This house is spotless, beautifully decorated and equipped with absolutely everything that you could need! Would highly recommend and would stay here again.

Everything you needed was supplied. The beds were very comfortable . Beautiful bathroom and spotless clean. The only downside was the parking first come first served, but that’s no fault of See Glympse. Will highly recommend to friends and family.

  • "The property itself was comfortable, we struggled with the firmness of the bed which we found very hard."

Personal preference I know. There was only one tea towel at the property so we had to purchase more. The oven hob is defective and needs attention. There was black mould in the shower cubicle.

Thank you for your feedback. There should have been 2 tea towels left so going forwards we will ensure this is the case. The hob is an induction hob for safety reasons. It requires the correct pans which provided. There are also instructions on how to operate the hob in the appliance folder in the kitchen. That being said we will check to make sure everything is working as it should be. We apologise, and we will have the shower resealed at the earliest opportunity. Had you contacted Yorkshire Coastal Cottages during your stay we would have rectified the issues for you. Property Owner

  • "The downstairs of the property needed a good clean."

When we arrived the kitchen floor was covered in large spots of fat, when I cleaned this, the cloth I used was filthy suggesting the floor hadn’t been washed at all. Fat was dripping out of the extractor fan suggesting the filter needed changing. Downstairs definitely needed all the furniture moving and the place ‘bottoming’. The advertised outside space, although small was filthy and totally unfit for use. In no way did it resemble the picture in the advertisement. The dishwasher didn’t work and we had to put salt and rinse aid in it. The en-suite shower upstairs smelt very musty and the fan very dusty ( thus was mentioned in a previous review) This spoilt our enjoyment of what was a pleasant room. The house looks beautiful on the pictures but unfortunately the cleanliness issues would stop us using or recommending it again.

  • "The property was very nicely decorated, warm ,comfortable and welcoming."

There was a good selection of pots and crockery as well as games and movies. It was obvious that great care and attention had been taken to make visitors enjoy their stay. The property was in a good location and only a short walk to Whitby town centre. Building renovation work is ongoing on the street although generally it is a quiet location. On street parking was difficult on some occasions. It was unfortunate that some areas of cleanliness within the property were not up to the expected standard . For example the oven was not clean although foil had been placed in the grill pan. There were three oven trays which were all unfit to use, however these were quickly replaced by the local sales and support team. The bathroom shower safety mats were unfit to use and these were not replaced during our 7 day vacation. The upper shower room is very compact. The shower itself was really nice, however as a shower water is expected to splash on the base during use but the tray was very slippy. Without a safety mat or bath floor mat to step onto when getting out of the shower the floor was also slippy. There was not much room to move about when getting out of the shower or using the sink. Small issues such as dust under furniture and in air extractor vents were noticed. We were asked to remove bedding on leaving which we did. The top bedding as lovely. However two of the actual quits were stained and four of the pillow protectors were very badly stained and not , in our view, suitable for multiple visitors. While these were small points which did not spoil our stay , once again in our view, they let the property down.

Hello there, Glad to hear you enjoyed your time in Whitby. However, very sorry to hear you had some issues in the house. We will ensure that these are reviewed and renewals to equipment will be made accordingly. Regarding cleanliness this will be mentioned at review with the cleaning team. Your feed back is very much appreciated, glad to hear these points did not spoil your holiday. Regards Rosie, Jane, Richard. Property Owner

Accommodation had everything you need for a relaxing stay. Everything done to an excellent standard. We stayed over the Christmas period & all decorations and added extras were there to make a wonderful homely feel. We used both rooms, front room for watching films and the dining room for family games as well as eating. We managed to park outside & while parking wasn't plentiful there were spaces available in surrounding streets.

It was stated that the house was 10 minutes from the beach however this wasn't accurate it was 10 minutes to the harbour and another 10 minutes to the beach. Also it stated there's parking for one car this wasn't the case there was never space on the street we paid £9 x2 (as we went in 2 cars) per day to park the car in the long stay car park. An additional cost of £63 (1car) which we hadn't budgeted for.

Had everything you need for a holiday stay, and everything worked. Great use of space with the little en suite at the top. Good storage. Comfortable beds. Blackout blinds a must in midsummer, and the fans in the rooms were appreciated. We did sleep with windows shut so as to not hear the gulls quite so loud! I think there must have been soundproofing as once the windows were closed we couldn’t hear much at all. Lovely view to the Abbey from the top floor. Be warned of steep stairs - to be expected in this type of house but those with young children or mobility impairment should be warned.

Parking is one a first come first served basis we had 3 cars to park and actually managed it in the surrounding streets even after we had been out for the day but that was just luck I could see it being a problem at times . The house is 3 storey the stairs could be a problem for some . We had a very comfortable stay and would recommend See Glympse the house on the whole was clean but under sofas and furniture in the living room and on top of wardrobes were dusty which stopped it getting full marks for cleanliness. I’m not sure who this point refers to wether it’s the owners , the management company or Sykes Cottages but the long list of to do’s before you leave I found a little annoying . I would always always leave a house tidy on leaving but to be told to strip all the beds and put everything in bags is a bit cheeky we paid a lot of money to stay there a service is being provided I’m on holiday to get away from all that I have never been asked that before .

Perhaps you could give some idea of the suitability of properties for older people who may have some limited mobility. The house description led us to expect easy free parking close to the house. This wasn't the case. In a street of 38 houses there was parking for only 18 vehicles. Identical problems existed in adjacent streets.
