  • "Firstly the camera work makes this place look very spacious, imo this accommodation is suited to 4 occupants at most ."

On arrival we found there is no curtain at the front door ,which is right opposite both bedroom doors ,luckily there was no one occupying the opposite lodge . When we went to cook on the first night my wife had to spend 40 mins cleaning the oven ,as oven was not clean at all ,we do have photos if disputed (on wife's phone ) ,we found an empty bubble bath bottle down the back of the bath , several cobwebs and a cake wrapper in the cupboard upstairs where the upstairs hoover is stored ,which would have been easy to see if you were to use the hoover . We left a day early as both double beds had mattresses that had seen better days and were not kind to my wife's back , we slept on the two single beds for 2 nights as the beds are higher and the mattresses are newer and had to bring the the blind from upstairs to provide some privacy at the front door . The lodge is set in quite a nice area but I think would be quite busy if all lodges were fully occupied ,but as it was quiet this was not an issue . The kitchen is well equipped with very good appliances ( un clean oven already mentioned ) , perhaps bigger tvs in all rooms . The hi light was the hot tub which was most welcome after a walk We have stayed with sykes before and enjoyed it very much but this time not so much .

Well-equipped, spacious and such peaceful surroundings, we spotted squirrels, bunnies, alas no deer. The children loved the hot-tub - it made every day perfect. Great trips to Whitby we recommend the park and ride. Staithes beach and the hidden castle at Mulgrave. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. People at reception were so nice and helpful. Lovely welcome package. A hidden Gem.

  • "We had a great time at the lodge."

From the outside the lodge is starting to look just a little worn in; but once you step through the door the nice open plan living area worked really well and felt very luxurious. The only builds we’d have were: the beds themselves, though spacious weren’t very comfortable for us (too soft and supporting) so both have left with some backache There was also building work taking place during our stay which we weren’t informed about (looks like new access being created for additional lodges close by) so check when you’re booking as does interrupt the tranquility when you’re relaxing in the hot tub. Hot tub was great for us as a 2, be mindful if you’re a party of 6 that it’s a 3/4 person tub. Plenty big enough for us, but would be very snug for 6. Overall the lodge worked really well for us, and despite never fully working out the temperature to cool the bathrooms a little; the velux windows throughout upstairs made it easy to regulate.

My husband and myself had a seasonal caravan here for 15 years, and due to ill health we had to leave in 2013/2014. Just when the lodges were going up in Kieron and Lisa's early days. It was great excitement for us all. Alan and I practically lives here in the summer and have many happy memories here with ours 3 grandchildren.

  • "Comfortable, clean, spacious and well equipped lodge in beautiful, peaceful surroundings."

Plenty of room for our family of three. We loved the mezzanine level with comfortable bed and modern ensuite. The other bedrooms were a good size and the family bathroom with the free standing bath was lovely. The hot tub is a great edition and we managed to use it every day even though the weather wasn't brilliant. Although the wooden decking outside and on the doorstep gets very slippy in the rain. We struggled with the television at first and there is a lack of plug sockets in the living area. The kettle could also do with a descale. Great location for exploring Whitby and the surrounding area. Highly recommended the witching post inn for a Sunday lunch! Overall a brilliant place for a quiet and relaxing break. • "Nice Place Ladycross Plantation Caravan Park is lovely, we enjoyed many walks and enjoyed seeing the wildlife."

The park is clean, tidy and quiet. The lodge is lovely and overall we enjoyed our stay. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. Although the hot tub is relaxing, we had to bring our own towels (which is unusual) and there was no where to hang them up whilst in the hot tub. The decking was slippy in places, because no sunshine managed to dry the decking because of the trees coverage.

The upstairs bedroom the only plug socket I could see that was free was located in a awkward spot, could not dry my hair there. (Unless I missed one.) One more gripe, the owners had no control over this. Every time we went to use the hot tub we was attacked by flies making it impossible to use it, we eventually went and bought a fly catcher. A little goodie bag was left for us at the beginning of our stay, nice touch. Overall nice place to stay.

We were very pleased to find that the photos matched the reality and we had a lovely week's stay. The park is well situated for travelling to nearby attractions, such as Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough and Dalby Forest, but far enough away to feel a sense of peace and quiet. A few finishing touches might improve the lodge further (toilet roll holders would be handy and a blind for the front door - the children were a little scared to get up for the toilet in the night), but these are very small things. Thank you for our holiday, I have a feeling we will be back.

Our only criticism is the early check out time. It feels very rushed having to get a family of four out by 10am and it makes the end of the holiday a little stressful. Even if this was extended to 10.30am, it would be helpful. Otherwise, this is one of our favourite places.

We were pleasantly surprised at how modern and clean everything was. It also was a great touch having a cupboard with lots of kids toys and books, our two toddlers certainly enjoyed it. My only slight downside is the very late check in time and early check out. • "Overall the lodge was amazing and provided us with a lovely break away with the family."

Couple of negatives, the springs in the mattress on the mezzanine bed were broken and it slopped downwards making it quite uncomfortable and we couldn’t get the heated towel rail in the ensuite on the mezzanine to work. The lodge is fully stocked with cutlery, crockery etc. but that doesn’t leave any space in the kitchen cupboards to put the food we took with us so had to stack it up on the breakfast bar, hence leaving very little workspace. These were little issues which would not stop us from going back again if the price was right, we’ve looked for summer 2021 and prices are really expensive though.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Bracken Howe and that you have since decided to book a return visit. Thank you so much for alerting us to the problem with the bed. It was a broken slat in the bed itself. Both King Size beds and mattresses have been replaced with new ones. The cupboard with rotating shelves is intended for guests to store their food provisions and is usually left empty for this purpose. Everything else will fit into the other kitchen cupboards and drawers. The heated towel rails are fully functioning. Information about our stay (e.g. check in and check out process, things to do) was sent out in advance and the site itself was very quick to respond to a direct question I asked them about whether you can get online groceries delivered to the site (you can by the way - you just need to meet the delivery van in the car par by the site entrance). The Ladycross site was very pleasant. It's nice and quiet and there is plenty of woodland in which you're free to roam. Bracken Howe Lodge was also lovely. It can be easy to quibble about lots of little things when writing reviews like this (e.g. it would have been nice if they'd provided this or that), but I don't think it's ever possible for the owners to think of every little thing to include in the lodge or to cater for absolutely everybody's tastes - all I can say is that overall both me and my family thought that this property was really good and we would recommend it.

  • "My husband and I chose to Bracken Howe Lodge for our honeymoon as I don't like flying."

It was as stunning as the brochure showed. We were extremely pleased with everything about the lodge, the owners have certainly thought of everything from the welcome pack right down to wash powder which really puts the icing on the cake. We loved our time in the hot tub it was very rewarding after days out walking. Feeding the wildlife was certainly a bonus. An absolutely stunning lodge and we will definitely be bringing the family back.

  • "We had a great New Year break in the lodge."

We have to say that the welcome and overall service we experienced is one of the best we have had. The lodge was perfect and enjoyed by all the family. The Toy cupboard was a dream for our two children (age 4 and 5) and everything was very well played with and investigated! It was great to welcome in 2016 in the hot tub with a bottle of bubbly! Thank you especially for prompt assistance when required - very much appreciated. We hope to stay with you again in the future. xxxx P.S. the welcome pack was such a nice touch!

  • "We had a great stay!"

Gorgeous lodge (we want to live here). Really loved the hot tub, especially with snow and ice on the deck. Thank you for the welcome pack as we came in. My brother and I loved the cupboard of toys and went in there a lot for all the wonderful toys. We put some food and seed for the birds and my Granny and Grandad loved to watch them flying around the lodge, you could see the birds from the hot tub too. Thanks again, hope to come back soon (very soon).

  • "June 2015 We've just spent a fabulous week at Bracken Howe Lodge - what a magnificent property."

Languishing in the hot tub was so relaxing - a proper de-stress from our busy jobs. We decided to put wild bird food out each day and were treated to an entertaining ritual on the bird feeders every morning. Also, we saw tree creepers, a golden pheasant and a gold crest! This is in addition to the blue, coal and great tits, robins, jays and chaffinches. We feel so refreshed that we'd like to revisit next year.

  • "June 2015 What a fantastic find!"

A wonderful lodge with breath-taking surroundings - absolutely beautiful - especially whilst sat in the hot tub relaxing with a wine! The lodge is lovely and spacious, exceptionally clean and well-equipped. Our baby (15 months) absolutely loved the toy cupboard spending most of her time there! We've had such a fantastic weekend in Bracken Howe Lodge; everything has exceeded our expectations and we definitely will be returning and also recommending this park to our family and friends. Thank you very, very much!

  • "6th – 13th October 2014 What a find, a fabulous property."

This really exceeded our expectations - beautifully furnishes and equipped. The hot tub was well used - morning, noon and night. If it's missing when the next guests arrive, you'll find it at one of these addresses! We suggest guests fill the bird feeders as you'll be entertained every morning with an array of birds. We travelled around quite a bit during the week as this is an ideal base for reaching different places. The couple managing the reception were very friendly and helpful. We will sure to be back.

  • "This was our first visit to this part of the country; the setting of this accommodation is peaceful and tranquil, The interior decor was certainly to our liking and exceeded our expectations."

The extras such as liquid soap, cleaning products and complimentary basket were very much appreciated. When we relaxed in the hot tub my teenage children insisted this was a 'must have' at home - definitely the icing on the cake! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends.
