  • "100% recommend!"

Hosts were lovely, very helpful and welcoming, House beautiful, rooms much bigger than what they look like on photos, beds were amazing, very comfortable and the shower was the best shower ever! Kitchen has all we could possible need, appliances were brand new and the Welcome basket was a lovely touch. Our children loved it here, huge garden and a play park just up the road. Great location! We walked from the grange to the mallyan spout hotel then fown a track to mallyan spout then to thomas fos, beautiful walk would recommend - anyone wants to see this walk check out the walking girl on Instagram (thats where we found the route) we then had lunch at Inn on Moor which was lovely and dog friendly.

Thanks for your excellent feedback and delighted to hear you had a lovely time. The walk you mentioned is indeed amazing. Next time at the waterfall hammer in a coin in the money tree and make a wish. :O) Property Owner

The property

The Grange is a stunning, Victorian vicarage built at the same time as the village church in 1897 with separate staff quarters off the main house.

It is situated in the village of Goathland, near Whitby in North Yorkshire and set in a 2.5 acre plot with gardens and private woodland. A simply exceptional residence, The Grange accommodates up to six people and appeals to families/ friends looking to escape everything and experience a fabulous holiday in this rural part of the country. After a day of walking on the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors, make yourself comfortable on the sofas in the sitting room, around the wood burning stove and TV, and enjoy the homely feel. Carry on the conversation in the kitchen/diner, finished in a country style with a run of wooden units and a centered dining table, here you can prepare and enjoy meals in each other's company. The first bedroom situated downstairs, offers a king-size bed, along with a sleek shower room, whilst upstairs, a further two rooms, a double with en-suite bathroom and the other offering twin single beds. A splendid rear courtyard completes the setup, with a picnic bench and a set of Bistro furniture to relax on, or simply wander around the expansive private grounds and discover the neighboring fields. The welcoming village of Goathland has what you need to enjoy a memorable stay in North Yorkshire, from its charming tea rooms to its well-stocked village store and the renowned Aidensfield Stores, made famous by its appearance on the Heartbeat TV series.

Goathland benefits from a regular bus service running between Whitby and York voted the most scenic bus route in the country. Hop on board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs between Pickering and Whitby and is featured as Hogsmeade Station in the well-known Harry Potter film series, where you can sit back and enjoy a scenic ride through the vast moorlands. Wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts will find the location a true haven, with sheep and lambs in the fields, kestrels and buzzards wheeling in the sky and the sounds of the Murk Esk River flowing and cascading down the valley below. Lace up those walking boots and discover a wealth of walking trails locally, including Beck Hole, Mallyan Spout and the Cinder Trail which runs between Goathland and Grosmont. For more leisurely strolls for all ages, visit the Cawthorn Roman Camp or the Mount Grace Priory House and Gardens. For a splendid escape to rural North Yorkshire, look no further than The Grange.
