  • "Lovely weekend spent at a lovely cottage !"

My children loved the attic bedroom, the garden room and the garden especially. we all had a fantastic night's sleep in the very comfy beds. We walked to the pleasure boats at Ruswarp one day down the Railway track and enjoyed fish and chips in Whitby. The facilities at the cottage are great and the welcome pack was a really nice touch. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will recommend ! The Peacocks

  • "Beautiful cottage, perfectly suited our family of 5, the younger kids loved the attic bedroom and our eldest daughter had a room to herself."

The garden was beautiful with plenty to explore for the kids. Ideal location, 10 minute walk to the town centre. Unfortunate leak in the bathroom causing a slight constant drip into the living room but this didn't spoil our enjoyment of the property.

  • "We have enjoyed a fantastic week's holiday in this spacious and characterful cottage."

We made full use of the offroad parking and walked everyday from the property. We particularly enjoyed the walk to Sandsend along the Beach and the walk along the River Esk to Ruswarp. We have left you a new tin opener as the one in the house was past its best. We would definitely like to stay here again.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage."

The beds were really comfy and the location is great for getting around Whitby. Really like the sun room/conservatory as well. A couple of points, the locks in the bathrooms don't work very well, maybe these could be looked at? Kitchen starting to look a bit tired but overall we enjoyed our stay here. Would recommend it.

  • "Having read the last 3 reviews before our stay we were hoping that issues mentioned regarding the stained pillows and bedding would have been addressed."

Unfortunatley not, so wasnt impressed at all. We didnt use the very stained pillows and put them in a bag when we left for them to be dealt with. They needed binning as do the others on main bedroom as they look very yellow and unclean. The mattress also looks grimey . There was no mattress or pillow protectors on. and this is in my opinion a must. General cleanliness around property poor. Thick dust ontop of kitchen cupbpards which can be seen from the lounge area. Also dust and cobwebs generally all round especially on skirtings and around radiator in lounge. The property is lovely and we had a lovely week there but we wouldnt be booking again. The cottage requires a little TLC and would be perfect.

Thank you for your feedback. This has been raised I have with my property management team who have since replaced the pillows with new ones and fitted new protectors. I can only apologise for your experience. Property Owner

  • "Whilst comfortable and clean the general maintains VE and investment in the property was lacking."

Numerous small repair jobs and replacements needed. Kitchen in particular needs investment and pillows need replacing. We did report broken wardrobe and missing light bulbs which were dealt with immediately but there are many more jobs to be done. Disappointing as we have stayed there before

No high chair, had to wait 2 days. Cooker nothing working had to wait 3 days to get it fixed. Recorded letter sent to head office with the rest of complaints

  • "First of all it was hard to find Damson Cottage as there is nothing on the side of the cottage saying Damson Cottage."

There were stains on the kitchen floor when we arrived which indicated the floor had not been mopped. We found crumbs in one cupboard and had to clean the fridge as there were food particles stuck to the shelf. Some of the carpets were tired looking and when we stripped our beds at the end of our stay as requested we saw the pillows were stained and yellow in colour and the duvets had dirty stain marks on them. The double bedroom had a mattress shoved under the bed. When we booked the website said no pets were allowed. We received a general email the day before we left requesting that we made sure the dishwasher was unloaded at the end of our stay, the bins were emptied etc and if we had any four legged friends any mess was cleared up. Why say no pets and then say this? The only positive thing about Damson Cottage is the location and the parking space.
