Lovely cottage, in an ideal location to explore many popular places in North Yorkshire.

The cottage itself has everything you need, and the option to use the EV charger is an added bonus. Welcome basket is a nice touch too.

Puddleduck cottage is a lovely place to spend a holiday at.

the cottage is always spotlessly clean, and the owners are a lovely helpful couple and their is everything you could possibly need in it. It is in a lovely village which is central to anywhere you would like to go for days out I can't think of anywhere better for a nice holiday.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful village.

The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed for a week away. It's location is perfect for walking into Thornton le Dale and is a short drive from lovely market towns and only 30 minutes from the coast.

We had a great week at puddle duck its a lovely cottage with everything you would need.

We got a lovely welcome pack bread milk butter biscuits .the cottage was lovely and clean there was a seating area with table and chairs and lovely views. Thornton-le-dale is lovely with little coffee shop pubs and everything you would want only about 15 minutes walk away we will be going back and would recommend this cottage to friends

Fantastic accommodation, thoroughly clean and well equipped.

A nice touch was the welcome goodies including wine and chocolates and essentials like milk and butter . Could not fault this place one bit with plentiful off road parking and just a short walk to the village of Thornton le Dale. Would happily stay again and recommend to others.

We had a great time staying in Puddleduck Cottage.

We arrived during the recent heatwave and found this beautiful cottage to be pleasantly cool inside, due to its thick stone walls so it was very welcoming. Also welcoming was the goodies that were left for us, including bread & butter, milk, wine etc. This was far more generous than most other cottage owners leave for their guests, so thank you Simon and Jane. The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay, and more! Thornton-le-dale is a lovely village with plenty of amenities. Whilst there we visited the coastal resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Bridlington. Nearby picturesque Hutton-le-hole with its Ryedale Folk Museum was a delight, as was Nunnington Hall and Yorkshire Lavender. Probably the highlight of our stay in Yorkshire was visiting York with its very interesting Castle Museum and not forgetting the Jorvik Viking Centre. A walk along the city walls is also a must. We would definitely love to stay in Puddleduck Cottage again if we return to North Yorkshire.

Well equipped,clean and very convenient to places to visit.

Lovely cottage, walking distance from the village and well placed to take advantage of the North Yorkshire Moors, Wolds and Coast.

The cottage contained all necessary facilities and more besides. A welcome pack including bread and milk was greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend Puddleduck cottage for a great getaway for a few days or longer.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others Very peaceful at night and only a 5-10 minute walk to village where there are plenty coffee shops and 2 pubs Great base to explore Yorkshire and the Moors

From the moment we arrived we knew we'd made a very good choice.

Puddleduck Cottage is a beautifully converted barn - very homely and our family of five (inc three teenage children) loved it. The facilities are perfect and room sizes were absolutely fine for us. The back garden is delightful - looking over the sheep field, and we had the added surprise of a couple of lambs being born during our stay. The property was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack of goodies a lovely surprise. The location is great - just a five minute stroll to the pubs and shops. And then so many delights of the North York Moors, the east coast and so on just a short drive away. We had some car trouble on our final day and ended our trip waiting for the AA to attend. The owners were incredibly welcoming and kind and looked after us superbly despite us still being around while they were preparing for the next guests. Throughout the trip it felt like we were very welcomed guests in part of their beautiful home. We now completely understand why so many of the reviews we read were from repeat visitors - we will definitely be back as well. Thank you for a wonderful few days away.

We have lost count now of how many times we have stayed at Puddleduck, the hosts Simon and Jane are simply terrific, nothing is too much trouble.

The cottage has become a home from home it has everything you could need as well as a lovely welcome hamper, we immediately feel settled and excited for our adventures ahead. The town is beautiful with everything you could ask for including friendly locals. Exploring nearby towns is equally something we look forward too. Thanks again for another wonderful week

Lovely, cosy cottage, spotlessly clean.

Thornton le Dale is a friendly little place, well serviced with shops, cafes and pubs. This was our third stay at Puddleduck and it didn’t disappoint. The owners clearly care that you enjoy your holiday and put great thought into the welcome basket to get you started. Thank you and we hope to return next year

Lovely cottage, situated in a beautiful village and all the places/attractions we wanted to visit were only a short drive away.

Cottage is equipped with everything you will need and I have to say the welcome pack was well received also!

This cottage is beautiful within a lovely village with fabulous amenities.

The photos don't do the property justice. Behind the cottage there are sheep in a field and a really nice private garden. The owners have thought of everything and it's like home from home, even a welcome pack, they helped us out tremendously when we needed it.. Will not hesitate to return. Thank you.

Puddleduck cottage is a lovely comfy cottage it has everything you need to make a perfect holiday and the village it's in is a lovely place with plenty of places to eat near to should you prefer to eat out, the owners are lovely people.

Simply and tastefully furnished, in a perfect location a few minutes walk from the village Every appliance and utensil one could need were provided We enjoyed the garden where the only sound was birdsong Thornton Le Dale itself is a lovely place surrounded by beautiful countryside

The only reason we are giving 5 stars is because it's not possible to give 6.

The cottage was perfect for us. Absolutely spotless, beautifully appointed, a very generous welcome pack and perfectly situated for the local village and every destination we had planned. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage and we have every intention of returning in the future.

Great little cottage and lovely village with Dalby forest and Whitby almost on the dooostep.

Can't fault anything about our stay at puddle duck cottage the welcome pack was really good.

The location is excellent for York, Whitby, Robin Hoods bay and Scarborough Would definitely stay here again

Our second stay at Puddleduck and it didn’t disappoint.

Jane thoughtfully checked-in on us to ask if we were warm enough due to the very cold weather. The cottage was spotlessly clean and the welcome basket was well received thank you. Puddleduck has great off road parking as is perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding area. We hope to return in the new year for a third visit

Absolutely beautiful cottage.

Every need has been catered for. The owners have made a lovely comfortable and quirky holiday home which leaves you wanting for nothing….except a much longer stay. We really enjoyed our short break and will definitely return

Main door still sticking ( pointed the same thing out on our last visit 5/6 years ago ) so not the easiest to close and lock Banged our legs on the frame of the bed a few times as there is only a narrow walk way But this would not stop us from coming back , lovely well positioned cottage with parking outside New inn has food all week ( but decided not to do food on the Monday and as the Buck only dose Wednesday to Sunday we ended up with fish & chips ) the fox & rabbit just out of town is very good but probably best to book a table Chocolate shop is fabulous

Lovely, cosy holiday cottage.

Perfect for our family half term break. Lovely village, with plenty to do not too far away, like Scarborough Castle and Whitby. A very much appreciated welcome basket of essentials and treats too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

The only improvement we would make, and it is a small one, is that a double hook should be fitted to the bathroom door.

Puddleduck cottage is a lovely clean and comfortable place to stay ,their is everything you're likely to need including a comfortable bed I slept like a log every night.

The is also within walking distance of a lovely village and it's central for anywhere else you wish to go to ,I can't fault it I've been before and I'll certainly go back again

The cottage was the perfect base for our mini holiday and travelling around North Yorkshire. The village itself its absolutely stunning and very welcoming.

It was an extremly clean property with a lovely welcome package. Provieing a great spot to visit locations such as castle howard, thirsk, york, piglets adventure farm and also woldies all a must if you have children. The owners were so friendly when i asked them if theh could come sort the little visitor that scared me. Would reccommend thank you for such a pleasent stay.

This is a lovely furnished cottage with a quiet rear garden in the middle of Thornton-Le-Dale, one of the prettiest English villages.

Especially the bathroom is very spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen is well fitted out for home cooking. We were very pleased with the welcome package we found upon arrival: bread, butter, wine, biscuits, milk and chocolate. York and Castle Howard are on your doorstep, as is the North York Moor Railways steamtrain to Goathland (Hogwart) and Whitby.

The cottage was delightful.

It was clean upon arrival and the owners had everything provided for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would come back again.

In spite of unseasonably cold weather, the heating was very efficient!

The village was a great centre for local attractions, with a brilliant bus service.

We had a very comfortable stay at Puddleduck Cottage, there was everything you needed, and a welcome pack full of goodies, much appreciated.

The cottage is in easy walking distance from the village centre, where there is a local store, fish and chip shop, pubs and restaurants. Would definitely recommend.

Simon & Jane have totally nailed it, even more impressive as they're comparative newbies to the cottage letting game!

The cottage is lovely, everything you need, nothing you don't, right down to the 'Welcome' hamper. There's all the home equipment you require for a longer stay, washing machine, dishwasher, outside washing line so no need to be swamped by laundry when you get home. Simon tells us it's still a work in progress, but other than perhaps a link of paint and an odd tweak here & there it's perfectly fine ad it is. The lounge is comfortable, plenty of room to sprawl around, the bed is vast and supremely comfy, so a good night's sleep is virtually assured. All in all, very very good, high quality cottage. The paddock to the rear of the cottage reinforces the rural feeling, along with the sizeable lawned area to relax at the table with a long glass of something alcoholic. Be assured, we will be back, as time and circumstances allow, as its a wonderful place to let the cares of the world float away!

The cottage had a lovely situation and was very convenient for the village amenities.

The directions to get to the property were accurate and clear. The standard of equipment and cleanliness was excellent. Hot water and heating was set up for the guests convenience. It was a quiet location and parking space was close by and spacious. The WiFi was fast and reliable. Just two minor comments – nothing that would stop us re-booking and that need not be included in what you publish about the cottage. We found the large knives a little on the blunt side for cutting anything substantial. We used the washing machine just once and found the cycle very slow.

Comfortable and handy for local shops and bus stop if wanting to leave the car for the day. Good communication with the owners prior to visit and lovely welcoming goodies on arrival! Would happily recommend, and hope to return soon.

A really lovely cottage with all the facilities and equipment we could need.

Excellent location, close to pubs, restaurant, shop, ice-cream parlour, tea room and chippy; and well placed for visiting the sights. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and much appreciated, and put smiles on our faces when we arrived! We docked you one point on comfort as the sofa and tub chairs weren't the most comfortable....we like to slob around on a big sofa! Having said that we would love to visit again one day. Thank you for having us (sorry we didn't make a note in your guest book, we didn't have a pen)

The cottage was ideal for us as a family of 4.

Very cosy, well equipped kitchen and a lovely garden which we were able to have breakfast in most days! The cottage is in a great location in the village, within walking distance to it's amenities (shops, pub, ice cream etc) and a great location too for exploring the North York Moors - we had a great time in Dalby Forest, and some lovely walks in the moors as well as on the coast.

Short stay Aug 15th to 17th with 4 year old grandson.

Comfortable, well decorated. The welcome basket was well appreciated, especially the wine. Everything we needed was there and would recommend staying here. Only complaint can you make the sign stand out a bit more. It blends into the brick work and we missed it a few times. All in all we had a comfortable stay.

The only thing we would recommend is to change the sofa and chairs to more comfortable ones otherwise very happy

Directions for getting there were not at all good.

Very difficult to find as it is off road. A phone call to your office didn't help either as it just resulted in an email full of gobbledegook.

Lovely barn in a pretty village.

Very convenient for coast and country. Good family room for 1 to 3 persons. Main bedroom very nice but the bed is very firm. Jane kindly supplied a topper which helped. Well equipped kitchen. Really enjoyed our stay.

A wonderful little cottage, we really appreciated the welcome pack.

The owners had thought of everything, the only thing we did go out and purchase was an extension lead for the single bedroom as we had nowhere to charge all the devices and some medical equipment. We found a little dust under the bunk bed but it didn't impact on our stay (we left a little note mentioning it, however only so whoever cleaned it could address it for future guests who may be bothered). The only way to improve it would be to change the couch and chairs in the living room, we all found them pretty uncomfortable. It was great to have faultless wifi, the visitor book was a great addition and was all the information we needed for our stay however the leaflet “basket” could do with an update. We had a wonderful time though and would recommend it, especially if the furniture was updated.
