  • "Great friendly helpful owners, nothing too which trouble."

Lovely clean cottage cosy quiet cottage, some traffic noise but soon got used to it. Nice outside enclosed area very quiet couldn’t hear the traffic. Wasn’t as near to town as i thought, but that was our fault and it wasn’t far and my mobility scooter coped with the walk into town so not a issue. Comfy bed slept really well all rooms clean light and airy, can see the sea and Whitby Abby from bedrooms. Nice pub serving food short walk away, local shop and a nice walk to supermarket's. Great base for Robin hoods bay and surrounding area we had a lovely stay. Will book again Thank you

  • "Accommodation was clean and comfortable."

Very happy with early check-in offered by them, and communication was quick and clear. Cupboards in kitchen and bathroom could do with updating, but otherwise fine.Parking very easy with large driveway. Issue re Wi-Fi resolved quickly.Walk into Whitby wasn't as steep as I'd expected, but may still be difficult with those with mobility issues. Happy overall with holiday.

  • "Thank you for an excellent stay."

This is the second time we have stayed at your Retreat. Great place for walking to the town and taking the dog out for walks. The curtains in the main bedroom could be darker. There was confusion about the black bin, it was not emptied on the Thursday, but other than that we had a great time.

  • "We enjoyed our week at Helredale retreat, it was our first time to the Whitby area and we appreciated the information file provided with maps to local facilities and information relating to places to visit."

The property met our needs with good off road parking and a very comfortable bed in the main bedroom. Having SKY TV was appreciated and the WIFI worked well. We would be happy to rebook if we return to the area in future.

  • "Helredale Retreat Whitby The Retreat is a home from home and you could not ask for more."

It’s located just over the main bridge with a short walk right down the bank into Whitby town, the retreat itself has everything and more. The main bedroom has the best bed I have ever slept in with a shower and toilet room we just used the one downstairs. The second bedroom never got used but has another double bed with single bunk above it. The main bathroom downstairs has a lovely bath with mega hot water for after those days of walking or just jump in the shower. The gardens To the front you can park two cars outside on the drive so no paying to park or spend time looking for a space. To the rear is an enclosed garden with views to the abbey in distance. There is a shop as described in the pack a short walk up the bank to left, just past this is a play park with plenty of space to walk the dog in the morning. For nice quiet night we walked to the half penny pub just 8 minutes past the shop along the road. The food is lovely especially the steak and there are tables where you can take you pet with you. Chris the owner is very helpful and even offered to let us stay in the retreat till late on our last day. Will definitely stay here again. Regards Michael, Sarah and Bailey the dog

  • "Comfortable holiday home with plenty of parking."

Good facilities generally although a bigger freezer would be a bonus. Half a mile walk from Swing Bridge. As per previous comments we felt that a few additional cooking utensils ( oven tray, microwave dishes and a bread knife) would be a great help.

  • "We were very pleased with this property."

It was spotless and very comfortable. Everything you need for a home from home by the sea. The location was ideal for touring and not far to walk to the town. We felt it was value for money and when we visit Whitby again, we would definitely book again. Thank you for making our holiday enjoyable

  • "Got a call from owner to say house was ready at 9."

30 but due to unforeseen circumstances didn’t get to take advantage of it. Didn’t realise the house was on main road which was a slight problem as very noisy. Close to sainsburys and town. Overall warm and comfortable and very clean , bathroom sink needs attention. Also lack of sensible size pans, baking trays made cooking Christmas dinner a challenge but we adapted and overcame

  • "Very nice clean and cosy little holiday home."

Arrived to a double drive which was perfect as had two cars (not small cars) and they fit perfect. Entrance leads into a cosy living room with sofa and sky tv. Kitchen had plenty of cupboard space and plenty enough plates cups etc… the family bathroom is downstairs which was handy having a toilet downstairs! They is a small utility room/coat room which led to a enclosed garden which was perfect as we took our dog. Upstairs is two bedrooms each with a double bed and one with a single above (bunk bed) master bedroom has a handy en-suite with a shower which was a great powerful shower! The master bed was super comfy!! We had a great weekend here! The house is a great spot only a short walk from harbour and a 5 minute walk from a small shop. Will definitely be staying here again!

  • "Lovely property, very clean & cosy."

A bonus with off road parking for two cars, a rare find for Whitby. Location good, 15 minute stroll to harbour. Two small points for us, the dining chairs were uncomfortable. We realise they foldaway due to space restrictions, but better quality (stronger) would be better. Secondly, on holiday we do cater for ourselves mainly and we found there was a lack of basic cooking equipment e.g. baking tray, roasting pan, jug and a casserole dish would be appreciated. However overall this is a lovely property and would not hesitate to return.

The owner was very helpful when I phoned and on arrival we had milk which had been left in fridge. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable with everything we needed. It was very near harbour and we were fortunate to have a drive to park on. Also, it was a great base to visit other places and had supermarkets close by. Would recommend anyone to stay there.
