  • "We have just returned from 5 nights at Midships in Whitby."

    It's a lovely, cosy cottage with a well equipped kitchen. There was a lovely basket of goodies waiting for us. It was so warm and cosy, except the loft had an issue with the radiator by a quick message to the owner, and it was quickly sorted. The location was fab, one row back from the quayside. My only issue was the view, the cottage overlooks the backs of the shops infront, so you are looking at a wall. However, there's not much you can do about that! I'd say it's not suitable for those with mobility issues due to the steep spiral stairs, but we loved it.

  • "This is a high quality property with an extremely well stocked kitchen."

    No expense has been spared was pleasantly surprised. The welcome basket was a nice touch. Parking was easy enough, unload in unloading bay and found a space in parking zone.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Midships; so well equipped and a wonderful welcome pack was there on our arrival."

    Unloading was easy from the drop off point near Harry's bar and so was the parking with the scratch cards provided. The cottage is very well situated, very clean, warm, cosy and full of character. Thank you for a great week.

  • "Very lovely cottage and well kept."

    Little extras a lovely touch but no logs available for the fire.

  • "Could not recommend the cottage highly enough."

    The owner was more than helpful and the cottage itself was beautiful and extremely clean ( by far the cleanest we have stayed in). Facilities were of top quality and the hamper was amazing. Location is perfect, close enough to all Whitby has to offer but in an area that is quiet of an evening. Will definitely be booking to stay again. The only minor negative to mention was a slight issue with the letting agent but soon resolved with the help of the owner.

  • "We had a lovely 10 night holiday at this cottage."

    The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. There was a lovely welcome pack when we arrived. The location of the cottage is great it is in the centre of Whitby, a short walk to pubs, cafés and the harbour. It was nice to have an outside space to sit out in. The cottage doesn't have parking outside, but we always found a place to park a few minutes walk away and used the parking permit. We stopped in the loading space on Pier Road to drop off our luggage.

  • "Good directions to location."

    Disapointed no welcome pack, emptying the dish washer(thought housekeeping would jave done this, no toilet paper, no rubbish bin liners in bin but bin very wet with something at bottom, no instructions about where to put refuse) poor housekeeping. Beds very comfortable and linen good and clean. Interesting heating system, coming on at night, althougj nice to have towel rail for drying shower towels. Would rate maintenance higher but! as above. As we should have been in Greece fed up about housekeeping. Enjoyed area and will visit again but not sure return to Midships. Will be interested in response.

Refurbished to a high standard and incorporating the 21st century technology without losing the charm and character of this 400-year-old cottage, Midships welcomes four guests to enjoy a memorable escape to a lovely area in Yorkshire.Be welcomed to this 400-year-old property, following a narrow road to the property and entering into a delightful living/dining room boasting history and heritage through the exposed brick walls and wooden roof beams.

Here you can settle down in the tasteful sitting area and warm your feet beside the woodburning stove as you plan the day ahead of you or enjoy a hearty meal in this charming space.

The kitchen is outfitted with a selection of amenities to cater to your culinary needs and allows guests to cook together using local produce.

There are two well-presented bedrooms throughout this property, serviced by a bathroom where guests can enjoy a soak in the tub or a refreshing shower.

Choose between a tasteful king-size and an attic twin room.

Outside there is a rear enclosed courtyard ideal for a tipple in the sunshine as you reflect on your adventures.
