The cottage is so well equipped and comfortable, and in a beautiful location.so close to YORK the christmas market was fabulous. The only downside to the break is that we had to come home,we will definately be back again for our third time .

  • "Great simple accommodation which suited our needs (family of 4) and had all we needed with kitchen equipped enough for us."

Cake on arrival too which was nice! Heating was quirky.....electric panel heaters coming on and off when they felt like it (one bedroom set at 20deg would be fine and warm, while the other bedroom, set at 26 degrees didn't seem to want to stay on at all so room was cold). Just wish we had more time there. We will be returning. Good quiet location (while we were there) with easy access to woodland walks but also not far to go for an outlet shopping mall (with park and ride) and the city. Not sure how quiet it would be if busy with campers / golfers etc as well but very quiet while we were there.

Spacious bathroom with perfect heating. The cottage was really spacious for 4. The surroundings are lovely with great walks for the dog. The only missing point was the fact there was not dishwasher, we knew but we are getting used to have this as a standard. Very friendly owner. Perfect base to visit York and it’s surroundings

  • "Very pleasant cottage in quiet location with good outlook & excellent amenities around, particularly the nearby woods for dog walking, but also well sited for touring the area."

York Park & Ride 5mins away. Cottage is very well appointed with good quality furnishings only slight criticism was the comfort of the double bed, perhaps because I do not like beds with a footboard, being tall. Owners very helpful & obliging. All in all we had a very enjoyable stay here with daughter & son in law.

  • "Really enjoyed our stay."

The cottage was much nicer than the pictures suggest. Clean. Warm. Comfy sofas. Comfy beds. Had all the amenities we needed. The area is lovely and quiet. Easy to park outside. The description failed to mention that the golf course clubhouse on site offers a Sunday carvery which was a pleasant surprise! There is a pub in nearby Wheldrake that serves food (5 minutes by car). The park and ride for York is just 5 minutes away too so it was perfect for York sightseeing. A great short stay, the girls loved it so much they want to go back and we most likely will in the future.

  • "The cottage had everything you could ask for when you book a week away celebrating our Pearl Wedding Anniversary, to relax, catch up with friends and play a game of two of golf."

The welcoming pack was a lovely idea, as was everything else made available to us during our stay. a big thank you to Melissa and her family they all made you feel so welcome. The cottage totally exceeded our expectations, really nice furniture and fittings and lovely and warm inside as the weather for our week was dry and sunny it was still very cold outside. we spent hours watching the family of squirrels leaping from branch to branch along the trees in front of the cottage as well as all the little robins, wrens, and doves feeding from the bird stand. The pictures of the cottage do not do it justice as the views across the golf course first thing in the morning when everything is covered with the early morning mist and then late in the evening when the winter sun was setting the scene's were purely idyllic. The city of York is only a short distance away as is the designer centre and Monks cross all great places for shopping. We will definitely be returning and hope to get in a few more rounds of golf than we did.

It is really a home from home with very nice furniture and fittings. We stayed over Christmas and the owners had decorated the house with a Christmas tree and silver sparkly reindeers! Essentials like tea and coffee etc had been left for our use. All really super. The place is very quiet and great for access to York. Park and ride is only 5/10 mins away at the Designer Centre. We would definitely stay there again. The only extra things we would have liked would be a dishwasher and a larger fridge. Otherwise really fab!

  • "Unfortunately the property wasn’t as clean as I’d like."

Ants in the entrance porch. I bought some products and dealt with that. And lots of cobwebs in the bathroom, especially around the loft hatch. The WiFi didn’t work. Although I managed to connect to the router it kept saying no internet available. It says in the key collection to contact the owner to collect. I rang both numbers 4 times, but no answer. Other than that it was lovely. Fantastic location and beautiful views. Very easy to find and good information in the cottage booklet.

The accommodation was as advertised - spacious, clean, well furnished, warm and generally well equipped. The kitchen could have been better equipped in relation to cooking utensils but it in no way spoiled the holiday. The property appeared to be brand new and was immaculately presented both inside and out. All the fixtures and fittings were all 'high end' and much better than those normally found in rental properties. All rooms were very large and there was ample storage space for our needs. The Granary is in a very quite location but is only a 10 minute drive to the centre of York and just 5 minutes to the Mcarthur Glen outlet village where you can 'Park and Ride' into York. Bedside table in the twin room would have been helpful. There was a lamp, but it sat on the window ledge, and was therefore behind the curtain at night. It would have been helpful to have a draining rack at the kitchen sink. The postcode took one to the Farm, rather than showing that the house was adjacent to the golf club - this could be clarified on the website. It would help to give the Ordnance Survey grid reference, as this is more precise. A a general comment, with USB charging being so necessary, it might be sensible to encourage cottage owners to fit sockets that have USB charging included.
