  • "Great little cottage, handy for walking into town"

  • "We had a lovely 4 nights stay at The Tannery."

It is really well equipped and well appointed for the town and surrounding areas. Unfortunately we had the hottest day on record during our stay, so had to purchase a fan and pretty much stay indoors until the temperature dropped. This didn’t spoil our stay though-we just made up for it on the other days and enjoyed the cottage all the more being inside! The welcome basket was a lovely gesture too as were the lovely fresh flowers. Would highly recommend a stay at The Tannery.

The welcome pack was much appreciated along with the fresh flowers and dog biscuits, lovely touches. Would definitely recommend and will be returning, thanks Helen for a great stay!!!

There was a lovely hamper waiting for us and after an horrendous journey the t.bags and milk were most welcome! We were only a mile from the centre of Whitby which was also ideal. I would certainly recommend it.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and in such a good location. Everything was designed for comfort, really comfy beds, warm rooms and a really well equipped kitchen. It was so good to be able to walk into Whitby and not worry about parking. The street was very quiet and we felt really safe and secure there. I would definitely recommend The Tannery.

Lovely hamper on arrival but hard to distribute around lots of people e.g. 4 guests. In general, everything was clean ish but decorated nicely. Had trouble with doors as they kept swinging open and bang which wasn't ideal at night time. The toilet seats were all crooked. But overall was a nice stay with a few minor tweaks!

  • "The house was beautiful and very peaceful."

It had everything we needed. The only improvement would be is to have black out blinds on the front windows and to have a fan in the bedrooms as it was warm at night.

Glad there was a washing machine , some places prefer a dishwasher to a washing machine this property had both, we don't use dishwashers. Lovely welcome pack an option of decaff would have been good but thats just a minor thing for me. Very clean and comfortable, furnishings were of a high standard.

Good location - easy car parking which isn’t the case in the middle of Whitby - but was given the use of a parking zone permit for when we wanted to drive in. Lots of interesting ways to walk down into Whitby and lots of interest in Whitby. Cleveland way coastal route has great views and really good for dog- walking. Will definitely be back.

Far enough from the town to be peaceful but close enough to walk into Whitby. Lovely owner who was in touch if you needed to ask anything and a well received welcome pack. The house was clean, comfortable and had everything you would need for a pleasant stay.

  • "Lovely house very clean and tidy."

In a residential area just outside Whitby centre. A not to far walk from the centre one way on the cinder way then we went to Ruswarp the other way. But be aware the steep uneaven steps make it hard going. But we are over 70. Couple of draw backs, the dishwasher top drawer was broken so we didn’t use it, then later found it also had a leak, the toilet seats were very unstable. The beds all could do with new mattresses. The big minus though was being mid terrace we had three screaming kids on one side and a boy kicking a football for hours against the walls on the other. We could have complained but didn’t want to upset the locals, but could put us off going there again. A suggestion to the owner if a cupboard was installed in the alcove to the right of the chimney breast, glasses could be put there, then the other cupboard could be used to put food in,

  • "I would highly recommend the Tannery."

It is the perfect base to explore Whitby and North Yorkshire. It was only about a 15 minute walk to Whitby harbour which was brilliant when you have children with you! The house itself was immaculate and very clean. All beds were extremely comfortable for a good nights sleep. The house had everything you would need in terms of cooking and cleaning, the lovely owners also left a very nice welcome hamper and some dog treats which was a lovely surprise! There is also a lovely big dining table for family meals. Although there are neighbours either side with it being a terrace we never heard them and wouldn't have even known they were there. It really was a fantastic place to stay and a very lovely break after all of the lockdowns, we will definitely be back! Thank you for having us!

The property is very comfortable . The owner Helen left a lovely basket of goodies which was very thoughtful. Many Positives Comfortable beds with quality mattresses. Comfortable leather setee and chair. Spacious kitchen. Private outdoor area. Netflix on both TVs . Plenty of quality crockery and utensils. Minor Negatives - lack of wall mounted storage space in kitchen for food storage and no shaving point for charging electric toothbrush and razor. Its on a very nice estate and easy to find , around a 10 min walk to Town centre at my pace ( 3mph). Overall 9/10, would return again

After a long journey from Bedfordshire with train delays, we were pleased to see the place filled with necessity that you would want for 3 active children. Helen even left us some milk, juice in the fridge so that we could relax on a Sunday evening with most of the shops already closed. Plus there were delicious home made cup cakes, which were nicely arranged on the cake stand but quickly scoffed down by the hungry mob in no time! Gonna love the Yorkshire hospitality:)
