Ideally situated for the centre of town but lovely and quiet, comfortable bed and chairs and plenty of space for two.

A small freezer or ice making compartment would have been great as it was hot. Dishwasher not used. Bedside tables would have been nice as the chairs not flat, but overall very nice place.

Excellent location and no issues with parking. Bed was really comfortable. If you prefer to sleep in a very dark room as I do,I would suggest you take an eye mask as the bedroom is very light from dawn. I used eye mask and slept ok . Shower was good. Kitchen well equipped.Would recommend.

The flat was presented to a high standard, it could not have been any handier for the town centre yet it was so quiet and peaceful sleeping was no problem!

!! Our hosts made up a welcome pack which was really appreciated if only others were as diligent the “ letting “ world would be a better place , We would strongly urge others to visit the little flat, you won’t be disappointed

Perfect accommodation for us right in the heart of Barnard Castle.

Very well equipped flat, comfortable bed and great shower. Our dog was catered for with treats and a water bowl with her name on. A lovely welcome pack for us too. Our hosts were very responsive to messages. We would love to have a return visit.

We absolutely loved the little flat.

Slap bang in the middle of Barnard Castle, so handy for all amenities. Very easy to find as the instructions given were very accurate. The flat itself is lovely and clean, equipped with everything we needed, and the bed is soooo comfortable. The virtual car parking was a big help too, it took my mind off trying to find a parking place.

A perfect, comfortable flat for 2 right in the centre of Barnard Castle, which itself has plenty to see and do, along with many good options for eating out. Also a great base for getting around Durham and North Yorkshire. The bed is probably the most comfortable bed you will ever sleep in!

Great location and spotlessly clean.

Lovely comfy bed. Found the bedroom a bit dark and would have liked a dressing table to do hair and makeup. The only thing I would change in the kitchen area would be a freezer instead of a dishwasher as the flat is equipped for two people a freezer would be more beneficial.All in all a nice stay.

Great flat it was very clean and very well presented.

The welcome pack and dog bowl was also a welcome. It was great to be able to park the car with the car permit left at the flat. There were plenty of shops to see and eating places to try . Thank you very much to the the Owners

The Little Flat is perfect in every way.

The owners have obviously gone to a great deal of trouble to ensue that every last little detail has been carefully thought out to ensure an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The location is also ideal, only twenty meters from the main street of Barnard Castle but tucked away so that it is extremely quiet. Barnard Castle itself is a great little town, still thriving with lots of independent shops. During our visit we found the atmosphere in the town to be very friendly and welcoming. Another nice touch is the parking permit ,enabling free parking, for the adjacent car park.

Beautiful cottage.

In the centre of town. The car park is nearby, but not outside the cottage. The flat would benefit by a freezer in the fridge, otherwise than that it here was everything that you would want. Would recommend

Lovely warm quiet flat and liked the welcome hamper and dog friendly approach (throw provided to protect the furniture).

Close to everything although some things closed (the castle except on weekends) as we visited out of season. The only thing I’d change at the flat would be a bedside table not a chair for a more even surface and a freezer compartment in the fridge.

The flat was very good, nice to have 2 comfortable chairs instead of the low- back plastic leather, slippy sofas you get in so many holiday cottages.

The bedding was immaculate, cosy and comfortable. Everything was clean and well thought out. Very handy for the cafes, restaurants and shops. Great for walking without using the car.

This was our second stay here and it was just as wonderful this time. It’s clean, warm, and well furnished, and is located in a quiet courtyard right in the heart of the beautiful town of Barnard Castle. The owners are very kind and helpful.

Perfect stay at the little flat, very clean and lovely layout, lovely little hamper and dog treats aswell as Monty's name on the water bowl made it very welcoming, offsite hosting was great had all the information needed and was easy to check in and out.

Lovely little flat very comfortable, right in the center of town, but still very peaceful.

This being due to the fact that it is tucked away in a courtyard behind the main street. We felt more could have been made of the courtyard, with a bit of a clean up. But we would recommend to others and return ourselves. Barnard Castle and surrounding area is lovely and we found everyone very friendly.

Attention to detail excellent.

TV remotes could be a problem to manoeuvre for certain people. Enjoyed our stay location ideal. Going back to same area would definitely use again.

Can’t fault it just perfect for the 2 of us had everything we needed and such a good location.

Just came back from a wonderful stay at the little flat.

Welcomed with a lovely breakfast hamper and treats for the dog and a bowl with his name on really made to feel welcome. Flat is fabulous warm and cosy with everything you need for your stay. Village is both beautiful and peaceful with plenty of history and some fantastic gravestones in the local church. People very friendly with some lovely local shops and pubs. Plenty things to do and see would definitely recommend this property. Thank you for a great stay and start to the year

You can tell that a lot of thought has been put into everything, it’s well equipped, very comfortable and so peaceful despite being in the centre of town. We had a great time - thank you!

Right in the centre of Barney ( Barnard Castle) but very quiet with all amenities outside the gate. Lovely welcoming hamper, personalised dog bowl with doggy treats too . The flat has everything you need had one of the most comfortable beds & bedding ever & we’ve both slept do well. We’ve eaten at lots of lovely places in the town, tea rooms & pubs.. everyone is so welcoming & our dog was given a treat at nearly every place we shopped! Great walks along the river & lovely to sit out round the castle in the glorious sunshine. We will definitely rebook to stay again ! Thank you Mel x

A perfect base to explore Barnard castle and the surrounding area.

We have just returned from our wonderful stay at The Little Flat.

What a fabulous place it is, there is everything there that we needed and more. .Plenty of crockery and cutlery to enable us to use the dish washer plus tablets for the washer too. It was so clean and comfortable, and the bed was sooooo comfortable. It is in town but no noise to be heard. We will definitely go back !!

A nice place to stay, central to Barnard Castle and busy main road, walk through the street door into the courtyard and it’s so quiet the little flat is ideal for a couple, the surrounding area is fascinating so much to see.

A beautiful stone building with lots of quirky features.

Beautiful bedding, gorgeous dressing gowns, fabulous bathroom. Ample storage in bedroom and kitchen. In the centre of everything, but so quiet you forgot you were in the centre of a busy market town, even in the courtyard. Lots of independent shops and eateries. Had to contact owner when I first arrived as I couldn’t get in, but it was my fault I stopped at the first door, owner was lovely and helpful. A fabulous hamper awaited our arrival which was a very nice touch. Even provided a water bowl with my dogs name on it. We left items behind which the owner is returning to us and made me feel it was no problem. All together an amazing experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Two Words " Simply Excellant" This is a smashing place to stay with plenty of room for two people with or without a dog.

Our dog is medium / Large size. The kitchen has everything you need to do meals is you like self catering as opposed to just eating out or take aways. it is in an excellant location for everrything in the town but once in the flat there is absoluely no noise from the traffic. Mel, our host contacted us prior to our dates to offer a choice of items in our welcome pack which was very thoughtful. The water dish even had our dogs name on it not that she can read. Ha Ha ! We loved The Little Flat.

It is right in the middle of Barnard Castle in a quiet yard just off the market pace. The flat is furnished to a very high standard and immaculately clean. The owners had gone to a lot of trouble to make us feel welcome(including our dog). We'd love to return.

This exceptional, immaculate and peaceful holiday cottage exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed for our stay. It was decorated to a high standard, the huge bed was very comfortable, the welcome pack was a lovely touch with treats for our old dog ... even the dogs water bowl had her name on it!! The accommodation was well situated in the heart of Barnard Castle with plenty of wonderful walks on the doorstep. We hardly used the car!! Absolutely perfect for a single person or couple.

Lovely, modern and tastefully decorated. Clean with everything two people would need. The welcome pack was a bonus, with the best tasting bread I’ve tasted. During our stay we reported the light in the close wasn’t working and that was fixed the following day. The only slight issue we had was that the stairs up to the flat from the front door are very steep and our elderly dog couldn’t manage them at the end of a day and had to be carried up.

Really clean and comfortable flat with everything we needed and more. We had a great time and could have stayed longer, we would definitely recommend “The Little Flat” and “Barny” and will hopefully stay again soon!

I recently stayed at this lovely little flat for four weeks.

The location is great and the flat itself is very comfortable, clean and quiet. Any queries I had were quickly answered and I would not hesitate to recommend it for a break in the Dales.

Lovely flat in a great location.

A little surprised it didn’t have a microwave but didn’t really matter to us. A lovely welcome hamper was left by the owners which was much appreciated Directions to flat were only given as coming in from the west. Would have been helpful to have also had directions from east as took us several miles out of our way in trying to connect with the instructions. All in all a great holiday and we would definitely go back.

The directions given by Sykes Cottages would have taken us directly to a long stay car park with all luggage is a fare track.

Thankfully we was contacted by the owners who advised of two hour duration to park free almost directly outside the flat.

The Little Flat is ideally located close to all facilities to the rear of the main street but it is really quiet.

The kitchen is very well equipped and the flat comfortable and warm. Great for getting out and about in the beautiful dales. Highly recommended.

We recently stayed in the Little Flat.

We had booked the flat for 4 Nights commencing 14th September 2020. We found the flat itself very clean, tidy and cosy. It is tastefully furnished and of a high standard. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night as we found the flat totally unsuitable if you have mobility problems. My wife and I both use walking sticks and whilst noticing the comment about steps up to and within the flat. We did not expect the steps to be so high or steep in the central area. Because of this, my wife slept in one of the armchairs for the night, and I struggled to move from the lounge area to the bedroom. We were so disappointed as we were looking forward to our stay and this was the first time we used Sykes Cottages. I do think that it should be made clear in the information for The Little Flat that it may be unsuitable for people with mobility issues.

It was simply perfect for our needs as an elderly but still lively (I hope!) couple. Luxury, comfort and style in abundance. And so central to enjoy the pleasures of a fascinating little town and it's surrounds. Excellent practical arrangements were provided by Sykes Cottages and the owner.

Great little flat, 1 minute away from marketplace yet totally quiet and secluded.

Cosy and clean with a very large comfy bed. Though the flat was compact the lounge and bedroom were a good size. Smashing area to explore - lovely market town yet beautiful countryside on doorstep. Only downside for us was the yard outside was not a tempting place to sit and for those it matters to there was no microwave nor freezer/ icebox. All in all though we'd go again and can recommend.

However our visit coincided with extremely hot weather.We found that the fridge struggled to keep our food fresh and we would suggest that the owners add a fridge freezer compartment in the future.We were also surprised to find no microwave.We would not hesitate to book the !little flat again due to it's excellent location in a lovely town.

A little hidden gem, just off the market place but private enough to chill out.

Fantastic decor and maintained to a very high standard. Fabulous planned walks printed out in the flat which helped us a great deal. Keith our dog was over the moon with his treats and personalised dog bowl! The welcome hamper we absolutely fantastic. Will definitely return

Fantastic small but cosy and inviting first floor flat.

Just big enough for two, with a large bedroom, nice modern shower/toilet room, and cost lounge/dining/kitchen room. Tucked away up an alley you wouldn't know existed, but then straight out onto the high street, so perfect access for the lovely market town and all its joys. The flat was clean and in great condition, with a nice touch of a small food hamper on our arrival. Free parking in the nearby car park via a permit for the car. Fast wifi, Netflix and amazon, plus lots of dvd's, games and guides provided. Most definitely will go again. You must visit Bowes Museum, such a great place. Half hour to Richmond or Durham.

Terrific little flat, ideal for a couple and one dog (anymore would be a little cramped).

The flat is ideally situated just off the High Street and has adequate facilities. The welcome hamper was a nice touch, as was the free parking voucher for the duration of our stay. The flat is accessed by a steep but short flight of stairs which might not suit everyone but was fine for us. Mel (the owner) was very informative about any questions we asked about the area- dog walks/places to eat/drink etc. Entry instructions via the key safe were very clear and convenient. Overall a very nice "little flat" with added bonus of use of the amazon firestick and WiFi. We would definitely return.

Everything was perfect and appreciated the TV options available rather than just BBC/ITV etc.

I've been to Barnard Castle before but haven't stayed there before and was delighted by the welcome given to both me and my dog.

The situation in the heart of the town was perfect for popping out for a walk round the many interesting shops (most dog-friendly) or along the fields by the river but nevertheless quiet when I wanted to "chill"

Right in the centre of Keswick. Parking not far away and given a permit for it, although it's very busy at times. The property is to an exceptionally high standard, with all the mod-cons. Lots of JosephJoseph kitchenware. Would happily book again if staying in Keswick.

It was literally step outside the door and you was on the high street which had all the shops you could want and for evening there were plenty of little restaurants and pubs.

Barnard castle is a good Base to travel to other market toes like Northallerton Richmond Durham were the cathedral is well worth it as theasy museum just round the corner of the flat. The flat is ideal for two people and has a little modern bathroom and the bedroom is very comfortable would definitely go again

The Little Flat was situated on the Main Street of Barnard Castle but was actually located at the rear of the building thus making it very quiet but very handy for the High St.

the Little Flat is a gem of a cottage, lovingly restored and decorated in a secluded location yet within a stones through of the market town and scenic river walks.

Doesn't disappoint and would highly recommend a visit.
