  • "Our stay was fab."

The apartment was close to town centre and with a dedicated car parking space. We have a Hyundai I20 and this size of car was okay. Our only issue was, the marking on the floor could have been repainted. And on the Sykes description should have mentioned you must put a display on your windscreen to show your vehicle registration and mobile number. We only discovered the next morning that this was a requirement. Good job because the Traffic Wardens are ruthless. The views from the apartment were spectacular. We would pull up the rocking chair, open the window and enjoy the views towards Sandsend. We received a welcome bag of goodies. John the owner was very helpful. The apartment was spotless, plenty of storage space in each bedroom and the beds were very comfortable. Loved our time there would highly recommend it.

  • "I agree with the other rave reviews."

What a wonderful place. I felt I was in a Regency novel and wondered when visitors might leave their calling cards. The views from the large lounge room windows allowed me to enjoy the changing weather patterns and tides without getting wet. The bathroom might be a problem if there were 5 people who would need to coordinate their "ablutions." The welcome pack of chocolate biscuits was sparse in comparison with other Sykes cottages and there was no tea towel or hand towel but it was an outstanding place for location and space.

Thanks for your very positive feedback and your disappointment with the lack of hand towel , tea towel and sparse biscuits. We will take these shortfalls up with the cleaners as all should not be any cause for disappointment… Property Owner

  • "A beautiful apartment with lovely views."

Very well equipped & lovely comfortable beds. Great to have a parking space & although a little tight it wasn’t an issue. Had our little grandson with us so nice to be close to the crazy golf & Pannet Park which has a great children’s playground but still within easy walking distance to the shops & restaurants & the old town. Would definitely recommend Sandsend View, super apartment

  • "If you’re thinking of staying here then don’t hesitate to book."

The pictures do not do this place justice! The rooms are very tastefully decorated to a high standard and everything is as comfortable as can be. Our family of four adults and two children ( three and four months) shared the space without any problems and we all slept very well in the very comfortable beds. The view from the living room and small bedroom are spectacular and we found ourselves sitting watching out of the bay and green when not out and about. We loved the location with the green opposite and the beach just across the road. There were plenty of cafes, bakeries and restaurants within a few minutes walk and a playground near the museum about five minutes away. The outdoor pool and mini golf are in sight when looking out the window along with the spectacular view across the bay.

Thanks for your great feedback that shows why we love going to this fabulous flat from which to enjoy all of Whitby’s attractions… Property Owner

  • "The flat was ideally located, nice views from the lounge, well equipped and very clean, beds were comfy."

WiFi managed to stream films ok for us. Other reviewers mentioned the parking space, it is tight be we have a Zafira Tourer and managed it fine. It that’s an issue though then between end of Oct and end of Feb there is free parking on the promenade. Would happily book another stay there.

  • "Having just spent a week at this spacious victorian flat on the Royal Crescent in Whitby, we struggle to understand some of the earlier reviews."

The level of comfort, cleanliness and equipment provided exceeded our expectation, as did the magnificent view from the first floor lounge window across the bay to Sandsend. Easy walking access to the town centre was a bonus and an 'off road' private parking space (albeit not overly generous) so close to town is, in our experience, a rarity. We thoroughly enjoyed all the facilities on offer on the West Cliff (in particular Pizza West which is amazing!) and will definitely be returning to this beautiful flat.

  • "Sandsend Sunset View Well positioned and good views."

Parking at the rear extremely "tight" in a corner adjacent to two brick walls and a bank of 6-8 large refuse bins in front of the space. From the rear door from the parking area, it is 3 flights of stairs up to the apartment. We were booked for 2 weeks with no change of linen for the 2nd week, I messaged the owner to say that there was no Superking in the cupboard and he organised for the cleaner to drop a set off. For the first 5 days the front door the to the main building was not lockable which was a bit disconcerting, then a workman fitted a new lock and code. As instructed, we left the apartment key in the key safe for the cleaner to drop off the clean linen/ towels and collect the used ones. We returned to find the fresh linen simply dropped in a pile on floor of the main communal stairway not even in a bag! Which was totally un-hygienic. The cleaner had not made any attempt to enter the apartment to deliver the linen and consequently had left the damp towels and used linen which we had left in a bag on the inside by the door. We had expected a mid-fortnight clean. Wi-Fi is not good enough to watch any catch up tv or films, the screen froze every 1-2 minutes. When we arrived the kitchen drawer front was hanging off and the knobs had come off the door to the freezer housing (someone had balanced them on the screws). To open the freezer door, we had to open the fridge and open the freezer from its side. I took photos and sent them with a message to the owner as soon as we arrived. He said he'd repair them at the end of the month. Also, the landing stair light flashes on/off continuously throughout the night and shines through the roughly painted glass window above the apartment door which is like sleeping in a lighthouse. This would easily be remedied by fitting hardboard over the glass. We felt uncomfortable having to keep contacting the owner as he was on holiday in Greece. All in all, great views but the accommodation was very disappointing.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry your stay was spoiled despite my best efforts to supply fresh bedding mid-stay (having offered a full changeover freshening, which was declined). The newly appointed cleaning company policy is that they will not enter a property when visitors are in residence without them there for holiday maker security reasons, hence clean linen left outside the door - to be paper wrapped in future. The kitchen drawer and knobs have been fixed and fettled so this issue will not reoccur. Similarly, the stairwell glass has been painted over to address the light issue and a new higher capacity internet router has been installed. We hope you had a lovely holiday otherwise. • "The views were excellent but the cleanliness wasn’t very good."

There was a lot of dust in the rooms, especially around the rubbish bins. The bathroom could be awkward for any disabled person as could the stairs leading up to the front door of the apartment. All in all, a reasonable place to visit for a short time.

Sorry that the new premium wool carpets were still settling in, shedding the fluff mentioned - this has been addressed by regular hoovering so should no longer be an issue. The flat access from the front of the property has fewer steps and has a wide and imposing stairwell - however, as it is on the first floor, mobility impaired access is limited. Lastly shower/bath step-over access has been improved with a wall mounted assistance handle. Property Owner

  • "Apartment was excellent both in comfort and location within Whitby."

Only problem was the 40 steps up to the apartment from the parking place. It is on the first floor, but the parking space is in the basement area. My wife had great difficulty getting up them, but we did manage, just. Outside stair light constantly going on and off 24/7, which was annoying while sleeping. We recomend the apartment highly, but mobility problems with access.

The access from the front is recommended for any mobility impaired visitors, as this involves 26 steps up from the road to the first floor via the wide Hallway and main staircase. From the basement level parking there are 36 steps. Believe me the view is well worth it! The stairway light visibility in the flat hallway has also been resolved. Property Owner
