• "The cottage itself was beautifully decorated and finished to a really high standard, and overall we had a lovely stay."

  The hot tub was also a real highlight. Our main observation is that, although the cottage sleeps four people, the living space doesn't feel particularly practical for four adults. There is only one settee with seating for two, while the four wooden dining chairs aren't really comfortable for sitting and relaxing on throughout the evening. We found ourselves having to sit on the bed. The layout was also a little awkward, as the lounge area forms part of the main bedroom. This meant that if one couple wanted to go to bed or retire early, there wasn't really a separate communal space for the other couple to relax in. The bath in the living area is a lovely feature, but this space may perhaps be better used to provide additional comfortable seating or extra kitchen facilities, particularly as the cottage is intended to accommodate four adults. The kitchen was small but adequate for basic meals, although it would be difficult to prepare a full breakfast or cook anything more substantial. For us, the cottage felt much more ideally suited to one couple as a romantic getaway rather than two couples sharing. It is beautifully presented and has some lovely features, but a little more consideration to practical living space would make a big difference for four guests. The outdoor hot tub area was lovely and we really enjoyed it. One suggestion would be to add a canopy and lighting over the hot tub, as this would allow guests to enjoy it even when it's raining. A small bistro table and chairs in the corner nearby would also be a lovely addition, giving guests somewhere to sit and relax between using the hot tub. Overall, this is a beautiful cottage that has clearly been done out to a very high standard. We had a lovely stay, and with a few adjustments to the seating, living space and outdoor area, it could be even better.

• "The house is beautifully decorated and the bathrooms are fabulous however we felt that the large open plan room wasn’t suitable for us as we were with my Mother and Father-in-law and we felt that there wasn’t enough sofas to relax on."

  It meant we had to sit on the bed while they sat on the sofa. If it’s just a couple staying I would definitely recommend Hawthorn Lodge, it’s close to Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay but it’s quite hilly to walk anywhere from the house. The kitchen is small but it was a nice touch to have been left some lovely biscuits, bottled water and Prosecco.

• "We stayed here for 3 nights and we understand that this was a new listing."

  The location was stunning with exceptional views. Although the kitchen was small it was adequate for the two of us and the short stay we had. The bathrooms were stunning as was the hot tub which could have been advertised better. There were a couple of issues which we fed back to the owners. These were a lack of sharp knives but fortunately we did take our own. No draining area for pots. There was only a 2 seater sofa which was fine for us but wondered how they would accommodate 4 people. A lack of instruction on what to do with rubbish although there was a dustbin at the back of the property. We took our rubbish home. The lane up to the property does have some large pot holes so vehicles need to be careful if driving up in the dark. Overall a lovely stay
