  • "This is a fabulous property!"

The location is great - just a few minutes walk to the beach via lots of handy shops, bakeries, pubs etc. It made it so easy for our large group with children as we could nip back & forth to grab things we needed instead of lugging everything around all day. The hot tub & BBQ were great. Well stocked kitchen with lots of nice things included to help ourselves to (eg fancy coffee machine) It even had the same air fryer that I have at home! The pool table was very popular. This property could be booked along with the property next door for a larger group as there was a locked adjoining door and locked gate separating the gardens. The owners were very kind and let us check out at midday which made packing up in the morning a lot more relaxed. I would definitely return.

  • "Loved the property and all facilities."

Great location close to the beach. The older ladies of the family, felt that the sofas could be replaced in time, as the cushions were not comfortable. But over all a lovely enjoyable stay and lovely family home.

  • "Had a great stay with the family, the house was nicely decorated and had everything we needed, the goodies left for our arrival was a nice touch."

Was a bit disappointed with the standard of cleanliness, ensuite wasn't very clean, mirrors were streaky, food left in fridge, overall it needed a good clean.

Hi Ian, we have spoken with the house keeper and do take your comments on board. The house has had a deep clean since. and in truth as new owners we are realising that same day changeovers can be too challenging for the house keeping team with beds to change and make some areas had not been cleaned as thoroughly as we would have liked and we do apologise for how you found the property. Regarding the items in the fridge they are part of the welcome pack Along with the wine and crisps we try to leave milk, cheese, fruit juice just so that if guests arrive late at night there is a few essentials in the property. ( we will update our welcome book so that people realise this ) Regards Charles Property Owner

  • "Lovely home from home property with everything you need during your stay!"

Few minor issues, Hot tub wasn’t heating up, but this got sorted out straight away with the owners telling us what to do. (Hot-tub had gone into sleep mode) smart Tv wouldn’t let us get on anything, needing login details etc for Netflix, ItVX etc, Kids was also a bit disappointed the arcade game wouldn’t work, BUT this did not ruin our stay. We all had a fab time! The Pool table kept us entertained for hours. Shops/takeaways and beach right your doorstep, will defo be visiting The old Statuon House again

Hi Kellie Thank you so much for your feedback and really pleased you had a lovely stay. We hope you visit again in the coming years. We have now included notes at the cottage in the welcome book for hot tub start up issues as there a couple of quick fixes that literally take a minute to remedy. The arcade game had stopped working so it was replaced with one of the spare machines immediately after the stay. I can only apologise for this, but this has been rectified. Netflix now like the others are clamping down on sharing passcodes so we can't leave our personal account open as they see multiple users. Thanks once again for visiting and despite a couple of issues we are thrilled you had a great stay. Regards Simon Property Owner

  • "House was nice enough, it looked like someone had been in before us as it wasn't the cleanest but just a quick run around with the vac and empty the dishwasher and it was sorted."

The parking here is dreadful, considering this house sleeps 10 and next door sleeps 12 you're very lucky to get parked outside the property as it's a very narrow residential road with cars parked all down one side. Also there's building work going on at the back and side of the house, they weren't very loud to be honest but they parked all on the street too which made it worse, I'm guessing they would park at the back but someone came in and dug the entrance way up so there was no way to get around back and also the barriers there caused a problem into the road, this has nothing to do with the property I might add obviously it couldn't be helped by anyone just sharing my experience. Back on to the house there's an en suite shower room then a house bathroom, this would benefit from a shower/bath in my opinion as if you wanted to get an early shower you'd have to walk through a bedroom to get there, so just a shower above that bath would make things ideal. Nice sized house there was 9 of us and we had plenty of space, the pool room was a nice space to chill out and also the kitchen was well equipped and a good size, hot tub could do to be slightly bigger as we had to keep taking it in turns I'd say it was comfortable for 4 but could do with a 6 but that again is just my experience others may say it's more than adequate. The location is ideal to be fair very close to shops and everything in walking distance, Withernsea itself is just a typical quiet seaside town, there's the amusements which is massive to be fair and bowling is fantastic value for money then a little fairground near the beach, we also played rounders on the beach it's nice and quiet. All in all we had a nice break, a little bit quiet for some of our crowd but I explained this beforehand don't expect a big party town. If you want a nice quiet week/end away I can't really fault it. The property is nice but parking was the biggest problem, just something to consider although the residents in our experience were quite accommodating as they could see us struggling to get parked on some days.

Hi Adam Thank you for taking the time to visit the Old Station House and write a review. I am pleased you had a good time and yes if it is big party nights then Withernsea isn't the place. Apologies you needed to do a once over with the vacuum this shouldn't have happened and for some reason the high level of housekeeping wasn't up to its usual standard. As per the previous guest recommendation and your own we are going to put an extra shower in the bathroom later this month. I can only apologise for the parking problems that week. It was as you rightly said made a lot worse as as small private road was effectively out of action as they needed access to the pipework. That meant there was 4/5 less parking spaces than normal which the trades guys obviously took. I visited the property just over a week ago and the small road was back open and there ample spaces Friday day time. With our sister property The Old Police House we have now started providing private parking in the Garage which should help and free up some extra space on the street parking for guests at the Station house. • "The house itself was very nice, well equipped and comfortable."

The pool table and hot tub were great additions. However, there was building work going on behind and adjacent to the property. The adjacent property is being demolished so every week day morning at 8 am we were woken by a pneumatic drill. This also meant that being in the hot tub/garden in the daytime wasn’t particularly pleasant. We decided to go home two days early as we had had enough of the noise. Had we known this work was going on, we would not have booked the property. A local person told us this work had been going on for two years, so was obviously known to the owner, but omitted from the description. Another negative was only one shower in the property. There were 5 of us and the property can sleep more, so an additional shower would be good.

Dear Samantha Thank you for choosing to stay at the Old Station house and taking the time to review the property. From the review it seems that the pool table and hot tub went down really well and as you rightly say it is a big property and can sleep up to ten people in total. It is our first year running the Old Station house and only made it available end of April so it is good to get some feedback. My partner and I take on board any feedback both pro's and con's. Certainly the need for an extra shower or shower room can be reviewed/discussed when we plan how to improve and upgrade the property in the coming months. Whether this is reconfiguring the room layouts or extra additions, change of room usage etc. As for the noise I can only apologise and appreciate you wouldn’t want to spend time in the gardens/hot tub in the daytime in the week. From what I have been led to believe the project is almost complete and should have been finished in April. It is a local private developer and unfortunately we have no control over what days they choose to work and can only apologise. I am not sure about the comments from the locals as they don't like the property being used as a holiday let. Thank you once again for your review and we will certainly take into consideration your comments about the shower. Regards Simon Property Owner
