern kitchen, large bathroom with lovely underfloor heating. Just down the road was a roadside vegetable stall which worked on an honesty box system you could get fresh eggs, fruit & veg even freshly baked cakes! We had a really relaxing week at Dairy Cottage and would recommend staying there.

We have stayed in the middle of Whitby for years. This year changed no children and walking boots on I think we did and saw something new everyday

Very luxurious and cosy. The Jacuzzi bath was great. Even a coffee machine. A lot of touches that make for a great choice. Good base for exploring Whitby.
