  • "Lovely little cottage with loads of nice details by the owner."

But it is really small/tiny, the stairs only half of normal stairs, the beds felt smaller than usual queensize and you need to have small hips to use the toilet. Wonder what is the m2 in total ? That said it was a good starting point for our excursions, the kitchen had all necessities and once one got used to the place it has been a nice stay.

The homemade cake a damson wine was a lovely welcome touch. The cottage is situated in an excellent position for many walks and near to other beautiful villages. We found the locals very friendly and the pub opposite served good food. Overall we had a lovely stay.

  • "Had a great time in Chapel Cottage."

There was a lovely lemon drizzle cake to welcome us and a bottle of milk in the fridge so we could make a cup of tea after our journey. Also David had left us some damson gin to try. David lived next door and was very friendly, if we needed him for anything he was quick to respond. The White Bear pub across the road very friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. The Bay Tree also was dog friendly. Everyone we met were very friendly and we hope to be back later in the year when the weather may be a little warmer, and less windy! Thanks David and Tanya for a lovely stay.

  • "We had a great stay at Chapel Cottage."

Perfect for two, parking right outside in a quiet village, the only things going up and down the road were us and the harvesting lorries. Absolutely fantastic location for visiting York itself and tourist attractions in Yorkshire. Two great pubs, one opposite (not noisy at all, fantastic real ale selection and innovative food) and another about 100yds along, slightly more up market. We had a great time all around, the owner just next door was very welcoming, the little bottle of flavoured gin was delicious. We would definitely recommend Chapel Cottage as a base for sight seeing, or just some down time.

Only downside was the size of the bathroom. Despite unable to use the basin due to push plug leaking, it was really too small to be practical. The property could also benefit from information on how to use various items and things to do in the local area.
