immaculately clean upon arrival plus a lovely cake to welcome us from the lovely owner, Amanda. The cottage is lovely with great facilities and tasteful furnishings. The room sizes are generous, but remain welcoming. Even an open fire for those warm and cosy nights in during the winter. We would highly recommend this gorgeous cottage.

Thornton-le-Dale is a very pretty village with the shops and eating places only a stroll away. Pickering is only 3 miles and many other places of interest are nearby. We spent time in the well kept garden having a drink after our meal rounding off our day. We shall return as it certainly exceeded our expectations.

  • "Wonderful cottage, in a beautiful village and ideal location for exploring the North York Moors National Park."

The Cottage was very clean, well laid out and had everything you could need, it was warm and cosy and the garden was lovely, a real sun trap on the decking where we sat out to enjoy meals and watch the birds and world go by. Thornton Le Dale is such a relaxing place, just a short walk to the end of the road from The Cottage and over the bridge across the ford takes you into a lovely little copse which follows the beck up towards the centre of the village and the duck pond (where we were lucky enough to see the abundance of ducklings!). We enjoyed wandering around the village on various easy going walks with our dog and for further adventures we went to Dalby Forest which is vast, as well as a scenic drive across the moors to Whitby. We also visited Ravenscar, Pickering, Helmsley and Scarborough which are all very easily accessible from this fabulous base. Also thank you to Amanda who was very quick to come over and sort out a minor problem with the heating. Couldn't recommend this place enough and i hope that i will be fortunate enough to stay here again in the future. Can also recommend the helpful and friendly team at Sykes, who, when our original cottage was cancelled due to covid restrictions, were very quick to infrom us and assist us with an alternative booking option, we were so grateful to be able to keep our dates and in hindsight we ended up in the best place we could have!

literally everything had been thought of. Information on local walks was at hand & would recommend walk 4 into Dalby forest. The cottage was very clean & comfortable & quiet set in a beautiful village. It takes a few minutes to walk to the centre of the village and duck pond. Would recommend the ice cream parlour

Great location, well equipped and we had a smashing time. The village is lovely and felt quite at home and didn't want to leave which is always a great sign. The owner had thought a lot about the needs of guests and apart from the very minor point of the gate being padlocked and maybe the addition of a clothes horse could not have been faulted. We hope to return one day.
