  • "This is a beautiful house to accommodate a large party of people."

However the beds are small doubles, advertised as doubles which makes them very uncomfortable for two people to share. Bedding is bobbly and quilt inside had hole in it. The boiler only has enough hot water for two people to shower before it runs out , when enquiring with the owner had advised 20 minutes for the water to reheat between showers…..not ideal when you’re away to explore the area. There is broken glass in the inner porch door. Health and safety issue. Overgrown garden….generally upkeep needs addressing as this could be a lovely holiday base.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you found the house beautiful, spacious and suitable for accommodating a large group. However, we are sorry to learn that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. Regarding the beds, they are standard small double beds, but we appreciate that some guests may find them less spacious when shared by two adults. We will review the bedding and replace any items that show signs of wear, including the quilt you mentioned. We are sorry that the hot water supply did not meet your expectations. The property operates on a hot water cylinder system, which can require a reheating period after periods of high usage. While this has not previously been raised as an issue by guests, we appreciate that it may have been less convenient for your group. We take health and safety matters very seriously. The cracked pane of glass in the inner porch door had already been made safe with protective safety film prior to your stay. Nevertheless, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention and understand how it may have detracted from your impression of the property. With regards to the garden, the longer grass was intentional as part of our support for the "No Mow May" initiative, which encourages biodiversity and provides a valuable habitat for pollinators and other wildlife in our countryside setting. Maintained pathways are provided throughout the garden so that guests can still comfortably explore and enjoy the outdoor space. We appreciate your comments, as they help us identify areas for improvement, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide a better experience in the future. Property Owner

RIPLEY

Harrogate 4 miles.

The village of Ripley in Lower Nidderdale, situated on the leeward side of the Yorkshire Dales, was designed and built, by Sir William Amcotts Ingleby in the 1830's. Sir William was so inspired by a model estate village he saw on a visit to France, that he came home and demolished the existing buildings in Ripley, beginning again from scratch to a classic French design. Today, the village is small and unspoilt and boasts a beautiful Castle in the centre (still home to the Ingleby family) with extensive gardens open to the public which include waterfalls, bridges and a lake. Deer graze in the grounds and there is a shop and tea-rooms within the Castle. The village has a large cobbled market place in the centre, overlooked by the Boar's Head - an old coaching inn which offers an excellent restaurant, bar and bistro. There is a village store and ice cream parlour where visitors can enjoy the very popular Ripley ice cream, along with a butcher’s, art gallery and much more.
