Beautiful little house, in a quiet location, with a short walk into town, highly recommended.

We are already planning our next visit.

Hawthorn is a spacious, modern house in Whitby that is clean, comfortable, and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing stay.

Plenty of hot water, with an ample supply of towels. Having a private parking space directly outside the property was also a real bonus. It would have been nice to find a welcome tray and an information folder with up to date details about the property and local area. Even using the Cinder Track, the walk into Whitby took longer than the advertised 15 minutes. A dog friendly property, although the garden is not enclosed, so needs supervised when outside. Overall, Hawthorn is a great property in a quiet cul-de-sac and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely place very clean and quiet.

Not too far from town centre ideal base for days out. Definitely recommend fish cottage at sandsend. Hopefully will be back

We loved this property as it was in walking distance to town, we didn't manage to walk back as the hill was a bit much for Mum, so we got a taxi back which was only £5.

80 and there is a taxi rank in town. The house was very nice and clean and had everything we needed for our stay, there were 4 of us. Plenty of eaterys and pubs close by. We did the Red Hot ghost walk which was good fun.

A lovely quiet place.

Easy access to whitby with a short walk or bus (Middlesbrough bus is better but the Scarborough bus will drop of near the top of the hill)..get on the local buses and see the countryside in comfort. It would have been nice to have a pint of milk in the fridge.

We had a great New Years stay at the house, it had everthing we could need and was cosy and inviting - we even had a welcome card and bottle of Prossecco there on our arrival to see in the New Year!

Very well equipped. Set in a very quiet cul de sac. A 15 minute walk into town. Would definitely recommend this property.

The house was cosy and really well equipped. The location was perfect too, just a short walk from Whitby centre but tucked away enough to be nice and peaceful. We loved every minute and would definitely stay again!

Perfect Pet Friendly Property!

This was our 1st time at Hawthorn & it is by far the best self catering property we have stayed in as it offers clean, comfy & spacious accommodation throughout & is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac with off road parking, it is within easy reach of everything Whitby & this lovely part of North Yorkshire are well known for. We come annually to the area & hope Hawthorn is available for next year’s stay!!

We absolutely loved our stay here.

The house was clean, really spacious, and felt so comfortable – a real home away from home. Being just a 15-minute walk into Whitby was perfect, we didn’t need to use the car at all. Such a relaxing and convenient place to stay, we’d happily come back again, highly recommend.

Property was amazing and owner great.

However I was not impressed with how Sykes operates. Firstly there were far too many irrelevant emails about the holiday and when I needed to urgently contact Sykes they were very unhelpful & unavailable. I also found the attitude of the operative I spoke to at Sykes to be very poor & was not happy when he accused me of being unreasonable and needing to calm down ( I was calm & polite throughout our conversation). I will not be booking any further stays through Sykes although I will be contacting the owner of the Hawthorn to book future stays directly through them.

Lovely house in a lovely area of whitby and the car parking space was perfect.

Bed's not very comfortable could do with new mattresses. WiFi did not work at all during are week stay . Had to call sykes as property owner never returned are call after leaving two messages. We booked this cottage because it had WiFi

Lovely house, very well equipped.

Good location, easy walk into Whitby, slightly harder back up hill with children and a pushchair. Only small complaint the shower in the main bathroom, it's difficult to get the right temperature and they need to hoover under the sofas. Otherwise great, we would return.

An excellent property in a quiet area but within easy reach of Whitby town centre.

Very clean with all the amenities you could need we would definitely come again. One small point it would have been nice to have a couple of chairs to be able to sit in the garden. Never the less definitely a 10 out of 10

Had a fantastic stay.

There's everything you need, warm and comfortable. Has access to some great walks and not that far from town at all. Will definitely return again.

The property was perfect for our needs.

It was only a short walk into Whitby and to the nearest park. Very comfortable and clean and a bonus that there was enough parking space for 2 cars. We will definitely return.

This was our second stay here (three couples) and is in a quiet location, but only a short walk into Whitby.

Parking is also a bonus. Had everything we needed and dressed nicely with Xmas tree as it was Xmas time. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Location is excellent, nice walk to town and quiet cul de sac with easy parking. Clean, comfortable and well equipped with lovely beds and linens. We would return in a heartbeat

A lovely cottage in a great location just 10 mins walk into whitby, the cottage was well equipped for cooking our roast dinner and other meals, open planned downstairs for a sociable family, but plenty of space upstairs with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathroom

This house was very clean, and was warm and comfy.

It had all the necessary fixtures and fittings that one would expect. The bedrooms were a nice size and there was plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. There were modern good quality TVs in the lounge and all of the bedrooms. The broadband seemed quite fast and was reliable. There was room for my large car on the drive. I have stayed at plenty of places in Whitby before with limited or no parking so this was most welcome. It’s a 2 minute drive to the town or the supermarket, or a ten to 15 minute walk. Our only criticism was the sofas in the living room. We didn’t feel that they were particularly comfortable. It took a while to use the available cushions strategically so as to get comfy. Not really a game changer and our subjective opinion of course. As holiday houses go it was very good value for money. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Whitby.

Lovely large holiday house.

About 20 minutes walk to town centre. Off road parking and really quiet area. Was perfect for us.

The house was clean and well presented and the beds very comfy. The kitchen was well equipped though I think the pans could be refreshed with newer and less worn ones, but that’s o my minor. Easy walk into town and good parking both at the house and next to the house. We had a lovely week and would recommend this house to other holiday makers.

Very clean and comfortable. Perfectly situated, 15/20 minute walk into the town centre. We had a lovely few days. Just a note, the garden is not secure for dogs.

The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is in a quiet, residential area with off road parking and easy walking distance to Whitby town centre.it was the perfect base for our family holiday.

Overall very good but with regard to the property I think a hard copy of all the relevant info would be helpful.

Also the rear outside area is not fully enclosed so could be a problem for some dog owners ( an external hook for a dog leash in that area would help ).

Not dog friendly at all.

Couldn’t safely let dog out. Property had no tea pot and the kettle and toaster need replacing. Very expensive for what was provided. Having previously stayed in other properties in Whitby wouldn’t return here. Not as good. Please note very dark inside and quite cool even though it was summer.

A very nice property, well furnished & very clean.

Lots of walks from the house & good parking area. My only criticism is that there wasn't any instructions for appliances which made using the washing machine, microwave etc difficult but that was the only problem.

The property has everything you need. Close to the town and there are great walks, come rain or shine.

This was a great property generously equipped and in an excellent location with parking.

This was our second time staying at the Hawthorn. Very clean and modern. Perfect location. High end furnishings. Plenty of parking. Dog friendly. Definitely recommend.

The house was very clean and comfortable and in a very good location. The only downside for us was that the garden is not secure enough for dogs.

Couches were very uncomfortable.

The mattress in the on suite was also uncomfortable. The shower was very nice. Some information on the kitchen appliances would have been helpful.

Nothing major however, the shower head in en-suite needs descaling and the extractor fan vent in the en-suite needs vacuuming.

Lovely holiday.

Plenty of space for 4 adults and a dog. A few instruction cards would help with kitchen appliances. Cleaner could do with wiping skirting boards and cleaning glass doors and windows. Had to clean kitchen and living room due to dirty marks showing up with the sun shining. Also hoover not the best for Cleaning stairs. But we still had a lovely holiday and we would definitely recommend the house.

Hawthorn has all your home comforts, a super clean, comfy holiday base. We loved it!

Needs an information pack.

How to use washer dishwasher tv heating when to put which bins out etc. Also had to ring twice for key code and we had actually arrived before we got it.

The holiday house is in a quiet close about 15 minutes walk into Whitby centre, very clean and comfortable for 5 adults and small child.

Plenty of crockery and comfortable dining table for us all to sit round. The parking is for 2 cars which is a bonus so we didn’t have to park on the road, we had a lovely stay at Hawthorne, and would book again.

No heating down stairs on as my brother-in-law is 81 found it chilly at night .

Also no welcome book for appliances to found out how they work. Did email the owner about the heating but had no reply.

Excellent property in a convenient location.

Really clean and comfortable throughout, with plenty of room for everyone. One suggestion though... it would be useful to provide an information booklet about how the house operates and suchlike, ie. which bin to leave out, where the nearest shop is, etc...

House is in a quiet location and a great position for walking to Whitby ( 10 - 15 mins)along the cinder trail, steep steps down though!

House comfy and very clean with lovely sized bedrooms, as we were 4 adults and 2 children it worked well, 6 adults would be a squeeze as not enough sofa space. Good communication from owners. Parking for 2 cars a big bonus for Whitby. Would definitely recommend as a base.

Wonderful house to stay in.

Great location for walking the dog on the cinder trail & into town. Powerful shower in the en-suite which is great. All the facilities you could want, big tv’s to all the rooms. The place needs an outside tap to wash the dogs paws, they get pretty muddy coming of the trail in winter. We will definitely return to this place though, spot on. Thank you for our stay.

Really clean and modern, loved the open plan living area. Smart tv in every room great for kids. Good location, 15 minutes to the town and plenty of dog walking options nearby. Hoping to book again next year.

Great house & has parking space which is great.

The only wee fault is lack of mirrors in the bedrooms. It's a 3bedroom and only 1 bedroom has a mirror. I had to sit on floor to dry hair which isn't ideal. I would definitely recommend it & would certainly return

If only thing we had a problem with was that the bed in the en-suite room was a little hard and so were the pillows.

Everything we needed. Excellent location 15 minute walk into Whitby no need to drive into Whitby which saved on trying to park as it was August and very busy. Lots to do near by. Owners have thought of everything and the fresh flowers on arrival a lovely touch. Would definitely stay again.

Steady 15 minute walk into Whitby

Hawthorn Cottage was a lovely property, well-located as a base from which to explore Whitby.

It was exceptionally clean and very well-equipped, with nice welcome-treats and very good supplies of holiday essentials. Our party’s small car fitted ok on the little drive and the larger car was parked in one of the communal places. We enjoyed a walk on the nearby Cinder Track and also strolled into Whitby: downhill on the way in, uphill on the way back! We had our small dog with us (allowed, as per the description). It did not state that the outdoor areas were enclosed, and they definitely weren’t: the front was open and the back had a low, open fence which small dogs could get through. Although the location was very pleasant, there is a very large building development underway right behind the property. There was no work taking place during New Year when we stayed, but it could be a little noisy at other times. We personally found the double beds rather hard and really struggled with the size of the under the counter sized fridge with freezer compartment when our Sainsbury’s delivery for six adults arrived! Overall though, a lovely property. Thank you.

The house was immaculate.

Very clean and tidy with modern decor. Brilliant having a tv in all the bedrooms for the kids. Well equipped house with lots of extras such as toilet roll, hand wash, tea, coffee etc and just a 10/15 minute walk to town. Loads of lovely dog walks all close by. There is a lovely outdoor area for sitting which we loved using at night for a drink the only thing I would maybe add would be a gate to the outdoor seating area for the dog. We had a perfect holiday there and would definitely book again and recommend.

This is the first time we have stayed in Yorkshire and we certainly made the right choice with Hawthorn.

The house is ideally located for walking into Whitby, the cinder trail, and neighbouring village. Hawthorn was well maintained, clean, quiet and had all the facilities one could ask for and more, in fact some rooms we never used. Nearby Whitby has much to offer and we took advantage of the local bus service, which was excellent and the North Yorkshire Railway, a little nostalgic travelling on both the steam railway and a diesel from the past. I don't normally write reviews, but felt in this case it justified the review as Hawthorn was one of the better properties we have stayed in , the weather was good and local facilities were excellent. We will certainly be returning! (A plus side was our dog was accepted wherever we went and the local people were not only friendly but helpful.)

All the amenities were as described and couldn't have been better. Comfy beds,fluffy towels...perfect.

The house is beautifully presented and exceeded our expectations.

Very well appointed and although we took our own condiments and washing machine liquid it was already supplied by the owner which is an added luxury. The house is situated in a quiet modern estate and although no views of Whitby it was lovely and quite so we felt very well rested. It’s a good 10 minute walk into Town and we enjoyed the walk in which is all downhill. It is a fairly steep walk back up again but again we enjoyed that. We did get a taxi one evening and it was only £5 and there are lots available. We took our dog Belle and she loved it too. Underfloor heating downstairs was a real bonus as the weather was a little cool and made the house so warm and cosy. On another note I had advised we were there to celebrate my 50th Birthday and on entering the house I found a bottle of Prosecco, Balloon & Birthday Card which I thought was a lovely touch. There were also fresh flowers in the house which was another lovely touch. We loved our stay so much we have booked again for next year. I can’t recommend this house enough. The owners should feel very proud.
