Clean, quaint and very homely. The facilities are brilliant throughout. The owners are fantastic, very accommodating and polite. The hot tub was the reason we booked the cottage and it’s perfect, you can tell the owners take pride in keeping it clean as well as the cleanliness of the property. We were and still are so impressed with the cottage. Impressed that much that we have already booked again for next year, straight after our wedding as a pre honeymoon getaway. We were given a very informative tour of the cottage and facilities and were given a complimentary half dozen eggs, biscuits and milk which came in handy. The hot tub was brilliant and the cottage, you couldn't want for anything there was a dishwasher, washing machine and the kitchen as a whole was very well equipped. You have a covered parking space and also key safe near the door. I believe this is essential as I just don't like the idea of taking it with us when out. You are in a gated enclosed area which adds extra security. The one thing that was against us was the weather - rain and high winds but we felt very safe and cosy and quite enjoyed being able to look out at the bad weather. All in all we had a great few days here as a base for exploring the surrounding area. Many thanks.

Milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits, even 6 eggs from their own hens. The cottage is very comfortable and cosy with everything working as it should. Location is perfect, in a small village but central to many places to visit. We had a stroll to the local pub but I wouldn't recommend doing it in the dark as there are long sections of the country lane without a footpath you maybe ok with a good torch. Easy option is a taxi. We would highly recommend this to family, friends or anybody wanting a relaxing break. Karen, Shaun We had the perfect 4 night break. Thank you for your hospitality you have everything spot on. Host there to greet us on arrival and gave us a little tour . Despite being adjoined to owners’ property you never felt intruded upon, they are lovely people and have done an amazing job with this place. Hot tub was amazing and many hours were spent in there! Log burner was also great and would be perfect for colder nights. Bed is big and comfy. If you’re looking for somewhere to just relax and not go out much this is perfect. It is close to a nice beachy walk but be prepared to drive a bit if you can coax yourself out of the hot tub for long enough as there’s little in walking distance. All in all a great weekend in a lovely cottage which had excellent facilities!

The hosts Karen & Shaun couldn’t have been more hospitable or friendly nothing was too much trouble for them. We didn’t want to leave at the end of the week. This cottage has absolutely everything you could want & more for a self catering holiday. Upon arrival there was a lovely welcome pack consisting of fresh eggs (from their own hens) milk, tea, coffee, sugar & lovely biscuits. There is a beautiful log burner which we took advantage of most nights as we didn’t fare well with the weather. The poor weather didn’t spoil our holiday though we went somewhere everyday then came back to the cosy logburner. This cottage is perfectly situated for Hornsea, Bridlington, Scarborough, Bempton, Filey & Flamborough. There are pubs about a mile away in Skipsea & Barmston & its on a bus route too. All info is in a book in the cottage. We had the best nights sleep ever here in the kingsize comfy bed & a huge shower cubicle in the bathroom. I would add that the wifi signal is perfect in the bedroom but weaker in the lounge but was told Shaun is organising a booster for this. It was never a problem anyway as we just made sure we connected in the bedroom when we needed to. An added bonus to this cottage is the fabulous hot tub which we took advantage of & a lovely garden to sit in on sunnier days. Please do book this cottage you will not be disappointed it really does have everything. We will def be back!

The hot tub wonderfull. Everything we needed was there including a endless supply of wood for stove. We struggled to get heating to work properly(electric radiators), we asked for help,we were told they took time to heat up and not to play with them just turn on and off as indicated. During the first night we were so cold and radiators had not got hot what so ever. I searched the Internet for instructions the next morning and found rads had been set at 12 degrees in bedroom and main area no wonder we were cold. The bathroom always was cold. What does not help is the stone floor tiles everywhere except bedroom The shower we never could get very hot water, it was sometimes ok ish at first but got cold before finishing shower. My wife could not entertain a shower and had to old fashion strip wash every day. I would imagine excellent when warmer weather but not when its cold. My wife wanted to go home after after a couple of days we had to stay as had appointment on Wed, but we left next day making a feeble excuse.

  • "Willow Cottage is in a good location in the quiet village of Ulrome."

It has a very peaceful atmosphere day and night. There is a well stocked shop in nearby Skipsea, and Ulrome is relatively close to Bridlington, Filey, etc. There is a lane going from Ulrome to the sea, but coastal erosion is very evident here so there are safer beaches in other nearby villages. The cottage owners live on site (in Ivy Cottage, on Main Street), and they are very pleasant and helpful. Willow Cottage is behind and at right angles to Ivy Cottage, so it isn't visible from the road. On site there is a large, gravelled courtyard, easy parking undercover and very pleasant grounds (including seating in the paddock under the willow trees next to the pond). Friendly chickens and ducklings live in the paddock. Willow Cottage has its own (fenced off) outdoor area, with table and seating, and a beautiful hot tub under a permanent gazebo. Plenty of privacy. The Cottage is well-equipped and certainly spacious enough for two people. There are electric panel heaters, plus a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has WC, washbasin, and a large shower cubicle, and water pressure is very good. Older and/or disabled people please note that there are no grab rails in the shower cubicle, or adjacent to the WC. Narrow doorways would also prevent wheelchair access into and around the cottage. Willow cottage has been sympathetically converted from very old farm buildings. Unfortunately there are two very low interior doorways (5'5" and 5'8") and as hubby is 6'6" and I'm 5'7" this did cause some problems as we were unaware of this before arrival - although I'm loathe to put that it didn't meet our expectations just because of this one feature Apart from this, we had a really enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful holiday.

The kitchen was well stocked, bed was extra comfy and the shower was powerful and hot. The hot tub outside was a treat and easy to use. A lovely wood burner, with wood provided, made the cottage nice and cozy on cold nights in. The only thing I wished was better was the wifi, as it was we could only get a useful signal in the bedroom, and our EE data and mobile phone signal was nonexistent inside the cottage. However, if you're spending time on days out, then that's not a problem. All said and done, we had a very lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to rebook this cottage and recommend it to others.

There is undercover parking for the car and it all felt very safe and relaxed The property is actually attached to the owners bungalow It is really quiet and as there are no street lights its a dark sky area so the ability to star gaze is really good and we had some great sightings of the moon We took trips out to Hornsea, Bridlington and the time before we ventured up to Scarborough - all within easy travelling distance There are no shops in the village of Ulrome but just on the Hornsea road, couple of miles in Atwick, there is a local shop with a cash machine (free) and local shop provisions A couple of pubs around the area offer some good meals, Post box about a hundred yards down into the village. If you want to walk on the beach take the Bridlington road and then take the road to Fraisthorpe and from there you can walk to Brid, have a coffee and then walk back to your car! Highly recommended

Fantastic hot tub that was used regularly during our visit. The owners were fantastic and very accommodating, they showed us how to work everything and had lots of information in the property about local attractions, supermarkets, shops, takeaways and petrol stations. The wood burner made the living room extereamley cosy on a winters night. We would defiantly recommend and visit again

The cottage itself was cosy and well equipped and the large private hot tub was superb. The hosts Sean and Karen managed to balance friendliness and guests privacy perfectly. We had brilliant weather throughout and enjoyed sunbathing in the hosts privately owned land, watching the wildlife and the free roaming hens which eggs were delicious. We will certainly be returning again.

About the location

Hornsea 6 miles; Bridlington 9 miles; Driffield 11 miles; Beverley 15 miles.

The village of Skipsea is situated in the Yorkshire Wolds, in a typically rural setting surrounded by rich, agricultural land, yet Skipsea also sits within one mile of the beach and is close to the cliffs of the North Sea. The village has its own Post Office and general store, a hairdresser’s and a pub. Many of the houses in the village, both old and new, use cobbles from the sea shore in the building. Just outside the village are the remains of Skipsea Castle. The surrounding countryside is excellent for walking and cycling, whilst the nearby seaside towns of Bridlington and Filey boast long sandy beaches and numerous resort attractions. The Deep Submarium at Hull, Sledmere House and Burton Constable Hall are within 20 miles, whilst the shops, cathedral and museum of historic York, the resort town of Scarborough and the North Yorks Moors Steam Railway at Pickering are within an hour’s drive, and Whitby is just a little further, making Skipsea a superb base for a relaxing holiday.
