  • "My wife and I stayed at Dry Dock Cottage over the 2025 Christmas period."

    We found the property nothing short of delightful. Presented to an extremely high spec, the cottage was very clean, warm and comfortable. Everything functioned as described in the listing, clean towels and bed linen was provided. Only one slight niggle, the kitchen was quite dim, maybe a brighter ceiling light would be better. However, this did not impact on what was a most enjoyable stay. And haddock and chips from the fish and chip shop a few doors down the road was heavenly.

  • "Amazing location close to the town centre with unrestricted parking just outside."

    The cottage is so cosy, clean, well appointed and the owners were very helpful and flexible. This was an amazing place to stay.

  • "Had a fantastic holiday in Whitby at Dry Dock cottage."

    It's a fabulous cottage with everything you need. Our boys LOVED the massive TV! Alison (owner) was amazing! I thought the blind was broken as I couldn't open or close it (ahem! see below). A maintenance guy was there within an hour! It turns out I didn't pull hard enough! I was so embarrassed but Alison was lovely about it. The place was comfy and clean. It was perfect for us.   • "Sadly I didn't do a good investigation on what I was renting."

    Parking was difficult, there was too many stairs. If I was a lot younger and more agile I would have loved it. If you are fit and well you will thoroughly enjoy it, the location is fantastic once the car is parked you can forget it for your stay.

  • "The property was perfect, extremely well furnished and comfortable, its location was within a 5 minute walk to town."

    Best part of our stay was Alison the owner, incredibly attentive and cared about us as guests. Will definitely stay again on our next trip to whitby in the winter, thanks again.

  • "A lovely little cottage on the beautiful harbour of Whitby."

    Very well equipped and a comfortable stay. The kitchen is cute and small, but you are able to achieve what you need to do in there and the living room is lovely. The 2 bedrooms are decent sizes and the cottage was lovely and clean. Beds very comfortable and we were able to make it baby friendly! Will definitely recommend it to family and friends too. Allie was more than helpful on the lead up to the holiday and while we were there too - always on hand when needed. Thanks so much for the lovely stay.

  • "I’m not very good at reviews but I would like to say I look at reviews when it comes to looking for a rentals, and when I looked at this cottage I was a bit unsure, I went with my gut instinct,I arrived with my family I wash shocked, this cottage is absolutely loverly very clean a homely feeling , comfy beds,attention to detail,great location we will definitely be coming back ."

    The reviews that was put on before was from disrespectful people that we could all do without ,the owners are loverly I had forgotten my phone on day of departure and they was very helpful and come out of there way to help me thanks again Carl and family

    Thank you so much for such a glowing review, issues raised in previous reviews were as a result of a previous guest that had caused a lot of damage. Issues re parking etc are out of our hands as any frequent Whitby visitors will be aware of parking issues/restrictions and we do advertise the cottage with parking.   • "Good location nicely done out."

    Steep stairs and low beams in bedroom werent apparent in listing. No parking available opposite at any point during our stay. Cleanliness not great piles toast crumbs kitchen cupboards dog hairs sofa. No towels, even though supposed to be , - 2 hand towels for 3 people and we hadnt taken any as part of listing. On entering property toilet blocked ( no water in pan). Owners travelled 2.5 hrs to fix, not convenient for them or us. Wouldnt pay for 2 day rental again - a b&b or hotel (and with parking) would have been much better for our short holiday.

    Sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your stay at our cottage. Unfortunately there isn’t a lot we can do about the stairs and beams. The cottage is advertised as parking across the road on a first come first served basis. We pay for a cleaning contract which also provides towels, the towels were an oversight on their part and was rectified as soon as we were made aware, the issue with the toilet was also sorted immediately, it was just unfortunate we live a distance away, we did provide a complimentary bottle of bubbly by way of apology - we cannot comment on the pet hair since we do not allow pets in the cottage.   • "The cottage is still as nice as when we visited in May."

    Everything had been considered to make our stay enjoyable. The welcoming hamper on the kitchen table was appreciated and all contents used. The only thing we found to be missing was pans. There were two frying pans supplied, but no others.

  • "Steps uneven going into cottage, Anybody with disability would struggle."

    On website stated sitting room on first floor,We entered kitchen/diner,The kitchen is well equipped, Had a lovely mural on the wall (could do with another set of cups).stairs leading from kitchen to Sitting room/Bathroom where steep has throughout the cottage.The living room was well thought out,Lovely decor,Lighting,Fixtures,Great size Tv,Good connections on plug for usb devices,Great views of the harbour& swing bridge into Whitby (note the is noise from company across from Cottage).Walk in shower in bathroom is powerful,With toiletries included,Ideal fore our needs,Shower head needs a bit of attention,Has it does have leaks,Blinds do need to be shut all of the time due to not being a frosted window.Double bedroom good size,Plenty of storage,Nice pictures on canvas throughout property,Good size Tv,Blinds need to be shut most of day,Due to anybody might look in to bedroom,Can get hot at night,Seagulls do make a noise at night,Possibly have curtains over blinds has blinds can let a lot of light in,Twin bedroom plenty of storage,Very good views,Anybody who is small will be alright, anybody taller will have problems.We would Definitely comeback,It as a great location,The Cottage is very good throughout,It is one of best cottages in the Area in my opinion,When these few minor things have been ironed out it will be fantastic Cottage.

  • "Had a lovely stay."

    Perfect location as cottage is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Whitby. There is a bus stop outside if you want to visit further afield and not use your car.

  • "We found the holiday property extremely clean, with brand new everything."

    The owners were very helpful when we couldn't lock the door due to the sun shining on the door knob area all day, broadening it, and when I accidentally broke the plastic pull on the window blind. They also accepted the fact that the kettle tripped the switch in the consumer unit, and reimbersed me for a purchase of a new kettle.

Dry Dock Cottage is nestled in the heart of the seaside town of Whitby, overlooking the harbour and a short stroll to the closest beach, it is an ideal base for families or friends seeking a traditional Yorkshire getaway on the coast.

Stepping over the threshold, you will be welcomed into the contemporary kitchen/diner with plenty of amenities to indulge in a home-cooked meal, or to gather around the dining table to indulge in a local takeaway.

Heading upstairs, a living room invites you to curl up while watching your favourite programme on the TV, before heading up again to one of the two bedrooms; A double and a twin room, both boasting glorious, nautical decor carrying through the property's homestyle interior.

Start your day with a rinse in the walk-in shower, before heading outside onto the patio to enjoy your morning coffee while soaking in the fresh coastal air of North Yorkshire.
