Charlotte House

Really great property - well located in central Whitby, with lots of bedroom space and a lovely living / dining room.

The kitchen is small, but was sufficient to cook breakfasts. The heating was lovely and warm, with the dog blankets to protect the sofas a really nice touch. We also enjoyed the welcome hamper! Our only feedback would be for a few extra toilet rolls and hand soap to be provided in all the bathrooms.

The house has been renovated with love and care, it is in a great position in Whitby.

Very comfortable large bed, but maybe some blinds in the bedroom to keep the light out and an extra bedside table and lamp would make it perfect. We put a chair near the deep step to the kitchen to remind us it was there, I think a small balustrade would be a good idea to save mid haps.

Very clean throughout, comfortable beds, well equipped home from home. Walking distance to most attractions. We were left a kind welcome gift of some yummy biscuits also a little bag for our fur baby. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Charlotte House.

Great location and easy for loading / unloading. Thank you for the welcome pack and a very comfortable stay - the shower is fabulous! Our only negatives were the kitchen bin needs replacing as the lid was hanging off on our arrival and an oven glove would have been really useful. I would highly recommend this property if you are staying in Whitby.

A lovely homely house right in the heart of Whitby.

The house has been decorated to a great standard, is was always warm and inviting and feels like a home from home. The roll-top bath was lovely to unwind in after a long day walking. The welcome pack full of biscuits was a lovely touch. Parking on the nearby streets isn’t too bad as long as you are happy to park a street or two away once in a while. We would defiantly stay here again. A small tip for anyone visiting would be to bring slippers to avoid the occasional floorboard nail snagging socks and toes.

Charlotte House is located in the West Cliff area of Whitby, making it ideal for visiting the many attractions that the town has to offer, be it beach, coastal path, moors or other town attractions.

We must thank the owners for their generosity. When we originally booked the cottage, we believed that we had booked Saturday to Saturday,. Unfortunately, when we arrived to enjoy our stay on the Saturday afternoon, we discovered that we had in fact, booked Friday to Friday. Thankfully, the very kind owners allowed us to stay for the full week at no extra cost to us, a most generous concession in their part. We will definitely book Charlotte House again in the future and would recommend it highly.

Charlotte House is beautiful, everything you need for a self catering stay.

The bedroom are lovely, beds are all comfortable.. It's situated in the perfect place to reach all Whitby has to offer, we loved it. Can't wait to rebook for next year.

Lovely cottage could do with some improvements, uncomfortable mattresses/ pillows, door knob in bedroom falls off, toilet has a dodgey flush button, twin beds very creaky, nails sticking out of the floor.

Little details would also be nice such as sachets of sauces or salt & pepper as was none. A lovely cottage in a great location just needs a few touches.

We loved Charlotte House.

It was comfortable and well-equipped for our family of four and our labrador.

Overall the property was very good.

Only gripe was in the bedroom with single beds the ceiling had a few cobwebs but not a huge issue. Coat hangers provided were very flimsy and some were broken again not a huge issue as took our own. The games left at the property were a hit. The house was more than adequate for our stay although parking was a pain but having parking permits helped when we actually got them. House is quite central to town but be warned there are a few hills to contend with.

We had a lovely holiday, 2 adults and 2 dogs.

The house had everything we needed and the sofas and beds were comfy. The owners provide you with a parking permit for the main car park which was very easy especially as we came in our EV and the car park had EV chargers. The weather was also very sunny which made for a very enjoyable stay. Would recommend staying here.

A lovely period house in Whitby .

It’s well furnished, comfortable warm and well equipped. This was our second stay at Charlotte House and we thoroughly enjoyed it , even though the weather wasn’t brilliant. It’s nicely located , close to the West Cliff for the beach and a short walk down to the harbour. I always look forward to seeing what is in the Welcome packs and there was a nice selection of goodies from Bothams - which is just around the corner. It’s a dog friendly cottage and ours made themselves at home , one particularly enjoyed barking at all the passers by ! The beds are comfortable and 2 nice bathrooms , one of which has a lovely roll top bath . Parking permits are provided for on street and the West Cliff car park .We will definitely be returning for another stay .

A great house in the heart of Whitby and we loved the sympathetic renovation!

It had everything we needed plus loads of character. Our favourite rooms were those at the top of the house and we thoroughly enjoyed our candlelight soaks in the bath after busy days on the beach and walking up to Sandsend. We felt our dog was really welcome too. One question- what happened to the welcome pack? We've never stayed anywhere where there wasn't one provided.

Lovely property in great location.

Lots of space for 4 adults and 2 children. Could get another bed in the top floor bathroom! Hot water is extremely hot, would suggest its turned down if possible. Highly recommended.

The top bedroom could benefit from blinds or curtains and the smaller bedroom would benefit from a table lamp for reading, but was a great stay otherwise.

A lovely cottage with excellent facilities including good quality bedding and towels.

Great location within easy reach of both shops and West Cliff. We would definitely recommend and we will hopefully return.

Beautiful property in a great location for access to the town and sea front.

Very tastefully decorated and we soon got used to the quirks of the steps and stairs. (A challenge after bungalow living!!) We had perfect weather which enhanced our time in Whitby itself and on our trips out and about. It was great to find the dog was really provided for too and he’s also had a wonderful active holiday.

Personally felt cold in the house but couldn’t turn the heating up

Hi, a beautifully spacious and characterful place in a great location for sure - the only negative aspect was the lack of proper curtains/blinds in the second floor bedroom.

The dawn sunlight had me waking up every morning around 5-5.30am and so was an unwelcome disruption to any restful night’s sleep (I alone was in that top bedroom). Other than that - fantastic!

We had a fantastic holiday and the house was beautiful.

Everything was well presented, the house was warm, cosy and of a high quality.

This was a real gem of a house, with everything that makes it perfectly imperfect, a home and not a holiday let.

We (family of four, the dog and the visiting godmother) had a fab week - superbly cosy and the central heating meant we didn’t even use the woodburner

Lovely house, very well presented with all you could ask for, would highly recommend a stay.

Heating operating 24-7 therefore always cosy although set around 20 degrees, fine for us as not liking it too hot, there is always the back up of the log burner for a cosy evening.Beautiful walk in shower with plenty of hot water that never ran out. The only criticism is you should have 2 keys available, my wife was I’ll during our stay and I either had to lock her in when going out or leave her in bed with the door unlocked. The door has only one deadlock and no other means of escaping from the building in an emergency, the small courtyard is bolted shut to outside, apart from this comment a wonderful holiday let.

There was a problem with the central heating which was reported to Sykes during our stay. As the weather was mild it wasn’t a problem however had it been colder then there would have been an issue. First floor bathroom has a lovely large shower but no grab rail and/or non slip mat. Sykes customer service was excellent.
