  • "The house was perfect for us."

We were a family of 2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 young boys and 2 young girls, therefore, the room configuration was perfect. The adults having ensuite bathrooms was great. Harbour house is in a perfect position for the town, shops and beaches, which were all within walking distance. Overall we had a great holiday and would readily recommend Harbour House and Sykes Holiday cottages.

  • "Property not as clean as could be, underwear left in more than one drawer, shower head broken in main bathroom, back yard too dirty to use could do with a good clean."

  • "The property was lovely and exactly as described."

It was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. The location is fantastic, perfect for walking into Whitby and in such close proximity to everything that you need. If I was being really pedantic I would say that they could maybe have provided more toilet rolls and there were no replacement bin bags in the kitchen but that's it. It's a lovely house, fantastically comfortable and perfect for a family stay.

  • "Lovely house in a great location for exploring Whitby!"

8 adults & 2 babies stayed in the property for the weekend and it was perfect for what we needed. Very clean, spacious and welcoming home. We had a minor issue with one of the beds but this was dealt with and fixed by the owners within an hour of us notifying them which was amazing!! We will visit again & definitely recommend - thanks!

  • "A lovely house, great location - warm, well furnished and very comfortable beds."

Parking worked fine in the car park despite it being a busy half term week. Lots of lovely cafes and restaurants locally, we especially recommend the Rusty Shears close by for lunch or their bistro evenings. We had a few issues with tradesmen wanting access unannounced and other people in the locality knocking to get us to open the back alleyway up but I think these were pretty isolated incidents and unlikely to happen again! The office was helpful trying to sort them out and it didn’t detract from our stay. Highly recommend this property especially for an extended family like ours.

  • "Lovely house in the with all your comforts… spent a week there and with 5 others and it was lovely and spacious with plenty of room for 8 people."

The kitchen wasn’t very big but we made it work. Very close to the main centre of town and very close to the beach. The only downside I can say is it took us about 2 days to figure out how to use the microwave and when we tried to use the TV mid week all we was getting was no signal (but I know there was recently a fire at the main transmitter so we just put it down to that) The cleaning downstairs also wasn’t really great as crisps were found between the cushions of the sofa and dust in the lounge. Saying this the upstairs was very clean and the beds were VERY comfy. We would stay here again.

  • "Comfortable houses in an ideal and quiet location, within a few minutes walk of shops and 5-10 mins from harbour."

Expensive pay and display parking on the door step and only 5 mins walk to the West Cliff car park for which a free ticket is provided. Street-side parking vouchers also available for a second car, but you may have to drive round to find a space. Rooms are all a good size although the kitchen is best left to one person as it's quite narrow. If you want to cook at home, suggest bringing your own sharp knives as those in the property are rather blunt. Comfortable beds and wonderfully powerful showers. Would go back !

  • "The cottage and location were very good."

Parking in the area around the cottage was quite tricky but we were in an unusually busy time. What did let the property down was the kitchen. Some of the pans were not clean, we only managed to get the microwave to work once and there was no instructions for it. There were wheels missing on the dishwasher bottom drawer which made it very difficult to pull out. When the dishwasher or oven was open it meant no one could get in the kitchen and all the glasses including the wine and Prosecco glasses were kept in drawer so if the drawer was half empty and opened it was very difficult to not break the glasses. The rest of the house was lovely and we had a very enjoyable stay.

  • "Neighbours made our stay disappointing - as they asked our child to stay still."

Given we have a toddler that's not possible so perhaps you have to say no children allowed with stays. Also the bathroom pipes leaked which wasn't your fault but water went through the ceiling and caused quite a bit of concern / we had to stay in for plumber and one time we didn't they let themselves in - when all our things are in the house that shouldn't have been allowed. The house itself is fine but the dishwasher had a very bad smell and didn't clean things so we washed all in sink. And the house wasn't totally cleaned to a high standard. It worked as a base but the price was astronomical in return for what we got. We paid well over £2k

  • "Lovely place with lots of facilities."

Really really comfortable and spacious living ! The kitchen was small for the amount of people it has in the property but functional except for the microwave, way too hard to understand even with the instructions. The outdoor space was disappointing but thank you for trying. The property needs a few simple things to make it a little bit more special. These things were mentioned in the visitors book several times over a period of time but have obviously not been acted on. They are, Coat hooks in the hall. Shoe racks in the hall More serving spoons There is also confusion about the bins .... even though it says in the instructions there are green and blue bins in the alleyway we could not find any . I did call the office to come and clear the rubbish and a lovely lady came but only once . A lovely place overall though.

It provides a marvellous base from which to explore historic Whitby and the splendours of North Yorkshire’s moors and coastline. The entrance hall leads to a relaxing sitting room with smart wooden floors, comfortable seating and a wood burning stove, which is supremely cosy in the cooler months.

In the dining room, eight guests can easily sit down together at the dining table for an evening meal or leisurely breakfast – the décor is fresh, but with a rustic feel and a large window ensures plenty of natural light. On to the gleaming galley kitchen, with its sparkling red granite work surfaces and quality appliances – there’s everything here that will keep holiday life running smoothly, including a washing machine and dryer in the under stairs cupboard.

This floor boasts a spacious king-size double bedroom and en-suite shower room with shower, basin and WC, plus built in wardrobe.

There is also a twin bedroom, with full size 3’ single beds.

Both rooms are tastefully decorated, with quality soft furnishings for added luxury. The second floor has another king-size double bedroom and a second twin bedroom.

If you love a relaxing bath, then prepare to be wowed by the second floor travertine tiled bathroom with fantastic plunge bath (styled on the Japanese-style deep soaking baths) – what could be nicer after a sandy day at the beach than a luxurious bubble bath? Outside, there is a lovely enclosed rear courtyard garden with stylish rattan furniture.

Pull up a chair beside your loved ones, chat, breathe in the fresh sea air and enjoy your favourite pre-dinner tipple together – perfect! Located in the West Cliff area of Whitby, close to the famous ‘whale bones’, the property is a short walk from Whitby’s bustling waterfront with its lovely array of restaurants, bars and shops.

Watch the boats come and go, or pop into the RNLI Museum to see the lifeboat.

The Captain Cook Memorial Museum gives an insight into the life of Whitby’s famous seafaring son.

Or become an adventurer yourself and take a pleasure trip out from the harbour. Inland, the North York Moors beckon and if you happen to be visiting in August and early September you are in for a real treat: swathes of purple blooming heather.

The heritage steam locomotive from Whitby is an idyllic way to take in these wonderful landscapes. Harbour View is a popular choice with guests who love to have everything on their doorstep and a little luxury whilst on holiday.
