A lovely welcome pack and comfy beds and beautiful bedding is always a bonus. Perfectly situated with parking and not to far to walk into town is a rare gem to find in the area. Would definitely return.

  • "What a wonderful weekend we have had at Damson Cottage."

Perfect location, comfy beds and everything we needed. We especially liked the sun room and spent a lot of time in there. Lovely walking into Whitby town and a lovely quiet area. The welcome pack was one of the best we have had and we stay in a lot of holiday cottages. We will definitely be recommending and wouldn't hesitate to back ourselves. Thank you.

Parking an advantage. Bedding nice and clean, comfortable beds. As for cottage very dusty in need of decorating and a good clean. Bathrooms need updating and very dirty and dusty. Some of the comments is the review book have not been addressed.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on your stay at Damson Cottage. I am glad you found the beds nice and clean and comfortable and took advantage of the parking. I have taken on board your comments and will address the issues raised. As you will appreciate it has been a busy summer and the properties can take a bit of a hammering during this busy time. Deep cleans and some decorating is scheduled to take place during the winter season along with some general maintenance. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is well maintained, very well located for the town centre."

Is in a residential part of the town with a chip shop and pub near by. Fully equiped kitchen was really nice to find as having to take utensals with you is a bind. The rear garden takes the sunshine all day but has a bit of a slope to it. As I work in a commercial cleaning environment I feel the cleaning could be better.

  • "Brilliant location and comfortable furnishings."

The cottage was very dusty in every room and the bathrooms are looking very tired. I left a note regarding the leak in the ceiling above the sofa. The bedding was excellent quality. Great to have a garden but it looks a little neglected, I would remove the tree and shrub to allow light into the garden room. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and most appreciated. I would recommend it to friends purely on the location and parking space.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We have had a look into the leak. The property is cleaned to a high standard and checked on a regular basis. The garden has had a lot of work done to it recently, and the tree has been cut right back. We are glad that you have enjoyed your stay and hope that you return soon. Property Owner

So we brought everything needed and the BBQ was absolutely filthy and unusable

I'm sorry your experience of Damson Cottage was let down by a dirty BBQ. Had it been brought to my attention at the time I could have done something about that for you. The BBQ has now been replaced with a brand new item and is now checked regularly for cleanliness. Sorry again for your experience. Regards, Jon (Cottage Owner) Property Owner

This was for our Pearl Wedding Anniversary few days away I’ve always wanted to see Whitby! We had an amazing time what a brilliant location within 5 mins walk of the harbour. The mattress is the most comfortable I’ve ever had to the point I’ve sourced and purchased one for home! This cottage is fabulous a little tired in places but overall to a good standard. Kitchen and little Orangery on the side really comfortable best kitchen sink I think ever!!! We will be back! I loved Whitby. Such a plus having the car parking space. Lovely Welcome back cottage smelt lovely too. Thank you for a wonderful few days .

  • "Having stayed at this cottage previously we knew it was in a very convenient position to Whitby centre, very comfortable beds and very unusually for Whitby."

, on site parking. The kitchen is well equipped and we particularly liked the addition of ‘Nadiya’ pans which were very good to use and easy to clean. The welcome pack full of Botham goodies was a very nice touch. There was a problem with the base kitchen unit to the right of the cooking range as it was hanging off it’s hinges but we fixed it back into the proper position. The area facing onto the rear garden we had enjoyed using before, a sort of conservatory, really needed it’s windows cleaning to appreciate the garden. Also a second shower somewhere in the property would be a great addition. However, all considered we had a lovely stay when we were able to enjoy good weather.

Could do with a walk in shower in the bath room. Slight issue with not being able to open the down stairs windows as we set the smoke alarm off with the toaster. The off street parking was very useful. The very friendly ginger cat was in the garden or under the van most of the time and made every effort to get in to the house.

Gas cooker a welcome change from halogen-electric. Comfortable beds and also really liked cozy back room and corner sofa. Not able to properly use garden as apple tree fell down! but didn't spoil our stay and Gardener kept us informed about what he was doing. Would have liked 2nd shower but again not a particular problem. Passers by do seem to think outside bin is for general use ie takeaway boxes and plastic beer and cider bottles. Not sure if typical. Overall a really nice welcoming cottage within easy walking distance of town centre and would recommend.

  • "Having read the last 3 reviews before our stay we were hoping that issues mentioned regarding the stained pillows and bedding would have been addressed."

Unfortunatley not, so wasnt impressed at all. We didnt use the very stained pillows and put them in a bag when we left for them to be dealt with. They needed binning as do the others on main bedroom as they look very yellow and unclean. The mattress also looks grimey . There was no mattress or pillow protectors on. and this is in my opinion a must. General cleanliness around property poor. Thick dust ontop of kitchen cupbpards which can be seen from the lounge area. Also dust and cobwebs generally all round especially on skirtings and around radiator in lounge. The property is lovely and we had a lovely week there but we wouldnt be booking again. The cottage requires a little TLC and would be perfect.

Thank you for your feedback. This has been raised I have with my property management team who have since replaced the pillows with new ones and fitted new protectors. I can only apologise for your experience. Property Owner

  • "First of all it was hard to find Damson Cottage as there is nothing on the side of the cottage saying Damson Cottage."

There were stains on the kitchen floor when we arrived which indicated the floor had not been mopped. We found crumbs in one cupboard and had to clean the fridge as there were food particles stuck to the shelf. Some of the carpets were tired looking and when we stripped our beds at the end of our stay as requested we saw the pillows were stained and yellow in colour and the duvets had dirty stain marks on them. The double bedroom had a mattress shoved under the bed. When we booked the website said no pets were allowed. We received a general email the day before we left requesting that we made sure the dishwasher was unloaded at the end of our stay, the bins were emptied etc and if we had any four legged friends any mess was cleared up. Why say no pets and then say this? The only positive thing about Damson Cottage is the location and the parking space.
